The seed of a flower can be good or bad
Don't think too much about life, and be sad
Understand that the compound will pressure you a lot
Fight through the feeling and land in a perfect spot
Gravitate off the ground, rise through the air
Make the best out of life with an unbreakable stare
Have strength of a lion and always stay focused
Not letting a peak of darkness come without notice
Stay fearless and conquer the world by storm
Stay true to your mind and keep your light on
Darkness with try to interfere with your light
Stay on the past and look toward the sunlight
Mountains will form with pain and suffering
Never let depression win call on your mother
So let this day be about opportunity and values
Have a great "Graduation" and ride off like a stallion.
This day has finally come
Your future has now begun
School days are all you know
Into your dreams you will now grow
Looking back, so many years
Moving forward brings many tears
A whole new life lies in wait
It's up to you which destiny you create
Future beyond, you hold inside of your hand
Inspiration of dreams only you understand
Your journey into life has begun
Because your time has finally come
"Jay's Graduation Day"
(by Michelle L. LeBlanc 06/17/2024)
This week you would have graduated
Just before you turned 18
Oh, how the time has flown
Since you suddenly left the scene
All tho you didn't graduate High School
You did graduate from this Life
You transitioned with flying colors
Your painting truly mesmerized
You learned many lessons
You tried so very hard
You found a way to rise above
And to reach up for the stars
Life wasn't always easy
But you learned to keep your smile
You'd reach out a hand of kindness
And often go the extra mile
You had a such a heart of gold
And a smile that brightened your eyes
Your friends all loved you so much
Some of them still can't help, but cry
And even though your graduation
Would have been Wednesday June 19th
I know you're still behind the scenes
Celebrating with a wink
You certainly left your imprint
Your marks engraved on our hearts
You graduated with the highest honor
Your love imprinted on our hearts!
It’s my graduation,
What an awesome day,
What can I say,
Up a few steps,
Then capped,
Then down a few,
Between me and you,
All of 90 seconds
No more,
No fuss, no trumpet,
No encore,
I studied, I slaved,
I cried,
I worked through
The night,
For 4 years,
For this honor,
My family hardly
Heard my name,
But this
Was for me,
My moment of fame.
Made all the
More special,
With the presence
Of my 13 year old son,
Homework all done,
Yodeling his admiration,
In true traditional
South African style.

This years Graduation day,
is far from the norm.
The stages “Grads “walk,
are now a hate platform.
Thugs are making “Grad day,”
a day, easy to recall.
But for the wrong reason,
it’s now filled with appall.
What this country now needs,
is a much stronger hand.
Because force is the only thing,
haters seem to understand.
How I long for the day,
when this trend will abate.
But then, I know only God,
can rid a heart of it’s hate.
Graduation is all about a passage of time,
From bronze to gold, a journey so divine.
Passage after passage, life amazes our way,
With doors opening new faith every day.
The wilderness may seem daunting and bleak,
But look towards the promise, a future you seek.
Let the fragrance of faith fill your soul,
And react with worship, to make you whole.
Camels are coming, so recover all,
Wipe the dust off your glasses and stand tall.
See your promised land, with eyes full of faith,
And break free from fear, for He will never fail.
Let go of limitations, and drink from joy's well,
Make a choice to worship, and let your soul swell.
Enjoy life's abundance and let joy move you,
For the morning sun brings promises anew.
To the boy who battled dragons
In the mists of yesteryear
Did you ever imagine
That you’d be standing here?
To the man who’s made of stardust
Our brightest son and sun
Will your light shine the farthest
When all is said and done?
To the boy who built his castle
In the once-upon-a-time
On the day you turn your tassel
Did you know how bright you’d shine?
To the man who’s making history
As you light the way for others
Is it really a mystery
That I’m proud to call you brother?
*For my brother
Blake Burgess
If you can laugh at the crazy antics of yourself,
Instead of sitting on the shelf,
You will find others will be laughing with you.
Instead of at you.
If you do this and don't hide your mistakes,
You will have no fear of snakes,
As you climb up ladders,
You could not climb by sitting on the shelf,
An inferior version of self.
So seize the day,
And come out to play,
Come down off the shelf,
And find your better self.
Tears come easily on this special night,
It's saying farewell that is hard.
Thoughts turn to the celebration of the end of our twelve-year journey,
the end of our growing years together,
hugs and kisses are abundant.
Nervous laughter as memories crowd.
Signing yearbooks,
But how do I say...goodbye?
Feeling footloose, with nothing to grasp and hold.
A vacant feeling,
Watching all we've known disappear.
Will we see friends again,
or lose them forever?
As we search for our dreams,
will we find ourselves?
Graduation: a time etched in memory--
laughter, tears--bittersweet.

For "Graduation Day" contest
by Craig Cornish
The red letter dawn of budding expectation,
awaited for long, unfurls the exhilaration petals,
the fascinating flower of the future blooms,
especially on the graduation day.
The maturity cap and the freedom gown
spread the sense of inspired identity
on the sensuous shade of blue,
the mind absorbs, leaving the alma mater.
The roll of success scroll is received with pride,
climbing the aspiration stairs
in a trance on the life’s launching stage,
the steps seem to stride up to a great height.
The feet grow wings soaring in the ambition sky,
from the realized present to the fulfilling future,
life would fly through the rainbow of happiness,
the distinctive day of dream promises.

My fingers were a little stiff
as I blew my sigh of relief.
A beam of hope shone on my face.
I thought of that day as my saving grace.
Muffled tears fell from my eyes
as I thought of the mountains I ran for miles;
Their profound sense blended with my smile
as I laid down my troubles for a while.
As I took a bite of my celebration
I echoed some voices of exaltation,
for, time gave rise to the beginning;
The time to weave a path with a meaning.

We stood dressed like Romans of long ago
Our togas rustled in the wind
Echoing our mixed emotions on that day
As we lined outside the great hall.
When at last we heard the familiar strain
So we straightened our backs and walked
Conversations ceased as we filed in twos
Entered the hall and took our seats.
Thus everything ended on one special day
All our hardship, our toils, and tears
But as we each received that piece of scroll
We didn’t know what to make of it.

The most significant moment of my student’s life
Is the culmination of many years' efforts and sacrifice
A time to march forward, going up the stage in solemn rites
To receive a graduation diploma, my most precious gift, prize.
It's both of great fulfillments and achievements, I believe
Once in a lifetime with my toga, feels crowning with laurel leaves
Set of steps’ completion at another stair of education floor
I’ve surmounted huge phases of school’s life-challenges and endeavors.
Graduation Day flails the reigning banner of my successful race
With flying colors, raised the glorious torch of triumph, I embrace
Another milestone, a pedestal-crest for a victorious start
Accelerate me higher into my final dream, reaching the brightest star.

I barely can recall the day of my college graduation.
Even though my husband was my only comrade in attendance,
I felt proud to be with cum laude honors, sitting in a special section.
Also it’s a good thing all we graduates wore loose-fitting robes.
At the time of this event, I was almost eight months pregnant,
and I do believe that even in that flowing robe,
my pregnancy was showing!
It’s been decades since that day, which is why
I barely can recall a thing except for my feelings
of joy, accomplishment and pride – that despite the challenges
of raising a daughter for the prior three years, working part-time,
and even walking back and forth to college
(I’d still not learned to drive),
I had managed to complete the necessary courses
to the best of my ability and obtain my bachelor’s degree.
You can be a parent and you can have a job
and still do well in college.
It only takes desire, focus and energy.
I am proof of that; my education gave me a profession,
and never will I regret my efforts.

Commencement ended soon and costumes came to stay.
They got fit into me well, like feathers that sway;
How evenly cute rows of students stood at ease!
As heads high stand spruce and coconut and palm trees...!
As the bright sun's rays glisten the waters troubled,
A bit of joy of my friends, in me too bubbled;
A tinge of pain amalgamated with soft rage,
With my stress and strain within I did get engage...!
What's graduation when exam was not done well?
Don't more than potentialities, here, marks sell?
One answer that though I knew as clear as crystal,
Had stuck my mind like bullet in a jammed pistol...!
Though I stood smiling for a better photo shoot,
Mind turned numb, like a flute gradually gone mute;
Till a gleam of contentment creep within me soon,
Wouldn't my degree blink long like a gaudy balloon...???
