“I have journeyed within myself,
Scanned rumblings of the inner self
Lent my ears to the inner chime
Within grasp of the sands of time.” By author.

The Journey Within

The journey within, for diverse souls,
Begins at diverse stages of life,
For some since early days of childhood,
        Goaded by parental mentoring,
For others during the course of life
Driven by coincidence or a quirk of fate.

For some it`s an insightful journey
        Shining with light of enlightenment,
A straight-line excursion to top of a mount,
For others a nebulous trip shrouded with haze,
Veiled with dark doubt and deadly dread,
A sporadic trek ceasing at foot of a hill.

My journey within glowing since days of youth,
     Sparkling through exposure and learning,
Has been deeply anchored with quest to know myself,
To find who I am and my goals in life.

Storms of life sustained from fate and men
Have propelled me to scan deeper within myself,
To treasure peace and bliss in solitude
At the shining lake of my inner self.

Premium MemberGopher named Ray

a gopher sat on my toe today
sassy and saucy, his name was Ray
What fun do you have? The scamp asked me
I rocked my toe, so he could see

Do that again, he goaded me
I teeter-tottered him to my knee
Come back tomorrow the gopher said
He blew me a kiss and my face turned red

Goaded, ego gloats in air

Stoked and stirred up, fire flares,
If provoked, cobra scares,
Hurt by loss of glory,
Startled, beasts show fury,
Goaded, ego gloats in thin airs.
_______________
Translation |11.01.2025| ego, self, fire, snake/cobra

Poet’s note: Sanskrit has thousands of verses of wisdom called Subhashhitam. Ego identifies with (lower) self--man, bird or beast. If hurt, it reacts. When stoked fire flares. If provoked, cobra tries to scare. So does human ego. The transliteration of the Sanskrit verse follows:

Jvalati chalite indhana agnih,
vi-prakrtah pannagah phanaam kurute |
Praayah sve mahimaanam kshobhaat
prati-padyanta jantavah || 218 ||

The other woman I was not the other worldly one I was
with sexy strut she came she did this is what I ghastly did
with a ghoulish voice I spooked and thwarted no applause
no I never did forget the hurt she caused, he caused...

A solitary candle glowed on my gravestone mod it glowed
a putrid smell of stinking corpse arrived when I arrived
like a hunk of foul skunk hidden in an old commode
I sent her goosebumps and a lump of hate archived

Smoke filled the air a tomcat appeared at her heels
with claws, fangs and two angry eyes ready to fight
yanking at her flaxen hair I prepared for a tart meal
as she screamed and screamed, wildly into the night.

The other man he was not the love of my life he was
wearing faded jeans and a Nike T, he goaded me
Slimy slithery things crawled up towards him with a cause,
he never knew what hit him as he burned to the 3rd degree!

generous Gus, Greystone’s glaringly green goblin glided into the glades.
giving Ginny Graceful, a gruesome ghoul a glimpse of glorious shades.
gary, Gryffindor’s ghost glared at them; for where was his grubby gratuity?
goblin and ghost, goaded Gary, giving him grief about Glue city.
grandiose grisly girl-free graphic arts gleefully featured the grimy three.
Gladly giving grotesque features in the glade’s next grimy graphic glossy.

Premium MemberAnomie

Dowry, drug addiction, and domestic violence rule
Female foeticide and female infanticide go cool.
Abortions, corruption, and gender inequality
Racism, human trafficking, casteism, and poverty
Food adulteration, wealth hoarding, consumerism, and greed
With many such evils, we, as a society, bleed.

Where are our good-bad consciences and consciousnesses?
Where are our ethically fit philanthropic choices?
Like a crack in the rail track, there's moral delinquency.
There's a slip of synchrony in the social symphony.
Virtues, like iron in saline waters, are eroded.
Human regulations seem to be, from somewhere, goaded.

Are our weak feet slipping from the edge of a worn-out cliff?
Do we, in our sailing, seek for each leg a single skiff?
Our link to each other, to shun anomie, should unite.
Though small, for the good of all, shouldn’t we bestow our mite?
Ritualism, retreatism, and rebellion should end.
Our knees, to compassion, temperance, and justice, should bend

Voice

The voice is mine and yet not,
I have nurtured it, both goaded,
and placated it,
until its tongue is as liquid as molten
silver.

It is not human, never was.
It came to me as a stray dog would,
though it is more a bird than canine,
for it will fly up into my throat.
without any help from my mind.

Perhaps it is that fabled muse,
yet it is also,
a hag and a crone,
sometimes a sweet-faced harlot.
I cannot count its many faces.
It is a male wolf, a stag in the wilderness,
its call is a summons for my ghost to speak,
to feast upon the vapor
of a blood script.

Gentled am I, made meek and mild,
A mute angel roams my earth,
it hunts for white doves.
The captured birds are taught
to mark scratches upon a plasmid velum,
symbols that utter the un-utterable.

I have this strange-strangers voice,
I have a hollow stem
that rises up to pierce a deep inward sky,
what it will say next, what it has now said,
and what I am now,
only the voice knows.

Misunderstood

He fell into evil ways,
bit by bit
he became a poet,
one that goaded,
prodded and annoyed -
naturally,
he was both
beloved and hated.

“The gods made me do it,”
he often declared,
but when he grinned
a serpent’s tongue could be seen
slipping out
from his false teeth.

Secretly he craved the power
to seduce and beguile,
occasionally,
the gods let him have his way,
but not often,
and the devil kept on writing.

“For the kingdom is the LORD'S: and he is the governor among the nations.” Psalms 22:28 of the King James Bible

Governed by God to keep on going
guarded am I around His secured goodness…
Guided with the Saviour’s wisdom greatness
gallantly, my mind is taught with His truth-glow…

Goaded to become a blessing along the Holy Spirit’s goal
glad is my commitment toward kindness’ growth…
Granted with abilities to enhance along divine gifts
generously, my soul shares by the Lord’s grace…

Grateful that the Almighty’s girding
grips my heart for reaching-out gear...
Gleefully I pursue after ventures of eternal gleam
Grabbing service-opportunities while all my best, giving.

We still live

Wishes get wilted but we still live,
In love getting jilted we still live.

Excuse nor alibi need be there,
Ahead, by life goaded we still live.

In face of cooling ash of the dead,
Even on a deathbed we still live.

Good and bad happening all along,
Forgetting all the bad we still live.

Spikes prick plucking the fruits, pruning plants,
But fruits of labour-led we still live.

If just for the firewood of own pyre,
Leading life death-dreaded we still live.

Life is lent to find life’s why and what,
If not that, just for bread we still live.

Dawn

All nebulous dreams prospecting,
A hideaway in cloud atolls,
A nightly ocean, warmth awaiting,
In quibbling flow, to dawn's aperture
In spectra falling, spectral play crumbled,
Sojourner stars: their lamps parole
In a distance, behind amnesic lights
Razing autumn clouds, amber hues galore!
Cloud heaths, like bosom steaming
Of shying lovers in meeting pour
Whom expectations, sunrays in flurry,
The sky makes dawn red, and Sun allures
The air, in restless breeze cavorting,
By promised things which procure
A blushful pink, on allusion's canvas,
The whimsy sky in homely warmth pleasured
Into a fecund rosiness, its secrets goaded,
Flee from shadowed swathes: staid, demure;
And where played curt poem, autumn moon;
Is a sky by the the bold and brash secured

Premium MemberAutumn Spectacle

My green autumn, you goaded me to write.
I love the way you sparkle, shake, and hurl.
Conquering my mind day and by the night,
Always musing about the shorn kiss curl.

Let me approach you with a square crowbar.
You are more snowy, magnetic, and bright.
Light storms whisk the twiglets of October.
And autumntime has a quiescent sight.

How do I love you? Let me deem the ways.
I love your brickle birds, kindling, and leaves.
Thinking of your fine brushwood fills my days.
My zeal for you is that upbeat reeves.

Now I must away with a frozen heart.
Memorize my posh terms whilst we're apart.

When I was seventeen said he
You know how far that I could pee?
Across the mississip
He said, undoing zip.
No need to show me now, I plea.

Why that's nothing, said his brother,
They oft goaded one another,
I had such awesome flow
That in a single go
I filled Moon Lake, and one other.

Their friend said; you all call that pee
I once powered my friend's jet-ski
Tied tightly to the rear
That thing sure did career
Set off like a screaming banshee.

During all this friendly baiting
The three of them stood there waiting
Each of them hanging out
Their now small shriveled spout
Bladders slow in activating.
