Such throaty timbres – oboes and bassoons –
such gowns! My Lady, apricot and plum,
her sleeves ablaze with blue October moons –
for one short night, her villa had become
the very essence of elysium!
To “fortify” us, as My Lady said,
against the winter tedium to come,
to banish melancholy, drive out dread,
she threw an Autumn Ball. Delirium!
We met the equinox with pipe and drum.
The quality of Florence all attended,
and never were Their Graces better fed!
The sun was up before our revels ended –
and Isabella? Still no thought of bed!
Three further galliards she’d yet to tread.
It seems I hear those trumpets even yet,
and taste the sweetmeats of that epic spread
(she’d plied us with light moscatel to whet
the palate) – I believe my mortal head
will throb for ever more, autumnal red!

If miracles were made in the Sun
I would come and see you before the day is done
I would whisper good news in your ears
And touch the passion that has been sleeping for years
And drive out the monstrous fear
Wake up to the peace around you
for summer is smiling within you
Go shopping for your summer wear
And live the life that you always fear
Go partying on the beach, and bring
The carnival back on the street
And wear something nice above your knee
For you are going to make noise in
The street for the entire day
until the stress goes away
You will carnival in state, city, village and municipality
Until you drive the demons out of the town
Give everyone an hand Kerchief to wave and make some
Noise in the place; eat drink and be merry
According to the biblical prophecy
, you can hold the world in the palm of your hand
And the heavens will make you strong
Nature will tell you what to do for life is bigger than you
Sound the alarm in every town and dance till the mountains
Come down, and when your hearts are free you
You will slip away from the crowd and walk
With me in silence by the sea ,and gaze at your destiny.

Parade in the streets, eat corned beef,
And let the darkness flow.
St. James’s Gate is the birthplace.
Let the darkness flow.
Grand day for grazing, life’s amazing.
So let the darkness flow.
Jump in a reel or fiddle a jig.
Then let the darkness flow.
Drive out the snakes, embrace the blarney.
Letting the darkness flow.
It may be the day for wearing the green,
But let the darkness flow!

The stock of the rifle is hand-selected walnut.
I dust a beautiful porcelain lady.
My Nikon needs to be taken out of its case
like a coal black memory.
I pick up a quartz crystal,
put it to my eye
don't know why.
I drive out at night
with no aim or destination.
I go to the Oriental grocery emporium.
Cooking into the unknown
is my space travel.
These things I do are tramlines,
These things I do are rituals
for the safe-side of my mind.

She heard pigeons overhead.
Looking up she saw them whirling and gyrating,
Forming ever emerging patterns in the sky.
They soared on and on,
Until they became fading black dots in the blue.
Such sights would have sent her to raptures,
Sometime back......
But now when she sees them.
She can only think of the years speeding by,
And the chances missed.
And her whole life- a fading black dot!
She is infected with a virus of melancholy.
She walks with lacerations in her soul.
Pain consumes her without flame.
Forever she wages a battle inside,
To drive out the demons of dejection
But she feels as if a sharp knife,
Is cutting right through her heart,
And she winces at every chop.
Though she tries hard to cover her bruises,
They bleed red and make themselves known.
Pain has sucked her out.
In a leaking vessel, she collects her tears,
To water the parched terrain.
Of her drought-stricken domain
Light has sorely betrayed her.
And now she lives in perpetual darkness,
Fighting with black shadows
Day in and day out!

SETTLED ?
Settled now what we are here.
Let's give our life our last shot.
Desires appear and disappear,
sometimes fulfilled but sometimes not.
Spread happiness, being humble..
Settled now that we are here.
Drive out junks in mind, that jumbled !
On journey of life, make paths clear.
Proceed free when love leads entire.
Give your best, no greed by mistake.
Settled now that what we are here.
We have come to give not to take.
Love is the best urge we have got.
Transparent open mind clean- clear.
Love can untie Gordian knot.
Settled now that what we are here.

My friend’s house caught on fire when she was gone.
It was a gorgeous house, in the country, on fifty acres.
She had painted custom murals and decorated every room fancy.
The kind of house people “ooh and ahh” over, due to its beauty.
She had worked on this house for over twenty-seven years.
She was gone that day. It was a devastation. A total wipe out fire.
Not only did people drive out to watch the fire, they brought snacks.
I don’t know which was worse, she told me.
Losing my house or picking up the trash people threw out of their cars.
I was horrified and of course, she was devastated.
Who does this? Some people did, driving up into the yard to watch.
As if it was a bonfire. Sadly, some treated it like a tailgate party.
Utter disrespect for another, leaving trash in her yard like that.

Avalanche…
It only
Takes one candle’s flame
To drive out
The darkness -
In an avalanche of light
To crush the shadows
It only
Takes one snowflake’s song
To start an
Avalanche
Of mercy flowing chanting
In sweet melody
It only
Takes one brave flower
To stand up
Against storms
An avalanche of courage
The power of one
It only
Takes one prayer's plea
From meek hearts
To change hearts
In an avalanche of love
Smothering hatred.
Let us light
A twilight candle
That spreads out
Rays of grace
Sparkling fire -an avalanche –
Midnight’s morning dawn
Let us be
That avalanche of
Mercy’s grace
Brave flower
The candle in the darkness
The living prayer.

He said to them
Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature
Whoever believes and is baptized will be save
whoever does not believe will be condemned
These signs will accompany those who believe
In my name they will drive out demons
They will speak new languages
They will pick up serpents (with their hands)
If they drink any deadly thing
It will not harm them
They will lay hands on the sick
They will recover [MK 16:15-18]

NB This is a repost original was deleted. Unfortunately I was without an internet for two days and I am truly blocked. I am sorry but I shall probably miss some poem. I can't help it.
How pleasant it was to drive out of Louisville,
Accompanied by my dearest lovely sweet Jill.
Quickly we found a vantage place upon a hill.
A stunning scene before us was a joyful thrill.
A hillside green with ferns growing near a rill.
Dotted here and there birds flew with a shrill,
Sometimes finding some rest on a far-off mill.
I saw that some people had planned a landfill,
Big beeches, hornbeams, bushes of cranesbill.
But red dusk fell, Jill and I felt the subtle chill,
To a cafeteria we went for we had time to kill.
