The Book of Souls

The nobility, the priesthood,
The common, the slaves
A life's journey fixed,
Elected for life or
Passed from father to son.

Omens, divinations,
Predictions, reading future
They were skilled mathematicians,
Historians, keepers of knowledge
Recorded details in codices.

Books of fig bark paper
Mayans wrote, kept count
Of Sun's path, tracked Venus
With surprising Accuracy,
Marked zenith twined with beliefs

Hard workers ate well,
Worshiped their many gods
In willing exuberance
Artisans, carvers,
Traded true, cities grew

Peaceful obsidian warriors
Extravagant kings and queens
Fell to their own intelligence
Wrath of gods unfurled red-carpet
For death and destruction

Nothing to eat, nothing to carve,
Nothing to record, nothing to trade,
Nothing to fight, none left to please god
Nothing to sacrifice, simply collapsed.
They weren't spared, would we be?

Premium MemberPRAISE BE TO GOD FOR HIS DELIVERANCE

September 1 Praises to God Bible Meditations Based on Ezekiel 13-15

Key Verse – Ezekiel 13:23 Therefore ye shall see no more vanity, nor divine divinations: for I will deliver my people out of your hand: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.

PRAISE BE TO GOD FOR HIS DELIVERANCE

Praise be to God for delivering us from:
Fake peace
False precepts
Foolish prophets
Faithless promises
Futile performances

Ezekiel 14:23 Praise be to the Lord
for His ways with a cause to:
Straighten us along secured salvation
Safeguard us toward sure settlement
Strengthen us upon steadfast service
Separate us for sanctified stewardship
Satisfy us with His Scriptural sufficiency

Ezekiel 15:1 Praise be to the Saviour
for His Word that comes to us:
Providing us fresh restoration
Presenting to us fervent revival
Pricking us from false repentance
Proving our faithfulness-readiness
Preserving us by His fulfilled redemption. Amen!

Tricking; treating; meeting, eating, sometimes, cheating!
Amidst, mount-like cards, we, like owls, keep on guessing!
Neither hunger nor thirst for souls; play soul polling!
Like jokers and mockers, we do costume knolling!
Ghosts and souls carved pumpkins with lamps keep us howling!
Warm bonfires give us a whole soul social feeling!
Apple bobbing makes the old feel young, strength glowing!
Divinations, fairy, and scary: Mind-blowing!
Pranks prove us hooks and crooks and jacks great trick trolling!
We don't leave experimenting with haunt growling,
Or horror scenes watching; scary storytelling…
Till we, at dawn, like sun rays, see all saints smiling!

Unhinged

So you’re feeling like a lab rat,
cagey edicts don’t experimentally sit well with you
Those white coat government cats
be cheesing you off with the moldy logic they spew

Lockdowns are the latest liberty mousetrap —
Regulatory rules
has you shuffling priorities in a
decision-making maze

Masking your fears makes you jargon adept
Bureaucratic tools
got guinea pigs in info-read disarray
Bombarded by EM waves

Keep Pied piping that pandemic noise
24-7,
sunup to sundown

Audio dosage got you losing your poise
Nine eleven
is the replicated alarm

Nervous ticks
be giving you untimely, irregular palpitations
Keyboard clicks
spamming your eyes with scientific divinations

Herd impunity has you so unhinged!
Injectable salvation
is being force fed in a plastic syringe

Petri dish piety,
it has plenty of quarantine side-effects
Vial hesitancy
will hazard the odds to cadaver dissect

                   Velvet Mentors

You do not know who mine are.
Let's say they are a chorus of human angels.
Who helped me believe that no dream was too far,
No mountain, for any reason, was too high to climb,
No wish could that I could not make come true.

Without them, I never would have gotten far.
But stood like many, waiting for life to happen.
I do not pace nor wait, I have a wish list.
As I accomplish one goal, where is that next mountain?

Mentors have moved on passed away.
Some I of mine are on TV everyday.
Writers, actors, ministers that helped me grow.
Their message, quite simple:
"Panagiota, get on with the show."

I queried, "How can I pay you back?
"Do good to others, always! "
Whilst mediation of them just now,
I penned this most humble creation.
With their help and divinations!

Fair Game

So many times you’ve shuffled the deck,
I don’t know which card will turn up next
So many times you’ve poisoned the well,
I don’t what lies you’re going to tell

It’s not fair --
Your keepin’ us all in the dark
It’s not fair --
The snuffing out of every spark

So many times you’ve dumped your oil --
A truly dead sea and no arable soil
So many times you’ve tilted the table,
With a heart of steel you made our lives unstable

It’s not fair --
You promise renewal and repair
They’re not there,
But to you everything is fair
Fair game

Against your false visions
And lying divinations,
Let us raise up our hands
As a unified nation

So many times you questioned our minds
As though it were us and not you who is blind
So many times you’ve tilted the table,
Your heart of steel made the machine unstable

It’s not fair --
The way you shattered our promise
It’s not fair
‘Cause it’s too easy to be dishonest

                   Backyard Dreamer

The tree, like a graceful ballerina bends,
Her loving arms caressing waiting floral bushes which she tends!

The subtle artistry of nature's dance,
With multiple birds in the chorus line, so entrance!

Such a simple soul as mine, enraptured by God's creations.
Truly not man's~but His divinations.

Oh, please keep me humble and forever grateful for all
your most perfect creations!
Let me find forever joy in such natural sensations!

Premium MemberIn Ancient Times

Roman priests practiced divination
as a means of prophesying the future
they'd plunge a dagger into a temple dove
and eviscerate the living bird.
Then they'd examine the entrails,
especially their livers, for omens,
believing that the Gods would reveal what was
going to occur in the immediate future through such signs.

These readings would both bewilder and fascinate the curious
onlookers, when the augurs would raise their scarlet hands
and announce their awaited predictions.
The remaining doves would get released in a whirling mass
forming a vortex of flapping wings and feathers,
their direction of flight
also an indicator of divine communication.

Nobles would often bribe augurs for favorable predictions
to inspire their soldiers before battle.
These divinations were taken very seriously in ancient times.
It's said that Julius Caesar's death was prophesied by augurs,
and Caesar's adversary, Senator Cato, committed suicide
after he received an unfavorable reading.

Premium MemberWhere Were You In the 70's

The question itself begs interpretation,
The word 'where' concealing so many implications
Is this 'where' a physical place, or state of mind?
Perhaps it's with a higher consciousness aligned?

Boston, London, Paris, or Rome? Cairo, Lisbon, Moscow, or Gnome?
Were you abroad? Were you at sea? Were you in space? --Or just at home?
Perhaps you were in Timbuktu, or basking in the ambience of Xanadu,
Sailing away on pink Chablis, sipping winter-blossom chartreuse tea.

The word itself is a siren, inviting by utterance unimaginable peregrinations
Of connotations, demarcations, gesticulations, imprecations--divinations!
Fathomless depths, layers of meaning, shells of encasement, particulars
                                        beaming:
'Here' is in 'where,' and so is 'were.' Were you here? Where? Posibilities
                                        teeming..

Not to mention 'Ere' and 'Rhee:' Ere you were here, where were you, Rhee?
Ah, Rhee, my bold, my courageous, my daring--yet compassionate Draupadi.

Now ere I bid this poem adieu: Where were you in the 70s is the question.
Hmmm. I can't really say. Forgive me, please, this slight indiscretion.

Prudent Divinations

Prudent divination

Brought back to this.
This stirring cauldron of enamored desire.
Emasculates me out of the gate
Shoot to kill, in a hit or miss

The blurring of boundary the scolding of fire
Devastates and soaks our souls in hate
The great destruction of the interior space
Countdown begins

Another weltcher and clucking fiends
Populate your world of faux plastic grins
The dirtiest of people will enter fashionably clean
Those you call friends
Just smile and nod, swallow disgust again
Faking it all, nodding and blindly agree.
