TETRACTYS TRIBUTE
The tetractys poetic form was devised by the late Ray Stebbing as a grammatical 20 syllable verse of 5 lines.Syllable sequence 1,2,3,4 & 10.Each line to stand on its own,as in my example Ichthys below. The challenge is to express a complete thought, profound or comic, witty or wise within the 20 syllables. The tetractys can be doubled or inverted.
ICHTHYS
White
blossom,
a welcome
springtime emblem,
the foretaste of succulent fruit to come.
BLUE NUDE-Matisse
Her
figure
created
stark sensations,
aroused by the simple blue cut-out shapes
NATAL THERAPY
To
forget
those bygones
done and dusted,
lost,forgiven and now forever gone.
SHORT MEASURE
Eye
poems
displaying
a shapely form-
exempting audition from needless stress.
SUMMER BALL
Love
blossomed
suddenly
that evening
they met by chance,in the 'excuse me' dance.
RENEWAL
Rain
upon
frozen earth,
metamorphised,
now emerging as bluebells in the glade.
REVERIE
Way
beyond
bygone's reach,
ambitions lay
buried deep in his forgotten dreams.

The Look-out
Dare a blade of glass stir
‘neath his eagle eye
or a leaf from a tree silent
take to the sky
A rustle of undergrowth
arouses his concern
from signs such as this one
the look-out will learn
what the enemy’s planning
from where it is coming
another night at his post

Natural Order
That diamondback with turquoise eye
Beneath the copper colored sky
Is best left there alone to lie
Aware of ev'ry passerby
Commanding it's respect
But lofty prowling also reigns
If not supreme its threat remains
So vigilance is what maintains
The losses equal to the gains
This delicate balance to protect
Each predator will become prey
When stars of night find stars of day
The system was designed that way
To keep the intellect at bay
That would upset that order
LIke most designs it has its flaws
For those who don't respect its laws
And seek to fill rapacious jaws
Displaying disrespectful maws
Which grin within disorder
The snake that lies in plastic grass
The raptor’s flight through prismal glass
Are visions meant not but to pass
As though they were but sheen on frass
Only useful when they’re rent asunder
Philosophers are left to ponder
Why nature would allow this wander
'Tween balance here, disorder yonder
Peacemakers struggle… troublemakers squander
Ill-gotten gains, their rotten plunder

The Athens in August
The Athens
August in Athens is always confusing
I spent the evening looking at a white wall the moon had lit up,
waiting for the movie to start.
Staggered into a church where bearded priests handed out bags
of yesterday’s cake.
The elderly lady behind me got none, it was her second time
she had been in the line
I gave her my bag and felt good about my act of charity.
In the deep shadows of the park, I found a grotto displaying
Jesus in he looked like a sleeping angel, one painted by Caravaggio.
The painted Jesus opened his eyes smiled like an urchin
selling himself to a paederast.
Behind me, the nuns giggled and I fled this religious horror.
Came to a lone bar run by a horse that had fled a Russian circus.
As Alice Walker said” horses make the landscape more beautiful.”
I drank ouzo, she had hay.
At midnight we rode through the summer night.

Meet the Man
A covert narcissist dressed in a hand-me-down victim cloak,
Master of the tear-tantrum tactic —
He sniffles, sobs, and simpers until your defenses drop,
Then slides a betrayal in your back so smooth you almost thank him.
A codependent parasite latched to his mother’s emotional tit like a tick,
Bound by an enmeshed dynamic so tight you'd think she birthed him twice.
He’s 40 going on 14,
Displaying classic symptoms of Peter Pan Syndrome with a sprinkle of Oppositional Defiance Disorder every time life whispers “grow up.”
Zero employment history,
But extensive experience in triangulation, gaslighting, and learned helplessness.
He’s the CEO of deflection, a PhD in projection,
Weaponizing guilt like a toddler with a grenade.
He calls you "too emotional,"
Right after he weeps his way out of another confrontation
Like a soggy Machiavelli.
He’s not just a mama’s boy.
He’s her emotional husband,
Their emotional incest dressed up as devotion,
While he lets her make every decision
Between his gaming sessions and tantrums.
He’s the kind of man who, if given a mirror,
Would still find a way to blame the reflection for his failures.

The Days
My mind is bluffing all the around the clock
Getting the real ones suppressed and block
I'm in a flow
I'm in a blow
But the clouds of doubts are covering it all
And coming back to me like fast thrown ball
Trying to change and learn
But instead just getting burn
Shutting and shattering in the corner
Displaying that I'm a good performer
But if replacing your sadness with happiness
And wounds with laughter is not a part of life
Then what makes it challenging
Perhaps realising this knock on my door everyday banging
The path I'm heading towards is like a puzzle
Leading unloaded stress and lots of guzzle
Heard people saying
Life is what it is
Although experienced
There's no much difference in dying and then living and in living and then dying.

Decrypting the code
Who pens the words we express,
displaying state of undress,
of pure heart’s childlike intent,
in vibrational descent?
From the tranquil stillness point,
the light of Self does anoint,
our pulsating, vibrant heart,
to create a work of art.
Vibes interpreted by mind,
which is with our soul aligned,
conjures then a gentle breeze,
penning love poems with ease.
