As the Photograph Dim
David J Walker
There was more color
At one time
Within the wooden frame
Time tested, time faded
Now a struggle with
Each name
And even though the
Dates remain the same
Written in pencil on the back
She lacks enough memory to
Remain within the context
Of the lens
As the photograph dims

time dims
as we grey and hairs thin
its never so full and bold
is in youth when we hold
dreams promises and desires
we are young and the world is ours
we can leap from the moon, land on mars
forever is never done
time is still when we are young
embracing life we reach ever higher
boom! before long
time is suddenly gone
we've settle down
and with comfort we surround
bodies and souls that grow tired
dreams and promises made
we retire to yesterday
new young arise
time is on their side
we let them rediscover fire

Teardrop
From the sky
Rested achingly upon
The ample bosom
Of grief
Oh Divine, my beloved!
Kneel upon thy alters
Bow down, oh heart
On velvet cushion's grace.
Nigh is death
Lean on Thee
Erratic heart
Tumultuous sea
Calm! Hush now. Calm!
Thy belly crawls
before thy feet's sorrow
Given paradise
A tomorrow's dream
Thy brows sweat
And the moon dims
Take my soul
To eternal's promise
Bosom's tears
water the heavens
Heart and the sea
Pleading for the nightmare's end.

Where has the light of life gone ?
LIFE'S LIGHT DIMS
______________
Suddenly I begin to see you in light, as shodow.
Once, Full Moon, Twinkling Stars, in the depths of night,
Sun, radiantly, upon my life bestowing it's healing light.
Understanding - you be Will O The Wisp - in my sight,
yet, realizing my perceptions may not be right.
You, I have touched, felt, been deep inside, you I know.
You, a beautiful woman, these days eluding me.
Me, it seems, you want not, not want to see
as before, when all was new and set free.
A time when you could let it be.
Now, I feel as though I have become the light of shadow
fading into the dregs of darkness, of loss.
Why is it I can not find you ?, the you I knew,
thought I knew when all was bright and new.

He was a shadow of a man,
gaunt and undernourished,
no money, no demands,
hunger is all he commands,
his skin barely filling out his bones,
nothing he owns,
missing teeth makes his words more garbled,
eyes shining like marbles,
his family would scarcely recognize him,
as he took a sad moment to reflect,
nothing to detect,
as he palmed his rumpled hair,
as death came near,
homeless, and no one cares,
distraught, and filled with despair,
as he walks broken into the night,
life dims,
as he prays for the light.
