Disconsolate obsidian waves crash over crumbling dunes,
Sweeping afflicted grains of sand back into the depths,
Dragging my paralysed soul with them.
Engulfed in despondent riptides,
I gasp for oxygen amongst rippling currents,
As a fiery moon hangs precariously overhead.
Blood-red reflections illuminate the stark waters,
While calls of the lost sing to me,
Like sirens beckoning sailors to their doom—
Louder and louder, until it becomes unbearable.

Flaring arms fill with cortisol,
Burning, tangled within suffocating seaweed.
Farther I get pulled from the shore;
The horizon is growing fainter now with every somber beat of my heart.
Isolation shrouds the thickening atmosphere.
Saline leaks into my mouth, drying my tongue as I frantically spit it out.
Hysterical laughter escapes through lips without realisation.
Dehydration overcomes.
Sanity slips with each sip of water.
My larynx sharply tightens—
Barely a noise can be uttered.

Yet the siren calls of the irretrievable continue to crescendo,
Pulling me into an empty expanse, everlastingly.

INTRINSIC LOVE

Love is the unconscious piano,
Which provides rhyme and rhythm to the heart;
It is the pendulum which aids the velocity of the heart;
It is the eyes and mirror which acts as a navigation,
And checks and balances to the heart

Love is the fountain which Waters the heart,
And like the fresh fall of morning Dew which nourishes nature, prevents the heart from dehydration and atrophy
It is the unquenchable ink which fuels the heart,
As a fertilizer acts as catalyst to the soil

Intrinsic love, is the food basket which feeds the heart,
And prevents it from famishing.

I really honor Elizabeth Dole foundation
what it really means to be a caregiver
I'm the caregiver of my husband's
memories now ipte y wn anxieties

my husband is indeed a hero he was
captured a pow Vietnam he was placed
in what they call a hooch he and four other
troops managed to escape set out searching
for other pow's they went in and found senator
John mccain with tears in his eyes he describes
how broken and brave John was he referred
to him as his brother who couldn't walk the four
men carried him out he describes a cage with rage
not as glamorous as the hooch a hut infested
where he was stored the four men rescued
John who was flighted out the four men stayed
on their post starvation and draught the water
contaminated three men refused to drink the crater
water meaning water standing in left over bombs
my husband drank the crater water the three others died
that night from dehydration my husband survived
only by drinking contaminated water suffering
tremendously today my granddaughter has orders
to Kuwait in deep prayers I anticipate the upcoming date

H-F-D-B

Sobriety but with nothing left
Fantasizing about my death
Ask whats inside my mind
I wish to surrender and unwind
Melt some dope on the foil
Watch it roll spin and boil
Take a deep breath of my lost love
Smoke let it out get lost love
Having dreams of ecstacy
Euphoria please come save me
Keeping hanging on but feel the grip
Telling myself it'd just be one slip
Heart beating out of my chest
Just enough for a little rest
Dehydration and arrhythmia
Come on, it's just a pick-me-up
Am I always doomed for agony
Or is this only something temporary?

Nonexistent Seasoning

starry winter night
missing her summer conversation
softly wishing in vain
moving on is like jumping off the high dive in a pool of poison ivy

starry spring evening
missing her winter conversation
a sweet, gentle breeze whispers her name teasingly
moving on is like jumping off the high dive in a pool of heavily concentrated acid

starry summer night
missing her spring conversation
dehydration sneaking up on me as i see mirrored spots of her beautiful image
moving on is like jumping off the high dive in a pool of chocolate coated sewage

starry autumn evening
missing every season of her conversation
another year older and my heart even more darkly clouded and cold
moving on is like jumping off the high dive in many layers of absolutely nothing

Premium MemberFifty-Three Souls

The rig rolled through Laredo
On the road to San Antone,
Its eighteen wheels of commerce
Headed north from parts unknown.
The shipping costs all paid to
Their coyote chaperones.

The plan was clear in concept,
But the method imprecise.
If not the dehydration,
Suffocation would suffice;
The Black Hole of Calcutta
Brought to Texas for a price.

This third verse offers balance,
But provides no peace of mind,
To see these modern slavers
Treating people worse than swine.
And how cheaply they regard them
Once they've crossed the borderline.

Life's Pleasures I

\\ //
Life-sapped,
in late afternoon heat,
felt and dried straw-tongue
emancipates from dehydration
slurping on the creamy smooth
Plush richness of fuchsia dome
Lush in blushing strawberries
Elevated hydration soothes
Added coolness so sweet
Served in a crispy dish
Upon the taste buds
Races life anew
Exquisite vice
Stimulating
Ice cream

February In Igbo

The un-clouded blank sky says it all
As no smile nor anger is expressed above
The withering grasses express the pain
As the foggy air attests to its harshness
The drying streams hope for wetter days
As the birds have to travel far for just a drink
The soil cracks in pains of dehydration
As all await the rains to replenish and reawaken

The rains must come when it is it's season
For that purpose that it will serve in the cycle
The inhabitants of earth must survive and live
To perpetuate the undulating cycle of life

The Final Ride

He sat straight up in the saddle,
tired, no sweat left in him
as he hadn’t drunk a drop
for days. The white salt ring
left on his skin and the
horses neck were crusty, itchy,
stale smelling. He was tough
as weathered leather, taking
his last ride, the last mile,
the last day, saying goodbye
as he rode away. He was no
slouch, he would sit straight
up until he could no longer
hold his head. The horse
collapsed, dead from exhaustion,
dehydration, refusing to leave
his life long companion. With
a snap, the rope tightened as
the cowboy fell towards his
horse, the final ride over, his
final prayer answered, to
ride forever with his friend.

Premium MemberSea Salt

I am the salt of the dearth

tease your taste buds and

drape sweat for discomfort

You need not know how

I came to be in the ocean

not have to walk on water

but why wait for the Ark

instead start walking today

be a mariner in the desert

zest and spice lie in the path

Shed one more weeping tear

express anger fear and thirst

inhale perspire gather yourself

lick your wounds and salve them

for Aloe grows well in the desert

The passage of time and effort

corrects soil and bears flowers

once you accept dehydration

shape exhaustion into crystals

build memories and momentum

reach the source of your spring

float when rock bottom ceases

The river bed expects no less

than your impermanent stride

the shore line patiently points

to an anchor life buoy and chart

scratched into your inner compass

If life gives you plentiful salt

do not sugar coat your palate

savour the tasty flavour instead

take what is on offer just now

and fend off the gloomy despair

Decisions

You can start off with a simple shot,
Or slice open your wrist, avoiding a clot.

You allow dehydration,
Or let in starvation.

You could try drowning,
Or a classic hanging…

Electrocution is an option,
But so is ingesting a toxin.

You might ensure immolation,
To invite incineration.

Jumping from a height can be done,
But so can suffocation kill someone.

why not vehicular impact,
Death on contact.

Lay on the railway,
Leave there to decay.

A drug overdose would work nicely,
But so would self strangulation, if done precisely.

Stabbing yourself can do the job,
Though slow, you refuse to sob.

There are so many ways out there…
However it happens,

I DON’T CARE.

Whether a
Stab,
Or shoot.
A cut,
Or burn.
A drown,
Or hang,

It is always my turn.
It will happen,
You all should learn!

Autumn's Leaves

Cooler air on the tips of leaves tells time.
Roots are in search of the needed moisture.
Looking to the sun for warm ray's to prime.
Realigning it"s purpose to royster.

A rain drop gives to all living things life.
Yesterday's dew drops nurtured the green stems.
Blending into new seasons without strife.
To accomplish beauty it needs this gem.

Was the clouds kind to those outstretched branches?
Did spring showers extend to summer tears?
The crevices of dirt, liquid chances.
Southern winds heighten dehydration fears.

Glorious reds, gorgeous yellows the prize.
Nature's mural of sunset and rise.

Premium MemberThe Epic Getaway

Lets plan an epic getaway
We’ll have to go on foot.
We’ll need to take this hairspray
it’s important how we look.

We’ll need some Dr. Pepper
dehydration is the worst.
We’ll take these Disney glasses
so that we don’t die of thirst

We’re facing certain hardships
so I’ll bring potato chips.
The wild is full of harshness
ooo! Let’s not forget the dip.

It’s important to move serpentine
as we stealthily make our leave.
Be sure and grip the pizza
as we deftly bob and weave.

This makeup bag’s gigantic
but I can’t live without that!
Let's not forget this blanket
and we better bring the cat.

I’m glad that we’ve decided
to start our lives anew.
There’s no one I like better
here, take these iPads too.

As we gather up the needed
I glance at the TV - AAAwwwwww.
“Ladybug’s” coming on! we say excitedly.
“Jinx” we say together, and it’s as clear as it can be
that we can take a little break and not go immediately.
