To mix the two together only brings gray. Battling persona. Never on cue.
For one’s never certain, which facade debuts.
Dark finely feathered, filled with lustful charades
Hides behind a notion of monogamous filled days
Graceful creature. Godly vision in feather white
Drawling towards her a suitor. Virtuous, her guise.
Black swan cannot resist, as she struggles for breath.
White swan now removed
In his arms, they shall rest.
Ignited with such passion. Inhibitions retreat
Allow this lover. Entrance
White swans unaware of this inevitable defeat.
Dark swan found a mate, who’s passions surpass
Coupled forever. Forever at last

Wow!
Spring is
coming soon.
Returning birds
will fill up new nests.
Sleeping buds will awake;
small curled embryos growing-
waiting to stage their grand debuts.
Bare limbs will morph into leafy greens.
With cheers, we too will spring and feel reborn!

Walking outside and the streets are all hopping;
People are strolling or eating or shopping.
Maskers are few and their numbers are dropping
As Covid recedes from the news.
Diners and bars are all crowded and busy;
Sidewalk cafes feature drinks tall and fizzy.
Traffic and bicycles pass in a tizzy
As new storefronts make their debuts.
Out in Ukraine there are bombs that are flying;
People are hiding or fighting or dying,
Yet in Manhattan there is no denying
That Covid and war are taboos.

I have a new short story posted - "debuts"
It was 117 characters too long for a poem.

Succumb to a rabbit hole, avalanche perception
Compiles tiles sliding, interchanging hues
Collapses cement rigidity command of tension
Cube covers corners interior cog subdues
Determined digits dive in darker dire dimension
Coming to glinted dug river bed treasures
Coalesce of pleasures drift in liquid suspension
Culminate in mind crowned proud avenger
Clever surface turner ensures dirt spurns limits
Combative burrow tunnel richly delivers
Coherent limber fingers edges can never inhibit
Campaign clocks widening prize winner
Squander of wonder prevents viewpoint shifted
Deficient Virus solution outrage renews
Seething bacteria rehashed in plastic indifferent
Daunt of grainy agitation, a cure debuts

Personalities, no names just the same
personalities, say what you will, after
swallowing a mediocrity pill...personalities
self inflicted pain, bold lies told
protect and defend at all costs
in the middle, I can’t stop
I want to but for pieces and parts
say NO way
samurai swordsmen conspiratorial debut
punctuated by delusion of self
even when I don’t know, I know
even when I know, I don’t know
Progress debuts again without reframe
Tired, sick of and too...
moaning with heaviness, inflexibility
what do I want, what do I do?

Diamonds, they are liquid light;
their rays, hypnotize the eyes.
Like Brother Sun, they may be harsh;
for they can cut apart glass.
A “girl’s best friend”, they truly are;
they do “dress to impress”.
In the oven where they bake, we live;
awaiting their debuts;
oh, they’ll all become great stars;
performing on stages of the heart;
the audience wowed as never before;
diamonds only get better with age;
we should all become their stage.

It just goes to follow, that the sun can not rise
If the darkness has not conceded its demise
But the night is a part of the birth of the day
Displaying nature’s art in a magnificent way
As sun breaks horizon it’s the end of the show
Credits start to run ... it’s now time to go
A true sunrise chaser knows just what to do
Arriving in darkness, anticipating the view
As sun creeps along it begins with the glow
The colors are intense as the aura starts to grow
The clouds are the artists defining the glory
Cumulous or stratus, they tell a different story
The sky is electric ... on fire with color
This sunrise will be like no one other
A spiritual enlightening comes over me
As the glow of sun’s fire peeks just above the sea
It grows in intensity warming my face
I feel the beginnings of a million other days
The surety in life as the new day debuts
We bid the passing night a fond adieu.

HAIKU MOMENT 9
Weary routes
Unknown potential;
Hollow acclaim
~~~~~~~~~
Indifference
Curious spectacle;
Vain allure
~~~~~~~~~
Win, lose or draw
No one knows;
Quest for the best?
~~~~~~~~~
Be bold
Be brave;
Dare drool
~~~~~~~~~
Morning rain
Lightning flash;
Wet everywhere
~~~~~~~~~
Dazzle debuts
Crowd frenzy feisty;
World-class finish
~~~~~~~~~
Accolades arc
A sea of faces;
Voices compete
~~~~~~~~~
Humility accepts
Harsh reality;
Truth hugs beauty
~~~~~~~~~
If you now know
Seize the moment;
Run along now
~~~~~~~~~
Possessions
Distractions;
Perceptions
~~~~~~~~~
Ready
Get set;
Prompt vanity
~~~~~~~~~
Be brief
Grief groans;
Joy jumps
Inebriant is affection
when hearts to hearts are hot
and pangs can cut the tendering
Effects not short of alcohol !
Come to my heart - take it slow
One atrium at a time
The right - when at first sight
The left - when attractions grow
Ventricles are the portico
Emotion at the door !
In cadence debuts the lifeblood
That solicitous ore !
That synonym - the saviour -
the kindred in kind -
like life and death -co-exist
How much like brethren they are
Live and blood steep in vermillion
How vital they are !
Then one and then the other
One distills - the other gurgles on.
Spring takes its bow early in Florida’s climate
Winds expire, February debuts in quiet
Dazzling lavender blooms on cherry trees wake first
Sweet aroma o’er the verdant landscape’s dispersed
Summer lures eager tourists to beaches in May
Dipping their toes, they feel the ocean’s salty spray
Torrid heat ushers hurricane season in June
Cautious homeowners await the year’s first typhoon
But for late November, Fall seems nonexistent
Taking to nature trails, hikers’ hours are now spent
Wild boar and turkeys identified by their musk
Gopher tortoises chill in shells, deer await dusk
Locals celebrate yuletide holidays with joy
Brevity of winter - nature’s cruelest ploy
A swarm of whispers kisses my face
Like tender blossoms, a full view;
In morning’s bid, I find thrilled embrace
Through good-bye romps as sunrise debuts
On fragrant petals carousing dew.
My eyes follow his parting tracks on wings
As day rouses wisps of garlands’ crowns,
Clusters of buds wheeze a mild buzzing
To invite play, bouquets tap on ground
Their hemlines sway, waltzing all around.
When hours cling of delight, time endures
And I breathe him as buds fondle my hands,
But purple descends to weave sleep’s lure;
Sadly, florets close as night expands
Till he arrives, with roses on strands.
I thought I saw a snowflake in June
Perhaps, it was just silly daydream imaginations
Or were ongoing investigations really do
Upon further horizon inquiries
The sun ended interviews in blushing denial
And when heavenly interrogations finished
The sky was turning guilty blue
I’m absolutely sure
The clouds were somewhere amidst the cover up
Fortunately, a little pigeon squawked
And revealed something of the simple truth
That, there was a brewing
Conspiracy of rumors, flying
So I ruffled stoolie feathers convincingly
To spill the beans, out with his scandalous news
It seems a wintry prima donna
Performer of the coming season
In order to beat the ratings
Broke out early and was somewhere on the loose
Could it be
The very same stitch of ice I'd seen
A snowflake thespian
Acting out in the month of June
Then, I saw a glistening
Of arrogance pass right before my eyes
And tiny banner waved
Followed by the squeaky words “see you very soon”
I rubbed my eyes in disbelief
And then, my tongue was quickly unleashed
As I closed the case of any further flakes
From trying to make their premature Hollywood debuts
