The taxi speeds down the highway
zig zagging to miss the potholes.
It slows as a horse and cart crosses,
followed by the owner's dog.
On the other carriageway people wait
hoping someone will give them a lift.
An old Cadillac smokes its way down the road.
In the town, buildings are like well-worn pairs of shoes –
they fit, still function but have seen better days.

But the people are well nourished, clothed and clean.
Smiles of genuine happiness are all around.
This is a country which lives to a different pulse -
Ché its heartbeat,
Fidel its lifeblood.
People are living the revolution where others have failed –
common wellbeing before personal gain,
society’s hallmark is equality and colour-blindness.

Educated and cultured, enjoyment is beyond the material.
Musical rhythms set the daily pace.
There is a determination to live and succeed despite hardship.
But is it only hardship when seen through Western eyes?
The freedom of spirit is to be admired.
But what does the future hold?
The greatest challenge is yet to come –
influx of other peoples from not so far away.

A TALE ABOUT CUBA

This is a tale
A story of a Caribbean nation
On a beautiful island
Where waves dance
On the shores of a bitter history.

This is a tale
Of a nation, small yet mighty
Caught between battles
Like a football match
Fought not with feet but with hearts and minds.

This is a tale
Of a match that never played
Yet the stadium was full
The crowd, expectant, breathless.

This is a tale of Cuba
An unfinished saga
Of a land ensnared
In a war of ideas

So Here Is Why

So Here Is why
From: Cuba

I help you lock things down tight - order comes from your bones
Grabbing my hand, you look and say “ yep “ 98 years
I look at yours “maybe 99 for you”
might you miss me when my storm comes?

The door is open to the love birds cage
where could they be?
Off to start their adventure, I say
a predictable, great adventure
I am happy,
you are worried

#4 Strawberry Mango
Lots of Mango

#5 Cuba Libre
My other will have the Cuba Libre,
Excellent choice for the lady
Sipping away you say…
we took the same lashings in our youth
You turned inwards
I took the first flight to Cuba
I’m so glad you did

That’s why I never asked you what your
CA 125 # is or was
Numbers don’t matter to me,
you do
I won’t embarrass you
worry you
make you feel other
(that is a sin)
our life, any life
is happening now that’s all.

We curl together to ride out another
Havana storm
And what of the love birds?
They always return
Let them live free in Cuba now
We all must live free while we can

Cuban Nights

Music drifts down into the dim allies
A rhythm tune coming from every home.
Filled with the laughter of broken voices.
Like waves rollicking with the sound.

Cuban nights syncopating by stressing.
The familiar routine of daily existence,
Mystique meaning sharing in the living.
Parts of history claiming its presence.

The people are dying by politics defying.
All rights of humanity in the land to have.
A new religion of freedom underlying.
How Socialism and democracy can save.

More than having music and laughter.
To take their prayers to the higher rafter.

Canada, China, Cuba, and Chile

LORD, this morning, thank you. This SONnet will please, tease, release:
I greet thee, having access to Your throne by Jesus
And His sacrifice on Calvary: We pray against the Virus
With a sunshiny name, an aura of a name, garland ...
Coronoa Virus, COVID VIRUS, or SARS-Cov-2, Thy Hand
Is mighty and righteous, always Righteous, even in judgment
We deserve judgment, but we ask for Mercy
God of Grace and Love, forgiveness and Provisioning
Forgive me my greed, envy, jealousy, smallness and scheming
I intercede for others now, nations and peoples, as Moses & Joshua
Canada, guide, teach, help Canada and leaders there
Cuba,Chile,Chad, Comoros: Guide, teach, help them and leaders there
All states beginning with the Letter "C": help them all, guide its Premiers
All of us deserve judgment, we asked for it in many ways, but forgive!

Shadow of a Doubt

By Craig J. Burt /Jimmy Boom Semtex
Are you ok?
Your brain's rattling like crazy
You're dancing like a ballerina
Twerkin around these crazy hot streets
You say why be a bore?
Life is a chore
Refuse to fade
Like a shadow of a doubt
Silver star filled skies
Shining proudly
Living freely & deep in love
We're no longer
Strangers tonight now
Sensational romantics
Loving devoutly

And the clatter of heels echoes
Upon concrete downtown Havana
Never had it so good or free
The Castros’ grip and communism fade
While we dance chest to chest
Thigh to thigh Lambada-esque
Los Lobos couldn’t be this cool
Nor move so erotic like you and me
For freedom for Cuba for us
This goes on and on
Like a whistling wind
Calling your name
Stop stop and listen
Do you hear it?

Cuba Vs Usa

Americans lifted their picket
When Cuba proved they can't lick it
The bureaucrats came
And went back home lame
The Yanks just can't tolerate cricket!*

*Research concluded American diplomats
were assaulted by Cuban crickets rather than a sonic
bombardment.

There Once Was a City Called Havana

Havana's a great place to come,
The jazz gives you something to hum,
Drive an old vintage car,
Or smoke a cigar,
But don't get too drunk on the rum!

Cuba Burns While Castro Fidels

Farewell then Fidel Castro
You have come to the end of your show
With Che and a cigar you seemed so cool
But over Cuba you no longer Raúl ...

Free Cuba

Free Cuba
To my Mother and Father who lived in a free Cuba

Cuba Libre, Free Cuba. Land of my birth, land of my soul, Cuba libre is what I pray for. Children not able to play, cuba libre was my play ground. My soul can not be free until my Cuba libre is flying her colors for all to see. Once upon a time my free Cuba was proud and free, now my cuba libre is shackled and poor. Let my soul fly with glee once I see my land, my Cuba free.

Freedom For Cuba

(the Rolling Stones play Cuba)

It’s time to rock,
It’s time to talk,
Let’s religion balk,
And let normality walk.

Don’t let the Pope talk,
Don’t forever singers stalk,
We’re writing in chalk,
That secularism must dock.

Premium Member The President Visits Cuba

It has been over 90 years since a US President visited Cuba. I feel it is the right time for this to happen.
The "Cuban people" have suffered greatly under the dictatorship of Castro rule, especially the young.
America is only 90 miles from the shore of Cuba and former President Obama has broken the barrow that has isolated so many people for so many years.
It's kind of like when slavery was on the shore of America for over 400 years, and no one was willing to take the first step to free the slaves.
President Obama said; "I know one visit, and one president, cannot erase decades of history that have left so many Cubans in poverty and exile.
But sometimes the most important changes begin with the smallest step.
I believe in the Cuban people and their desire to build a future of their own choosing. And I believe this changes the way we do things between our countries and over time, it will make all things possible." The question is; Will this continue under the next presidential administration, or will slavery continue to grow? Only time will tell. Will you let me know what you think?

Sugar Cuba

Sugar Cuba?
What's so normal about normalization?

We become a little more socialist
They become a little more capitalist

We all meet in the middle and hold hands… How sweet!

They give us Cuban cigars
We give them rap music
A form of torture

We can now visit Cuban hotels
Cubans can visit Disney World

My only question is
Does Cuba have toilet paper?

Cuba 1958

Cuba 1958

I remember it like the day before yesterday Cuba 1959. Batista,
the corrupt dictator, had fled, but this was revenge time and
many of his collaborators were rounded up and shot; and what
often happen in such occasions there were onlookers cheering
and having their bloodlust satiated.

There was one man, man wearing a panama hat in his left hands,
refusing to wear a blindfold or have his hands tied behind his back.
On top of some steps he stood against a white wall, ready, but
there was a hesitation; waved his hat to the weary executioners.
A volley of fire, blood trickled down the steps, deep red, rich.

They but the body in a coffin, but there was silence, one man’s
courage had shamed onlookers and soldiers into pensive silence.
The revolution didn’t matter anymore, but human dignity did…
Is this all, does nothing change have we just ended one dictator
with another one in the name of the people.
