Written: May 27, 2024, For Robert James Liguori Contest, Inspired From Glenn Hughes Song " Burn"

              ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The sky spills scarlet, a burning stain,
Even after midnight, ghosts remain.
Shouts of oblivion and a lady's name,
A swell of her palm burns a voracious flame.
The city is burning, a blaze at night,
Her inferno evolves, a frightening sight.
We labeled her as coarse and dissed her claim,
Ignorance of the reality intensified the flame.
Devil egg yolks, they dissed, an awful deceit,
Her envious says ripped a tear in the peat.
Wrath you all, she said, that you'll not learn,
My departure bars any hope for a return.
They chuckled, ignoring the sarcastic refrain,
Until she whispered, Burn!, and shared her pain.
The ground trembled, a warning unheard,
We were transfixed, by the horrible word.
There is no time to leave, no way of escape,
The inferno's outrage is a merciless drape.
There's not much time for prayer or despair
The fire devastated it without compare.
Premium MemberNothing Is Forever
Nothing in life is forever,
nature's seasons teach us that;
people leave, people die to be seen never
no gold remains where once love sat.
Everything in the world is ever changing,
but, oddly my grief stays;
nature and memories always re-arranging,
and gold moments fade to weeping days.
Premium MemberImpermanence
The azure ecstasy of the glistening autumn sky
fades away with the blizzard of the polar wind.
As on the wings of winter the golden leaves fly,
gone with the surge the fleeting joy of the mind.
On the concave canvas of the hazy horizon grey,
rainbow dreams gleam as the transient arc of art.
In the clasp of the curling clouds they melt away,
gone with the rains the hues of the broken heart.
To a verdant vase the sunny vale turns from brown,
the petals of the life flower called happiness unroll,
shred by the cloudburst sky coming crumbling down,
gone with the thunder the volatile bliss of the soul.
The sparkling crystals of luminous mind’s chandelier
shatter at the sudden strike of the sequential strife.
In abyss the ephemeral flickering candles disappear,
gone with the wind the last flash of the transient life.
Not a Karen the World
Nonchalant, the leaf whirls without care
On the wind it rides to somewhere
Tree-free, it flies with bird-flare
A swinging light feather
Kite without its string
Airy last fling
Roaming to
end in
new…
…new
trip where?
Heaven knows
Eagle eyes watch
wandering winds blow
on leaf’s air-current show
Released, rides to an unknown
Leaving its toils, freed at long last
Departs, dancing for the next recast…
Premium MemberIt Would Never Come Back
Once there was a love
That was a pearl of dew
Glowed in my heart’s meadow
In its luster I found your charm.
In your charisma glittered a love
Brighter than the patina of rose
The wafting scent reminded me
Once there was a love.
Once there was a love
Prettier than the butterfly
That flew away from my garden
It would never come back.
The spent golden sun had set
In the gloomy sky of winter
The cold wind whispered to me
Once there was a love.
Once there was a love
Fathomless as the seamless sea
I sailed in the wrecking storm
Drifted to the forlorn shore.
I walked deserted on dune of despair
Followed the fleeting mirage
Reached the oasis where I felt
Once there was a love.
(25 second instrumental . . .)
Yesterday there was love
Your eyes blue as the sea
Yesterday there was love
Full of sweet happy glee
Each day was divine
To guard and hold dear
And to treasure for all time
And then you left me
Your soul was set free
Yesterday there was love
Oh now I dream of you every night
And I face this world in fear
Has it really been a year
Yesterday there was love
It was a one time love thing
Now memories I cling
Yesterday there was love
Everyday is a tear
Oh now I dream of you every night
And I face this world in fear
Has it really been a year
Yesterday there was love
It was a one time love thing
Now memories cling
Yesterday there was love
And then you left me
(25 seconds instrumental to fade)
Once Loved
Where has our love gone?
A love that was once there
More profound than the heavens
Brighter than the stars,
A love filled with the fondness,
A love that was but yours and mine.
Then came that day
When you abandoned me,
Left me stranded midway—
Alone and lonely!
Forsaken and forlorn
I wondered why?
Our love was to last forever,
Where did I go wrong?
If you would but seek once again
the sweet path to my once-loved embrace,
If you weep for me
and wishes to kiss me
I would pardon your perfidy…
Maybe, the love there was once
is now long gone, never to return.
My yesterday of long ago
when our love was warm and tender
filled with minutes,
that flowed on a river of passion
as our hearts explored the eternal depth,
of love's glorious light of romantic interludes
like ripen fruit we bathed in sunlight
where we saw the face of love,
through our eyes reflecting pool,
filled with emotion
before we were plucked by the passing of time,
left alone to rot away
as the seasons of our love went from Spring to Winter
to leave a lonely shadow looking at the parched ground,
of our love's dry pool of purpose
buried in the dark loneliness,
that cried so long ago
when once there was a love
Bobbys Girl Has Disappeared
In 1962 Bobby’s Girl was a hit song, this inspired me.
In my 12 year old mind I believed girls would want, Bobby
I waited and waited for this dream girl to appear,
each day I wondered and thought, could this be the day?
Low and behold while waiting 12 more years, she appeared.
She became Bobby’s girl in 1974 on our wedding day,
A time well worth waiting for she gave me three sons.
Yet today, this song and her have disappeared for I have lost her,
I no longer wait in wonder and my inspiration has gone.
Bobby’s girl has disappeared
