I am progressing and I am happy,
A little bit added here, a touch removed there,
I am progressing and I am happy.
Two steps forward and one step back,
I am still progressing and I am still happy.
The pace may slow
But I won't lose my glow,
Progress is progress
And I am still happy.
But things do sometimes stall,
With progress hard to find at all.
And frustration about to leave my happy mood behind
That is when I have to remember what I have forgotten
For progress to be gotten
And I am happy again.
You can do this too,
If you have a basket or two
For your eggs
Or variety is the spice in your lives.
Ink to the page; it's a marvellous thing,
Like rainbows and chocolate and tinkering.
When my pen hits the page my soul is flowing,
With ideas to keep the universe going.
I love it, it's true!
So old, yet so new.
My mind is an author,
No one ever knew.
If you were to ask me;
"What do you want to be?'
It is obvious, wondrous, as you can see.
Ink to the page; it's a marvellous thing,
Like rainbows and chocolate and tinkering.
-Ariana Kulikov 2015
I THOUGHT YOU NEVER ASKED
This morning the taste of mint and chocolate
Upon my tongue
My exposed nipples under my silky gown
you whisper words in my ear
that I never heard before
I sigh! with admiration as I tiptoe
to reach for your kiss
I put my arms around your neck
You whispered softly
Make me hard with your eyes
Be my dark surprise
Ha! Ha!
Why the laughter?
Babe! it my way of saying yes!
Oh! yes! oh yes
and more
Lonely and in silence I eat chocolate cake
When I arise my dessert walks behind in ripple shake

Candles sparkle, reflections bounce off the accent wall I painted red
"When a man loves a woman" bangs from the speakers
Pops from the wood echo through the room
my body trembling, your hands are impatient
Tires coated in rain water glides across the black tar blaring from the window cracks
The heat from your dark chocolate skin and the shine from that cherry limade lip gloss I
picked up from the corner store seemed to scent the room
You change tremendously in size
My emotions are tangled like yarn in the hands of a kitten
My temptations are like mating tiger in the safari
We reach a new esculator of feelings
I take it all in, the sounds, the popping of the wood, the music from the streets drums in my
ears
I give into you
You are floored by me
And the steam from our love makes the candles sweat
As we lay there panting like the haunter and its prey both staring at that red accented wall
I turn to you with love in my smile
and then I close my eyes
and when I open them I find myself alone with only a memory of us in my empty apartment
I ride my “Women Inspired” Schwinn up to my friend’s path.
My bike is magenta and the path is chartreuse,
Swathed by the spent spring buds of a tree.
I see Mister, who I call “Meester the Dog!”
My friend slides her door open,
Mister jumps to greet me.
He is like a little, bright, brown pierogi,
Boiling between my friend and I like we were the sides of a kettle.
He is so happy, he pees on the patio and we smile and laugh.
I see my friend standing by the door,
And her great chocolate eyes and effulgent smile,
So comfortable in her soft grey top and her soft grey pants.
So comfortable in her skin.
We talk of the mundane, of money, the funny,
Tigers and Appleby’s, bogies and birdies.
We are absolutely ourselves in each other’s company
And she gives me delicious tea.
I put my magenta bike into the wind,
Pedaling happily home.
I love this woman.
Tomorrow many will observe a resurrection.
The holy will stand in church and celebrate the power of a god.
Today I stood on a bud strewn path.
Today I saw my friend.
Today I saw the sacred.
Today I celebrate.
