The Lament of the Prodigal Son

Part of my inheritance I did receive,
Though unworthy was I that gift to conceive;
Younger in mind, and wilful in thought,
I went to a distant land and squandered what I brought.

I wasted my Father’s gift in a wanton way;
From Grace I departed, and fell far astray.
Then, passing into spiritual insensibility,
The husks of the swine I desired to share,
Whose keeper I was—yet none would spare;
I longed to eat what they were given,
Yet no man gave me aught, though I was driven.

Thus was my soul perishing, bereft of all answer,
Having lost the dignity of sonship I bore;
Not merely as a hireling, for some wage,
But even as an unworthy slave.

How shall I return, when I have no boldness to plead?
I see how my brethren thy commandments heed;
Their obedience they keep, without blame,
While I have cast away my sonship and name.

O Father, I have sinned; I have gone astray—
Yet behold my repentance, and look on me, I pray.

The New Ten Commandments?

Thou shalt consume, consume, consume.
Thou shalt not think.
Thou shalt watch crap on TV.
Thou shalt eat crap (and like it).
Thou shalt feel inadequate.
Thou shalt hate others.
Thou shalt feel helpless.
Thou shalt only think of thyself.
Thou shalt feel superior to nature.
Thou shalt see fear as true and love as false.

Bugger that!

Premium Member If You Love Me

If you really do love me,
Do what I say, said Jesus.
Don’t delay or put it off
To some other time
Only today is your special day
To do what I say
So - do what I say today.

Tomorrow’s tomorrow
Completely unknown
Your strong expectation
Your highest of hopes
Your plans and intentions
No certainty know.

No matter how sure
You think you control
God alone knows the future
So give him your all.
Give time every morning
In prayer at his feet.

Discover how perfect
He’ll work out your day
If you will but listen
And careful, obey.
Yes, ‘Keep my commandments’
Through every new day
Discover your Saviour
In a precious new way.

“If you love Me, keep My commandments.” John 14:15

Premium Member Memento on the Moon

Memento on the Moon, our demise that’s too soon—
since ancient moral laws, our reasoning had flaws.
The Ten Commandments bold, the wisdom of old told,
its light spread in a rush, but now collective hush.
Man’s creation will bloom, like destructive mushroom
casts the atomic streams over our shattered dreams.
Echoes of progress vast – tyranny’s shadow cast,
encapsulated whim in firmament now swim.
The paradox of Man of should he if he can,
or must he heed balance between greed and lost glance?

The King of Glory

You are the King of glory
You master the people so
I'll tell you of a story
That happened long ago
Twelve disciples Jesus chose
The multitudes were led by them
They were faithful in their work
And they'd answer only to Him
The commandments were then followed
The people felt they had a place
Many a men called out to God
And God answered with His grace
Many a men relied on a promise
That Jesus would come back once again
They thrived on being God's children
And God said turn away from sin

                   Heart of my heart,
                        here’s where
                           we talk.

                   Heart of my heart,
                        here’s where
                           we walk.

                   Heart of my heart,
                        here’s what
                           He taught:

                   “If you love Me,
                        you will keep
                            My Commandments.”

The New Commandments

And God’s Arch Angel Diametes looked at the world,
And trumpeted from on high.
There shall be Three more commandments.
And so as it is said so shall it be.
I say unto thee:
Thou shalt not eat Sugar or covet
they neighbours chocolate biscuits.
And it came to pass that this commandment was law.
There was lightening and sounds of thunder.
The Arch Angel spoke from on high once more.
I say unto thee:
Thou shalt not partake of Alcohol.
And it came to pass that the commandment was given.
And there was a hush over the world.
For men were saddened by this commandment.
The Sun went dark and the Arch Angel Diametes
spoke again from on high.
Thou shalt not eat fried food especially French fries.
And so it was ordained and so it shall be.
For those who seek the Good life shall follow
these new commandments.
And God was pleased with what was done.

Blame Game 201

We prefer putting blame on pastor-counseler
For secretly meeting her without him
He, not suspecting, divide & rule strategem

She later explained, I gave Dean my side
In case you blamed me for our "fall"
It was indeed love (of this world) after all

Best way forward, Dear Heart, seek His Will
Our free will always is our freedom, personality
LORD God never canceled The Commandments Ten

Ten Commandments

The Ten Commandments

Why are these stones
So important they say
Do we really need them?
Let us remove them from display

It's more than just old engraved stones
That we place upon our walls
It was written by the finger of God
 It established our Constitution
It's the foundation of our Laws

We must always guard this Landmark
Never allow them to take them away
Write them upon the post of our house
Write them upon the gates and highway

Write them upon the table of our heart
We must teach them to our children
And diligently pray

Our land is filled with violence
 Crimes floods the streets
 Why Because we have forsaken
The laws that made us free.

America! Bring prayer back in our schools
Let's let God's Law be the Golden Rule
Yes, we need the Ten Commandments
Let us not be a Fool

Premium Member God's Commandments Are Fine Gold - Psalm 119: 121-128

Having done what I consider right
I plead to rescue me from oppression
those that seek my harm always
keep me safe from every tension

Please as your servant find good
may I know peace and your presence
so that God's salvation be in me
looking to the Lord for His essence

Cast your love upon me, please
tell me fully your holy law
so to fulfill all your righteousness
this makes me truly stand in awe

As your servant I want understanding
so I learn that you are true
in due time trust, you'll act
seeing sin judgment is due

Gold real shining fine gold
describes your holy commandment
so right are all of your law
hating all sin is my pronouncement

(This is my " Psalm 119 project" which I began to write a couple of years ago, so this is the sixteenth poem of twenty-two poems I've written over that time to cover all of Psalm 119.)

Past Tense

I could make excuses
Or claim I was possessed
But fact would find its way out
Of duplicity confessed

So I will speak those truths
Clandestine in my past
Although far from my first mistakes
I vow each one the last

I have worshiped money
My words have been profane
I have ignored the Sabbath
And caused my parents pain

I’ve smashed some helpless insects
Thought things much less than pure
I’ve pilfered things that were not mine
Because I wanted more

I’ve lied for no good reason
Desired someone’s spouse
I've longed for their possessions
And coveted their house

My excuse has been I’m human
An average bipedal fool
The Lord made only ten mandates
I’ve fractured every rule

Yet God is ever merciful
So I strive every day
To keep all Ten Commandments
Past tense is past… I pray

My Four Commandments

MY FOUR COMMANDMENTS

Do not take me away from the battle field
Else you quench my flame in the face of war
Because its when the river rushes in anger over a precipice
That we behold the miracles of the waterfall.
Do not rebuff me of my chances and opportunities
Else you become a clog in the wheel of progress
Because the path which the Buffalo clears to the stream
Same will also be tramped by the smart Antelope.
Do not deny me of my daily night sleep
Else you amputate my exceptional inestimable dreams
Because it is until you kill the dream you can't kill the man.
Do not backstab me or cast a slur on my person
Else you kill a fellow man with the dagger of the mouth
Because when a Jaguar's engine roars with fury
What curses shall one send after it to counter its speed?
