I have a dream
Where flower petals will rain
On the world, stitching
With the others in their fall
A garland that the rain angels
In their awe and reverence
W'd drape around the world
For standing up in unity
Against Coronavirus ferocious
The multi corned devil
Which has woefully bedeviled
The billions of people lives
Lined up for survival in a battle epic
That has thwarted the human brain
Stretching it to its last neurons
And taking a heavy toll on lives
Emotionally in tatters
And economically in ruins.
Trampled under the devil's feet
And devastated by its preemptive strike
Fear not the human race
You will live to take this fight
To another day, trust me
There will be a new dawn, it will be yours
When this malady ghastly you will put
On the run and in banishment,
The world will recede no further
Let tears of grief flow in abundance
In memory of our unforgotten souls
Who checkmated by fate
Waited for death in isolation, which
Denied them a say to a final goodbye
To their kins before passing away,
And in memory of thousands few, who
Fighting hard to push the calamity back
Fell down fighting their last war.
A culture of guns,
An epidemic of hate;
Domestic terror...
Stoking bigotry,
Klan pride & racism:
Cooing doves silenced...
Mocking clarity,
Rising white nationalism;
Justice checkmated...
Scorned
She lit the fire of hate
Now she's burned all over
She's deflated a lot of hearts
Cheated on herself with a million people
Dine with your thoughts of regrets
Wear that beautiful dress on your tears
Kiss your mirror goodbye and say sorry to your heart
Because no one can hear you
No one can see your pretty face
Memories of you are like space
We don't live in space
You brightened your part with all our torchs
And left us in darkness
But only in darkness you can see the light
Deceived by karma
Checkmated by your own smart moves
Now you cum here to beg for acceptance
U want to be forgiven so soon
scorned!!
Aptly said and boldly spoken.
Chess is over
lacking all stakes and honor.
Every Black chess player went to Checkmate,
All others forfeit!
Let's ignore the real someone and scatter back homewards.
"We didn't much play him, Good Folks, but remember
In this world so dishonest,
We're dressed up quite nicely.
And, oh yeah, Chess is a serious endeavor. . ."
He's undefeated, not Dead
so just hold the Presses.
Once he's passed let me know,
with however badly he suffered.
To work towards a chess tournament ten foolish years,
To be recognized, honored, and considered a Legend. . .
But, hey, we're Checkmated Winners,
So just don't cause that trouble!
Since he's owed chess monies now, and it's about that that you're asking,
Now listen up People,
We said he won't get his own money!
The moment you realize you
have been checkmated, all your
strategic moves have failed, the
walls you put up weren't as
sturdy as you thought, some
how your warmth found my
guarded heart, I thought an
entire army couldn't reach me ,
it only took a beautiful woman
with long black hair, she has a
rocky past but so do I, why
should that compromise the
chance of happiness, we're two
lonely souls that drifted into
each others arms in this
moment you got me in
checkmate
My Dear Poetry Soup Member,
Pleased to know some of you enjoyed the piece I wrote "Just like November."
I just want to forever light up a room like a burning ember.
I'm striving to be a talent people can look back on and remember.
By now most of you know I'm incarcerated.
But when you prejudge me it makes me sad and frustrated.
My back is against the wall and I have already been checkmated.
So avoiding me totally makes me feel discriminated.
Get to know me, I promise I'm not contaminated.
I just long for love and to feel appreciated.
Sincerely,
Poetry Soups convict Jimmy
Note: Written for Brian Strands contest "My Dear."
The clouds covered over,
the sun in the spring,
A pawn took the queen,
and checkmated the king,
The flowers bloomed,
at winters start,
Say around the time,
you stole my heart.
