Premium Member Cabbage And Beans

Far be it
from me to lecture
others on best methods
for success -- myself no paradigm.

In my defense, though,
many of us are hardest
on ourselves, less critical
and gracefully lenient when
it comes to others --

But with self,
constantly aware of every
pimple, even those well
hidden – I often wonder
why so many of us bother
to even own mirrors?
(reflections so subjective)

Too self conscious!~ Like,
who cares what I eat for
breakfast!? Unless it were
cabbage and beans….

Premium Member The Lament of Zeus

Thou, Minos, know I’m weary of all things,
Of wars and deaths and cabbages and kings.
I wield that battered shield that is the sky,
And with my strength protect what ‘neath doth lie:
But what when Earth itself would wish to die?

Premium Member carrot and cabbage pies

Detroit rabbit couple ride their fish balloon in the Michigan skies
They like what they are throwing; there is happiness in their eyes
We wonder if they know what they are doing; as they throw out some pies
Made of carrots and cabbages, not delectable unless you are flies.

Premium Member cabbage woman

I like my vegetable women raw, raw, raw
This was sung by the local lah-dee-dah
He is a jokester from upstate near McCaw
We did not know if he meant “rah rah rah”
Or did he mean rather “raw raw raw”.

The vegetable women rolled their eyes.
They were unhappy for sure, no big surprise.
One was a cabbage woman full of ants and flies.
She had lots of ideas, but many were not wise.
Never liked the lah-dee-dah she said to the sunrise.

Premium Member Cabbage Patch Dolls

I had heard about Cabbage Patch dolls, but now they are alive….
Growing in a garden near Winsted Ranch on Highway Five
They parted their leaves and began giggling when they were ready
Discovered last month by their benefactor, master gardener named Freddy.

He was fretting at the time about whether he could keep his farm going.
Not seeing at the time this is the way God had his future growing.
Now everyone and their partner wants a selfie with the Cabbage Patch dolls.
Freddy has made this into a destination place; he gets all kinds of calls.

Girl Scout Troops and Girls on the Run have him booked through twenty-six.
He has been able to pay off all of his debt, and is no longer in a “fix”.
Freddy is grateful to the Cabbage Patch dolls, he would like to keep them all.
“But we want to go with the girls!” They argue. This is their battle call.

The Village We Damage

Who told you that in the village
It is all through garbage
And one can’t life manage?

And who said that every village
Swarms with Evil and The Savage:
The Devil or his Mirror Image?

What we do to the village
Is its picture damage:
Nature’s custodian deserving our homage;
In it few cars and hardly Road Carnage!
Where had sprung many a helpful adage!

And we forget from cities grows no cabbage.

Premium Member Under the Cabbage Leaves

We were found in the garden under cabbage leaves, my twin and I.
Our grandmother saw us first, but she did not want to be our mother.
So she sent Mommy out, and bam. There we were!
She almost missed my identical twin, and she stepped on her foot.
That is why my twin always walked with a limp.
Our father and grandfather were amazed and delighted
When they carried us into the house.
Grandpa wanted to keep one of us, probably my sister.
But Grandma said "no"
And that is how we were born.

Some in Government advocate taking away guns,
yet the majority of them have armed security.

Those who scream loudest about open borders & building a wall,
have walls and gates to hide behind.

They tell us we can’t go to work but stay at home each day,
because we’re in this together, politicians stay home-
but draw full pay.

I’m in the camp who believes,
we wouldn’t be doing a lot of these things;
if politicians had to suffer by the same rules they set for the rest of us-
“Jus’ sayen’”!

Stuffed Cabbage

Stuffed cabbage rolls waft thru the house
old memories slip in and out,
Babcia i dziadek would be proud
and Busia and Cioci would be too.

A head of kapusta to Golumpki formed
the cousine curiosity so tasty and delicious reborn,
give me a kiss upon my forehead then eat
Dai Mi Buzi and smile, jesc, the surprising gastronomique.
