Shattered glass and broken promises,
reflections of how plans once made
can suddenly become just memories...
Crystal clear and shining hopes
that sparkle in the mind's array
of hopeful dreams and quiet fantasies.
Thoughts of wine sipped by the fire,
the tenderness of spoken words,
the sweet seduction of an eager soul.
Quiet moments, conversations,
assurances that love would last
but wine soon warms and passion can grow cold.
Sullen thoughts, a broken heart,
the sound of silence in the air,
lingering echoes of a closing door.
An overwhelming silence
that is only interrupted
by the shattering of a wine glass on the floor.
Broken Promises are the labour pains
that birth the words “I’m Sorry”.
Good intentions don’t ring the cash register.
Nor do they heal the wounds
that sutures have only temporarily closed.
Title: Children of Broken Promises
(25 Lines)
They signed their names in ink made of blood,
A treaty scrawled on the bones of the poor.
They shook hands under marble skies,
While cities burned in silent uproar.
Children played with bullets for toys,
Lullabies hummed in the throat of a drone.
A mother stitched hope into her shawl,
But war tore the thread and left her alone.
What prayer can pierce a soldier’s ear?
What hymn can silence a tyrant’s laugh?
They plant flags like daggers in the earth,
And call it freedom—this butcher’s craft.
The rivers carry whispers of bones,
The mountains echo their iron song.
History bleeds through pages of lies,
As empires fall and yet march on.
O children of broken promises,
Your cries are etched on a shattered sky.
You are the ink in tomorrow’s poems,
You are the reason the stars still try.
Why speak of love with tales so grand,
If you never learn to hold a hand?
Why make promises sweet and wide,
If you never intend to stand by their side?
Why is it truth, that only when gone,
Do we miss the light we had all along?
Is value found only in absence and pain—
Do hearts awake only in rain?
The world saw Shah Jahan’s love endure,
A monument vast, so bold and pure.
But Mumtaz, whose name the marble bore,
Never glimpsed the love the world would adore...
I trusted you,
I let my walls down for you,
You made a fool of me,
You tore me apart.
My heart has been broken for the last time,
You were the straw that broke the camel’s back,
You never really loved me,
But you hid it so well.
You hurt my best friends,
And that hurt me too,
It took me 9 entire months,
Just to find out what you’d done.
You and I had something unique,
Not a day passed where you didn’t say “I love you”,
All that’s left is broken parts,
Broken trust, broken hearts, broken promises.
I saw a side of you that I never wanted to see,
A ruthless, vicious, heartless side of you,
You’re just like the rest of them,
Never truly satisfied.
You broke the trust I had in you,
And you broke the heart I gave to you,
All the times you said you loved me,
Well, those are all broken promises too.
I laid down here next to my restless heart
And I tossed it in the water
Made my wishes known
I will not suffer for it
To love and be loved
What's left of me, you can have it
Feast until you get your fill
Do you know what I feel?
To be your sustenance while I starved
I'll take my empty plates to the garden and smash them all to pieces
Bury them next to the dreams I had forsaken
Among all the other flowers that refused to grow
Where did it go wrong?
We made a lot of sweet promises
Weak foundation, broken soul
Endless days of torture and snoring
Now, my life is falling
The day you left I died
Vultures are still feasting on my body
We parted on a golden dawn
What a cruel world we live
I tried but her past couldn’t let her be
Why did this happen to us?
Her face was like the bopping sun
Her smiles were rosy as rosy roses
Never knew her heart was full
Of darkness and tears
Now, there are two people alone
Every day, I rove alone like a homeless dog
I am a stranger in my body, walking
Down a silent, ridiculing street
Broken memories
Living in the past can be very catastrophic
Our love has jumped off the cliff
Days of cold, shivering chimes
I wish she could have trusted me more
But her past killed her before we met

Sink full of dishes
dust covered coffee table
nights of loneliness
Promises are made only to fade quickly with broken vows that are never given a chance to be kept.
How easily they are gathered and weathered and swept under the woven rug.
Empty words of love are spoken to tease your heart that is bleeding and broken,
But soon they fade into the bitter, cold night, in hopes of finding a place to lay down and die without a fight.
When your tears subside and you find your way out of the foggy haze, you step into denials' search for better days...only to find yourself looking for someone to blame for all your heart ache and shame.
In the shattered mirror left hanging on the wall...you are left to come to a realization...and you spend the rest of your life protecting your broken heart.

Are you a person who keeps his promises or breaks them all the time
Take the one most people at New Years make to themselves after that last bottle of wine
The old saying I am a man of my word what does that really mean
How about our governments and what they claim they are going to do for us ,why do they not just come clean
A broken promise can cause a great deal of pain to the person you make it to
Take for instance your wedding vows over fifty percent of the people never follow through
Or how about the old classic , I promise to never do that again
It is not a question of the person breaking the promise it is a question of when
Accountability for our actions should not magically disappear
By not being on time it can cause a cascading effect and make it impossible for other people to keep their promises I fear
If we want our children to stick to their word , an example we must surely set
Actions do indeed speak louder than words , keep your promises it's something you won't regret

Fear of God was healthy for friends
The relationship was it, not ulterior ends
II
Fear of God is still widely spoken
Love of things, brings Promises broken
Broken Promises one fail to keep has a
condition and oftentimes one will huff and
puff when things doesn't confirm what was
lead to expect was a result of broken promises
Ought not be eked out. One should lean towards one's will give it one's own best shot
Think about others feelings, Once a child now
an adult for some hearts are fragile than others.
For the broken cups,
for the undone smiles,
I fatally predict to ...
slight promises...!
"Whatever happened to Paris?"
she asked
recalling the long ago
promise he'd made
After twenty years
she still did not
possess a passport
"That was important to you?
I never knew," he replied
with a nonchalant shrug
as she picked up her pen
to sign the divorce papers
Have you forgotten what it was?
Have you lost what we could be?
Too many broken promises you’ve given.
Too many of us lost needlessly.
Perhaps under a different sky they’d still be here?
Perhaps with a different voice love never would have disappeared?
With all your words, where was the truth?
With all your promises where are the deeds?
Why does the air in my lungs feel like hot tar trying to drown me?
