Over six decades
slinging dirt around
reckless hearted one
over six decades 
having dirt slung at me
Time to get out the bleach
scrub things clean

Butterflies~
scarred and stained,
breathe within a glass cocoon
spun with black-widow silk and smoke,
waving weary wings
in the midst of nothingness,
c h a i n e d with bleeding petals
from a garden of grief,
caught in gossamer greed,
that feeds insidious seeds
to this chrysalis heart,
weeping in seething silence,
as the world cares not to heed
tunes of trauma,
ricocheting through
flutes of patience,

The toll of this harshness grinds my bones which now lie bleached in the searing sun. Painful knowledge of ecstasy no longer mine. No greater sorrow exist than the intoxicating memory of you now no more to be. The void infinite and cold,  this emptiness black in its totality.

They were straight of limb as the bullets flew
Made up of true blues and fair dinkums too
When they landed on that bloody April day
They were told to push inland to ensure the stay

The fighting was fierce and brave men fell
Australian, New Zealander and Turk in the hell
The bravest men fought the hardest fight
And went inland

I knew him but very little
He's a father of a boy and he's homeless 
I knew I had to lift him off the cold and dark streets

Took him in, helped him with a job 
Rent free and everything else was on me
I encouraged him to find himself again

Sound the shrieking alarm
A red flag has been abruptly raised
A sign of surrender dipped in the dying essence of a cracked open skull
Demanding blood spilt in the form of vengeance, in the form of dominance
The enemy stands as porcelain statues
Perfect in stature, presentation decorated in brilliant armor with a glorious title

Old  granite face enjoyed  job in  sewer
He was king of the under ground brewer
Everyday he'd hide away
With the hot lines he did play
Then old bleached gator scared him away

On Bleached Seagull Sands

Over the crys of seagulls
gods whisper loudest
over rain, and children voices
heavens open, declaring
'Sorrow is a pagan mask,
to scare the spirts
of envy away!'.
In Summer, tides rise
longest, crustaceans
crawl highest, only
to be devoured sooner
on bleached seagull sands
warming, burning, leaving
a decaying, vanishing shell.

Bleached of Colour
 
My moments of levity cause me such pain, when ever I smile blades strike at my 
brain.
Memories flood synaptic paths, depositing debris and silt from my past

I’m bleached of all colour, I’m black and white
I’m bleached of all colour, I’m dead to this life

Dredging up lost heart aches and pain, this flotsam

Desert heat cuts no quarter.
Ever.
Blanched white sky
deceitful promises  of ‘the American way’ –
“Bring us your tired, your hungry, your poor . . .”

We lied.

They come.  We build higher walls –
They come.  We shoot to [accidently] kill.
They come.  Vigilante groups patrol the border.  With guns.
They come.  Two gallons of water
