Spring in Your Eyes

Spring in your eyes –
I feel it there,
the way they smile.
Like winter's heavy cloak,
the days of stress,
simply erased.

I fall in love every spring.
primavera –
the sound,
my hearts favourite word.

Flowers unfurl,
days stretch long and bright,
the sizzle of barbecue,
and your birthday light.

Woman's Day,
I carry blooms to Mom,
her smile, a sunbeam warm.

You also bring flowers to me,
and my heart

 I keep it hidden between the folds of my skirt. They told me I had to wear it but they don't like that they can't see my legs anymore. I keep it hidden in the bows holding my pigtails together.

Birthdays were always shared.
Two cakes sat mid-table,

I've lived through rain and sleet and snow,
but where did all my birthdays go?
Behind the stool? Behind the chair? 
I've looked all over. They ain't there!

Do they celebrate birthdays in heaven?
Or do they even care anymore?
Are there  birthday cakes handed out at the pearly gates?

Birthdays Are Such Fun

Yes, Birthdays are such fun, for you get something good and something not so good. Let's just say the something not so good is a health issue. My is Sciatica. Ouch. I made 79. The something good is I won a scratchoff prize of thirty dollars and the money has rolled in from there. Smile.
