Premium Member Make Me Whole - Potd: a Collaboration With Heidi Sands

Oh, precious one, I need you...
Be the missing ying to my yang.
Come on home to a safe haven
In this warm, cozy heart of mine.
Stay forevermore, I implore thee, because...
Without you, there's a hollow there!
              And I'll journey through
         This vale of tears, incomplete.
Akin to sunlight without the sun,
            Or a shadow without light,
Or a Romeo without his Juliet,
Or a pearl being formed without an oyster.
On my own, I am but a starless night.
My dearest, say you need me, too.
Let me be the sparkling star that shines
With light to fill your heart.
I will be as the sun that rises
          To make the shadows dance.
Together our home, will be our universe
Where pearls are at our fingertips.
Warmth will fill every hollow corner
As tears dry and smiles commence.
               We'll be a shining duo
High as the moon leading tides.
These tides of love in strength we'll share;
           Moving endlessly together.
            I'll reach your cozy heart
          Where I'll stay forevermore!
All this could be, if you complete me.
I beseech you, make me whole.

Poet's Note: I'd like to take this opportunity thank the prolific, tremendously gifted poetess, Heidi Sands, for being my duet partner for this contest. She jumped at the chance to collaborate with me--despite her current struggle with writer's block--and I couldn't be more grateful and appreciative. I'll forever cherish this romantic poem we created together. I really couldn't have done it without her. I appreciate you, Heidi. xoxo

Swallow Whole the Moon

With mouth open wide
I swallow whole the moon
hoping to feel the tides
deep within the womb
of my feminine side
allow this man to bloom.
Pregnant with ideas
I am giving birth to poems.
These rocks, rivers and trees
are all my native homes,
a glossy jagged marble
to sanctify these bones.
So look above no more
upon the seas of night
to search for Luna, grand,
no orb will grace the sky
for I have snatched her fullness
and ate a great moon pie.

Premium Member Being Whole

With hands outstretched,
Lifted a small distance.
Palms to the sun, warmth
Felt, heartfelt. Eyes aimed
At the light, all seeing.
You are, embody who you
Want to be. Who you see
To be. Make your choice,
Yours to make, you see?
Whoever says you’re maimed
Fails everything, it’s etched
In your whole being:
You are who I am seeing,
Complete and whole to me.

Two Halves of the Whole

Secret kisses in the dark make endless night seem bright;
Endless kisses from the heart, my mind and soul's delight.

I alone know the gift you bring of rose-resplendent light;
Alone I know the things you bring, that bring my smiles to life.

Soul-safe in your arms, and this darkness sinks from sight;
Holding you, caressing you, our spirits one in flight.

The colours you bring, hues of rhodonite and rubellite;
The songs you sing, soothing vibrations through indigo night.

A loving word, a tender touch, colours burst and ignite;
A look, a smile, a certain style, I crave with all my might.

A love inspired by the sensual words that you write;
Loving you could mean, to me, there is no wrong or right.

With our words combined poetic vision takes flight;
With our words entwined lovers' hearts unite.

The warmth you bring, a click, a love that feels so right;
The love you give, a click, comforts me every night.

Sending messages with my keys, hoping to excite;
Receiving messages from your keys, our hearts unite

When you touch me in tranquil amethyst twilight;
When moonlight touches us in the grey and blue of night.

Premium Member My Whole Body Shivered

I watch your lips move as you speak,

your tongue curls against your teeth.

I feel your smile as we share a look.

I want to know your likes,

your dislikes.

What are your hopes and dreams?

I want to hear you laugh.

Walking, your hand touches mine,

we play with the simple touch of each other's hands.

I don't tell you but my whole body shivers.

An hour passes,

it feels like seconds.

We lie looking up,

I look but all I can see is you.

I don't tell you but my whole body shivers.

Your face is etched

permanently

on my eyes.

Your stare is gentle.

I feel sand under my feet.

I hear waves against the rocks.

I don't tell you but my whole body shivers.

We are standing at the steps

in front of your house.

Sitting holding hands.

We never moved

from that first spot.

It was my heart that traveled miles.

An angel slowly dims the lights.

Day turns into night.

I don't tell you but my whole body shivers.

You lean an inch.

I lean two.

My heart like a bonfire ignites.

I swim a blissful ocean.

Our lips touch.

We move closer.

Our mouths

slowly,

ever

so

slowly,

meet and part.

We kiss.

I say good night.

I walk away

the fullness of you

embedded in my heart.

I didn't say - but you know - my whole body shivered.

You Are My Whole Life
There Is No Goodbyes

Time is treasured
Treasured and only given once
Once only to use wisely
Use wisely before the life ends

Life ends is brief to say goodbyes
Goodbyes are not forever
Forever to love each other
Each other with meaning

With meaning remember with silence
Silence in each other’s embrace
Embrace with wet tears
Tears of losing you

Losing you forever
Forever our whole lives
Lives of our close friendship
Friendship that cannot come to an end

I Lost a Whole Weekend (Please Pardon My Rant)

I am your champion, I fight for your cause,
my love and devotion give some people pause.

When I saw you I knew you, just like with your dad.
I guess our deep happiness makes some people mad.

I work hard at my job, so that we can live,
and hear me now, son, when it's time to give,
I am the one who ups the amount,
I've done this more often than I can recount.

I also work so your dad will be covered,
for doctors and dentists and allergists and others,
and who do you think pushed him to go
to the skin doctor some two years ago?

From the moment I met you, you felt like my son,
but this is a battle that cannot be won.
When your dad and I married, I didn't steal him away,
he's just as devoted to you to this day.

I heard someone had told you that I was "controlling,"
(I can't even write this without my eyes rolling).
Who insisted your dad fly to LA to see you?
Who worked overtime to pay for this venue?

I encourage his freedom, I've not clipped his wings,
his happiness, above all, is the important-est thing.

I will not be silenced, nor be vilified,
and it just breaks my heart when you take HER side.

I am LOVING and GIVING and ALL THAT IS GOOD,
and I'm tired of being so misunderstood.

So, pardon my migraine, it wasn't intended,
my strength just gave out as your judgement descended.

I lost a whole weekend, I slept like the dead,
I was just too defeated to face down my dread.
I kinda' felt reality shatter, unsure what was real,
like in "Jacob's Ladder."

We're getting no younger, your father and I,
the older we get, the faster time flies.
I love you as if you were my own child,
I'll not carry this burden unreconciled.

Premium Member I Am Not Whole

I am not whole.
Half of me is gone now
and I don't know how
to live without her.
     I grieve for all the
happy times we shared.
For all the morning cups
of coffee she brewed,
for all the meals she
cooked, for all the times
she scrubbed my back,
for her kiss on my hand
as I held hers in mine.
     Her light made my
dim light so much brighter.
Her beautiful smile made
     me smile inside.
The spring scent of her body
has me on a constant quest.
It is the little things one recalls.
I lack enthusiasm to get out
of the house....to get out bed.
I want her back!, echoes daily
in my mind, and I find
I can't go on without her.

A Whole Christmas Mess

This year is different
Surly you see
Covid got Santa
He set the elves free

Prancer’s in charge
Of running the sleigh
The gift bags reek
Of manure filled hay

Comet and Blitzen
Are engaged in a spat
Over which one will fill
The jolly guy’s hat

Dasher forgot
To strap down the tote
Rudolph’s nose has a short
And started to smoke

Donner’s mask was too big
So he traded with Cupid
Both were ripped in a fight
Over something so stupid

Now their noses are bare
And they can’t risk the spread
To innocent children
Sound asleep in their beds

So they’re two reindeer shy
And one big guy less
The sleigh cannot fly
It’s a whole Christmas mess

Transcendent in that unparalleled
Attire!
I confess I cannot help but admire,
And always did,
What all other men should find very
Much
Irresistible in her;
It is as if,
With the merest uplifting of that
Proud and arrogant chin,
The outstretched hand, it's slightest
Touch,
She effortlessly could defer
The uncertain fate of whole nations.
Suddenly, at the corners of the
Mouth, that insidious little grin...
And I am left wondering, again, what
Now for these new deliberations?

World, Whole World

World, Whole World

Its the apprehension

of the unrevealed

Plucking and clenching

at the organ of love

Intimidated yet curious

Cautiosuly taking

that first step

Aiming

to be open-minded

Frolic and discover

as two

more so than one

strolling easily along together

Eyes opening up

Optimistically both

want more

Tick, Tock

Pictures painted

Bright hearts with

ability to beat as one

To hurt for her

To love for him

To fight

for them

Promising not

'till the day I die'

But

each new day

we arise together

love you I will and

support you, I'll try

Never doubt

you will always be

My whole world

A Whole New Meaning

Out of the mouths of babes isn’t like it was before.
What they here is worse, than they speak poor.
Words that a young one should never hear.
Innocence than fear.

So please choose your words as kind as can be.
Please don’t hurt the babes, there as sweet as you can see.
Let them grow, learning there is joy all around.
Sweet words of love is an awesome sound.

They are only little for a short time.
Read them story books of rhyme.
Play games, go for a walk.
Listen to them as they talk.

So young, so innocent and when school starts.
Show them confidence with kind hearts.
Let them know how proud you are.
Using words of kindness can help them go far.
