Best Untethered Poems
Salt tears drip from leaves,
to land on tea-colored pages.
Hopes and dreams,
written in the ink of history,
slowly blur and drip
into the underworld of the
abandoned and long forgotten.
Salt waters of the ocean
and tumbling waves turn
stones and pebbles to sand,
erasing familiar shapes
and throwing up barriers
to once precious memories.
Dimming eyes look out on
unfamiliar landscapes of a mind
inching inexorably into
a vast emptiness that steals
learned behaviors, abilities,
and the past, leaving nothing.
The empty eyes wander
but do not understand, for
the spirit that occupied this frame
has broken earthly chains.
It now soars free, no longer captive
to expectations and this mortal life.
When everything in your world
is beautifully colored
you float on a cloud of bliss
limbs float untethered
shine like wings, you dance
swirling, swaying, swishing hips
spread your wings
fly, arms folded
to embrace
breathe deeply
store joy for rainy days
the light offered by life
and the shroud of darkness
offered by night
singing up to the rainbow sky
eyes twinkling with a weekend getaway.

limitless
endless rounds repeating
banquet of unmeasured sustenance
liquid light
released into coolness
assuaging my soul's brown thirstiness
eyes open
unguarded, unafraid
sinking in spangled star reflections
color arc
rushing joyful cascade
letting go, untethered forever

If wishes could quench my thirst for you
I would be eternally drunk on requests.
My hunger well-sated by ardent feasting
upon a banquet of untethered desires.

Original poem: 'When your Eyes Meet Mine'
A blessing of narwhals, swims Arctic seas
their unicorn horns held high in the air:
never having seen a thicket of trees.
Navigating waters that quickly freeze,
serenely aloof, untethered, and rare;
a blessing of narwhals, swims Arctic seas.
Swimming through frozen seas, quick as you please,
they're the undisputed masters up there,
never having seen a thicket of trees.
Naturally nimble, they glide and squeeze
through cracks in the pack-ice without much care,
a blessing of narwhals, swims Arctic seas.
Riding invisible currents with ease,
they jostle and spar each other with flair;
never having seen a thicket of trees.
They seem to fly, as if on a trapeze,
awed by their beauty; I can only stare.
A blessing of narwhals swims Arctic seas,
never having seen a thicket of trees.
Untethered to this earth, I am a bird.
I’m winging and I’m singing in the sky.
How glorious this feels, but I’m not heard!
I wish for all to know my joy. I fly
back to the nest upon the blossomed tree,
where blissfully I let my voice resound.
There are so many things that I could be!
By merely thinking it, I now am found
in water, and a dolphin I’ve become!
With glee, I’m moving free. Bright flashes are
sea creatures drifting past me. I succumb
to pure enchantment. Then I see a star!
Out from the sea in my OWN skin I lift
as up… up…. toward night’s first bright star I drift.

In the sheltered shadows of dreams,
boundaries and limitations are nonexistent.
Imagination liquefies the ebony of space,
while thoughts swim amongst the stars.
And immersed in a sea of quietude,
silence suppresses sound;
amplifying the murmurs of silent thoughts.
And your restless pen leaks ink, leaving a trail
of dribbles down the face of time
somewhere in your subconscious mind.
Dodging distractions,
while avoiding the perils of indifference:
feelings, untethered from reality, are allowed to roam free.
And a plethora of poetic musings
morph into verses and stanzas;
as vowels and consonants stand shoulder to shoulder
culminating in groupings of witty words.
And upon awakening, an outpouring
of creativity and talent
gleaned from your heart and soul;
bleeds onto the page, and a poem takes form.
Adeleke Adeite asks for amour,
Portions of love in a plentiful pour.
Sharing sweet sighs
And Heavenly highs,
Fabulous fantasies forevermore.
"Unspeakable Love Contest
If I were a sailing ship with my mast set most high, I would let the wind guide my way and steer it not would I. My destination it would determine, and I'd ne'er regret the waves or the changing of the sea, for where my journey takes me, then that is where I'll be.
Little by little,
thread by thread,
I am becoming untethered.
My questions trip over one another,
my thoughts churn and roil.
A silence that bewilders
settles around me like dust.
That’s enough of the world for today.
Falling raindrops weather rocks
untethered from time and clocks.
Fueling a thirsty Earth,
water stimulates rebirth.
Vapors condense in the sky,
and as countless years pass by;
falling raindrops weather rocks.
My verse begins
where logic ends
Escape its mission
new light to bend
The easy answer
the convenient close
Now left to others
by others chose
Each phrase a path
that leads inside
Beyond where dogma
schemed and lied
A light there shines
unto itself
By grace of nothing
above all else
The music starts
once halfway in
To cleanse your mind
of lies and whim
Words join each note
to dance in song
All time untethered
—from right or wrong

News, News, News
TV's come untethered
Business, Business, Business
Politics left and right
From dawn to dusk, and onto evening
And far into the night
Pundits, Experts, Talking Heads
Some quite lively, some quite dead
Studio audiences and callers-in
Vying to be heard above the din
Hundreds of channels, options galore
Comedies, movies, talk shows and more
For the serious viewer, watch a docu-drama
Decked out in bathrobe, slippers, and pajamas
Is all this really better than the 'good old days'
When there were only four channels, only four ways
To while away the time, potato chips and couch

I've struck a snag after a long develops steps.
To a recent attitude over alliance depth,
I investigate this frightening atmosphere.
On top, winning expresses me insecure.
Because of my hearty assurance, I'm here today.
Divine grace has favored us for countless days.
I'm ailing back running with my unique mindset.
God, the Divine, contrives a chart for us, don't fret.
I can't travel to this area alone or by potent force.
It's all mercury; there's subtly nothing else sparse.
I'm defenseless to impact or succumb to anybody.
Every day, there is solely a requisite mission boldly.
But I'm evenly a pebble and embody no braw feeling.
Conception utterly lingers the power of God's crafting.
Despite our slightness, shapes harbor an awful misgiving.
In our style-driven culture, inner self-fosters are laying.
The fence of affection grows stouter as unfolding.
The Lord has appropriately arranged everything.
We are more poised than we reckon and form sound.
A wall that set us free, not the myriad way around.

Like a thistle seed
at the mercy
of the wind;
I cling to tufts of
untethered threads.
I've no roots,
no destination,
no destiny and
no ambitions.
Like a snowflake
in a flurry:
I'm both unique,
and commonplace;
as I drift through life.
But you are like
a fledged dove,
riding the wind
on wings of hope;
in complete control.
You're my breath, my soul,
my everything.
You are the breeze
that carries
me aloft:
teaching me to fly
like the birds and
feel one with the wind.
