Premium Member A Kind Hello

Proverb 12:25 "Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up."

a stray lost
in her thoughts

i saw her
sitting there
nursing a frown

so i
reached out
compelled
to offer
a warm hello

no reason
no motive
simple
unadorned
unpretentious

the smile
on her face~

it startled me

made me forget
my troubles

suddenly
all seemed
so insignificant

it was a smile~

that changed
in one instant
the color
of my sky

Premium Member Cosmic Dreams

Be it evidence consequence or coincidence
Every night as I succumb to somnolence

Heavenly smoke rings of frankincense
Rise upwards with sweet opulence

Dulcet dreams inevitably commence
Without fanfare hype or pretense

While sweet loving arms of providence
Wrap around me a shroud of benevolence

Under a scented canopy of impermanence
Ablaze with the aura of glowing confidence

Revealing universal secrets of magnificence
I humbly bow in unpretentious reverence

Adrift in solitude so many nights hence
I reminisce of nostalgia in the past tense

Street Flower

When the orange edge of the sun rises
above silver tint hues of an endless horizon
I sway with silent elegance in the meadow of your heart
You 'd pick up all scattered petals from dusty pages of the past.
And there you find my concealed love...
It is then when you recall untainted colours of the promise
forgotten truths and everlasting us.
It is there where you blow softly your Spring breezes
in gardens of fragrant nights
So that in a tomorrow, this unpretentious margarita
would waft its aromatic scent
once more in those amorous deep-set eyes.
Slowly It falls untamed, innocent, and pure, like a child's dream
in the tight-pull of your never-leaving arms.

Premium Member Welcome To My Avatar

I held the calligraphy brush and
Practiced the movement for hours and hours
Somewhere betwixt art and dance
It was meant to look as effortless as a breath
Simplicity at its core
At first glance you recognize
A tall wispy tree on a little island
Surrounded by a flowing current
That’s when I tell you that my avatar
Is the calligraphy symbol for ‘play’
Not only do I love the fact
That it is crisp black on white
But the symbolism is multi-faceted
Several correlations come to mind
Play and nature are preeminent and dynamic
Unpretentious is the notion of freedom and grace
Creativity’s natural interaction with the universe
Welcome to my avatar its play that I embrace

I Never Fell In Love

Falling in love is easy or so I've heard it said
Don't know up from down, it's crazy in your head
All you need is vision of this sexy charming face
Your heart then disappears, leaves without a trace.

Oh crap why can't I fall in love like other women do?
Why can't I find the right guy who'll help me see this through?
Hell, all I want is happiness and then be drama free!
Something sure is lacking, deep down inside my me!

Clinging vines are not my style no pretense of any kind
Not impressed with the many who are standing in my line
None of them attract me with the physical attribute
Big muscle, slick hair, well I don't think that's cute!

I want a guy whose smart and likes to talk to me
Who makes me laugh is unpretentious....Seriously
Who can answer all my questions, never hesitate
I believe he's "out there," I think his name is Fate

But most of all I want him to put his foot down hard
not let me get away with a single inch nor yard
Where's the brain I'm looking for ? Tell me do you know?
Cause he better run like hell , it's time to start the show!

The Voyage of Life--Youth

Ruffling gold blooms and leaves, hue dimmed by time
A gilded frame holding a slice of life’s history
I’m drawn into the younger man, the vision sublime
Sailing stolidly upstream towards his destiny

A castle in the sky, all ether and phantasm
Drawing him nigh with its ivory flirtation
The possible reap of his boundless enthusiasm
Limited only by blossoming imagination

As he departs, I do wish to share my blessing of age
Hard-won patience and placid perspective
If only to inform him, to act as his sage…
But would it deter him from his futile objective?

A glance as he navigates, back to the angel he calls
Warm reassurance for his doubting mind
Far behind the angel, a modest castle's solid walls
Little does he know, the home he will find

Vainglorious dreams bathe in youthful euphoria
With volcanic demands upon fate and destiny
Unpretentious walls’ comfort to replace phantasmagoria
Brash strivings supplanted by consistent humility

I envy him not, his naive, headstrong trouble
Through pitched battles, my dream castle faded away
So lovely, yet impossible to heal the burst bubble
Such ethereal visions life's truth did betray

The High-Tech Birthday of My Niece-Thru Video Conference

A really a lovely way to celebrate, the Most
Dear one’s birthday, in a high-tech mode, sure
Thanks to the modern technology in IT field
That enabled all of us to participate, joyously.

It is no ordinary persons’ birthday indeed!
But of a very unassuming and a gentle soul
Which, is the very embodiment of sincerity
And whose only concern is welfare of all.

She is very tough but I wrongly describe her
For we are yet to see a more kinder spirit
In human shape except for saintly people
She is the crest-jewel of our family legacy.

Simple to the core with absolutely no airs
Always concerned with the plight of poor
A hand that is generous to the fault, with
A heart, that abounds in care and virtue.

Such is the persona of our niece, dear to us
Not a word I write here is an overstatement
But an unpretentious outpouring of our heart
That ever beats for our niece; Aruna the dear.

Premium Member The Color of Butter

While closing my eyes, I return once again
to an image that nestles at the foot of the mountains
Snow crowns San Jacinto as it shadows the valley
I am there as a child in the house with white shutters
Red brick and mortar, and siding like butter

A southern front porch, is facing the hills
There are tall amber trees, and a stream, I recall,
somewhere that wanders, like a dream to remember

Bits and pieces are kept in a keepsake I've held
They filter on down to shelter me now,....
To wrap me in comfort, when I dwell in the dark
grieving for loved ones, who were there at the start.

When the chill of the winter, or those sleepless nights, tossing,
fills me with losses, that shadow the moon...
I'll see grassy knolls, and bright alfalfa acres,
A house and a barn framed with painted white fences

The house unpretentious, where yards need attention
Mist skimming the water, ducks swim in the pond
A small corral… my Dad, dressed in Levi's…
and a pitchfork, in hand, holds sweet golden hay
A barn, and twin stalls, a red chicken house,
a clothes line, where white sheets are bleached by the sun

The house is alive, morning bacon is frying,
Mom is listening while cooking, to a radio show
Clattering of dishes, and the chattering soap stars
fills the kitchen with sunshine, like a breath of fresh air
Warm are the colors, resembling butter
Wallpaper borders in bright, happy yellow.

There are echoes I hear, of a house in the night,
Comforting sounds of a room in the dark
My cat nestled close, at the foot of my bed
where I'm wrapped in the memory of that place where I lived

What If Thanksgiving Celebrated 365 Days a Year Part I

an earlier draft of this barely satisfactory missive ex post facto, i chomped asper with upper dentures upon evincing a couple of typographical errors, in up rye or draft, and did not wanna dodge being a spell bound stickler for typing words correctly.

though no obligation to trot out this fixation sans zero misspelling tolerance, a compulsion with any concomitant obsession found me reposting before a repast of dessert - so there Ghost of Marie Antoinette, wherever you might be hiding - i can have my cake and eat it too!

Minus trimmings and over stuffed ego freezers,
but altruism, civility, Dharma bum ethnocentrism,
gratuitous homogeneous internationalism,
karma mosaic opportunism, quitessential righteousness,
unpretentious vivacious wide world yipping,

brouhaha dutifully emphasizing friendliness,
antithetically booing critical, popularly pugnacious
spoiled trump petting uber western yikyak,
zealous antipathy craving everything.

a hypothetical, mental, rhetorical thought question
occurred to me just moments ago
sans, milk of human kindness bubbles frothily
   upon major American holiday,

   thar and sisters exhibit philanthropic
   good-samaritan charitable ambitions
   especially, towards indigent that crow
for bare necessities

   other than
when Thanksgiving rolls around, and dough
nuts to dollars even most frugal misanthropes
play feigned charitable card egoistically glow
with ambient benevolence, civility,
   diligent energy, and friendly hello

and sundry pleasant greetings

Premium Member I'M Normal, Get Over It

I’m normal, get over it!

I don’t wear women’s clothes
Pout my lips or paint my toes
I don’t eat twenty cakes a week
Or do a selfie and show my cheek
I haven’t tatts all over my body
And crying all day’s not my hobby
I don’t have a fashionable label
I don’t believe all I watch on cable
I wasn’t bullied at secondary school
I don’t wear sandals and a cagoule
I never show my feminine side
My hard drive has nothing to hide
I haven’t got a flag as far as I know
I don’t like people who call me bro
I’ve never kissed a man or petted a pet
I’ve done nothing I really regret
I haven’t a beard, I like a shave
I’m perfectly normal, my name's Dave

A Tribute To Mother Teresa

A helping hand,
To the emancipated,
To the hated,
To the poor,
To the sick,
To the unfortunates,
To the downtrodden,
To the orphans,
To the widows,
To the disabled,
To the crumbled
To the oppressive and confounded.

The help you rendered,
The comfort and feelings you blended,
The sympathy for the destitute,
The care and concern to the wounded
as healing substitutes.
The honour, the love. the affection, the blessings
that were showered on you,
Are just too less in these words to describe you.
The unpretentious life you led,
The hapless and the hopeless with whom you dealt,
Honest, selfless service was your mission
A countless times I bow down before you, oh mother!

Premium Member Loner's First Wish

I weaved us together by day
In my lonely room, marveled
At your features, your Pa's sole present,
Memorized the curve of tulips,
Unraveled your bold walk
Having accepted the unfamiliar,
I kept watch
For proof of our union.

Today I exhale as I view
Your perfect face, straight
Unpretentious; your sharpness
Moves me--that fingerprint
Only a parent can read.
I ease now beside you, grateful
And patient, to dip us,
With even breath
In time's clear ink.

Premium Member Rapture

The goal of life is rapture. Art is the way we experience it.
Joseph Campbell

A calm, unpretentious, breathtaking connection,
A hypnotic glimpse of Zen-alike delightful flection.
Spirit healing serenade into the borderline,
A serenity of a viable pond is lost in perfection.

The laconic calmness that is invoked and divine.
A magic soul, soaring in sync with heaven's shine,
untying of mind and soul from bowing emptiness.
A sigh of solace is followed by another whine.

Achieving inner peace and tackling stealthiness.
Silky ripples, awash in tranquility and richness,
Innate calm is layered with rustical sylvan charm.
Embraced by the arms of unwavering prettiness,

Words began to ooze from the scarlet smarm.
This work was iconic; I've never seen a palm.
She moved ecstatically; she had no tale to tell.
Defeating demons and surviving a swarm

Dance, dance akin to a child before he fell.
Lose your inhibitions below orbs and spell
In the glow of affection, dance to the glee.
Dance, dance, as a baby learns to quell

Dance is a trick to happiness and ecstasy.
Dance is the dialect of a huge banshee.
Dance is a specific way to discover your mood.
Dancing before a kid is dangling on his knee.
