~ I was packing up my brushes disappointed and said I'll try one more ~ my avatar is the result of not giving up ~

I held the calligraphy brush and Practiced the movement for hours and hours Somewhere betwixt art and dance It was meant to look as effortless as a breath Simplicity at its core At first glance you recognize A tall wispy tree on a little island Surrounded by a flowing current That’s when I tell you that my avatar Is the calligraphy symbol for ‘play’ Not only do I love the fact That it is crisp black on white But the symbolism is multi-faceted Several correlations come to mind Play and nature are preeminent and dynamic Unpretentious is the notion of freedom and grace Creativity’s natural interaction with the universe Welcome to my avatar its play that I embrace AP: 3rd place 2020, 3rd place 2021 Submitted on January 20, 2019 for contest WHO IS THE STAR IN YOUR AVATAR sponsored by MARK MASSEY - CONTEST CANCELLED

Art, dance, play, nature, freedom, breath, creativity, self-expression all come together in one small space. I do love your avatar, even more now that I know its provenance! I am reminded of the multiple talents of Joni Mitchell and Cat Stevens, who not only wrote, played, and sang songs, they also created their album cover art. Delightful, Line.

I too, do calligraphy and I love to draw in pen and ink...thus, I had to "Fav" this one as it resonates with every fibre of my being.

Aha, this is telling and smart; I think I had known it meant play, but I had forgotten. This poem is truly a reflection of your true natural playful attitude, my friend. Line, it is wonderful!

Thank you, Caren. In my bio I had mentioned the meaning of my avatar and that's where you might have seen it. I really didn't l learn to play much before my retirement. My husband was always the playful one which is probably why I latched on to him in 2003 LOL.
