Best Tel Poems

I, Icon

They spied me in the sky, dropping bombs of love
on Ferguson, and bitchy women's rooms; and rednecks'
shooting range was next, the blooded boxing glove.

They spotted me in Tel-aviv and also in Tehran, collecting
Jewish kisses for the Iranian Imam.

They toasted me in the family courts, breaking hearts
I quickly soothed, and at their breakfast;Klu Klux Klan,
I spread their toast with jam.

They gifted me with patted back in Auschwitz and
Guantanamo, compassion was my hand; while Isis
and Seal Team 6, provided me a marching band.

They lauded me with accolades, the bankers and the poor,
while serial killers and the FBI, shot my name into the sky,
like Gotham on the screen.

And now I rest my head this night, beneath the troubled moon,
for tomorrow I go partying, with venerable, Ban-Ki-moon

Nagbepaling

Wie waak oor ons gans die wakkernag?
Vind sondes.lank vergete
n aanklag eggo in die gewete
Dalk net stank demone
Wat slaaploos toi-toi in talle drome

Watter wekker skrik sy meester kaal
Wyl hy rondtol.in n lakenhel?
Skape, pennies en sy woorde tel
Of plak gebede saam met drome vas
Teen blank plafonne en die linnekas?
En ook skimme wat eens mense was
n vingerskrif op die klagstaat straf

Ander sluimer niksbeduidend
Wereld werk nog steeds misleidend
Introspeksie hou het geen verband
Onwelkom het net ingekom
Soos infeksie in n agtertand

Prokureur teem onbeholpe
'k kort n advokaat
n leuenverklikker wat moet wèèt waarvan hy praat
Opgetof en opgetoga en n omkoopmagistraat
Sinies en insomnies
naghof ronddool in n doodloopstraat
Wie sake uitgooi maar dan skelm uitstel
Weereens more ons beroof van geld en slaap

Premium Member The Dragonfly

One of the advantages of growing old…one of the things I most adore
is how time slows down allowing me to enjoy the wonders around me a little more.

Yes, once I entered this unhurried state…perhaps the biggest prize…
is the time I have to talk to the trees…the birds…the dolphins…
even the dragonflies.

She landed on my hand…this dragonfly…then looked up at me and smiled….
“I’ve been flying for a long time.” She said. “Do you mind if I rest on you a while?”?
“Not at all.” I said as we walked together on the sand…
(actually I did all the walking while she rested in my hand.)

I thought there’s so much I can learn from her…so much to understand…
until she yawned and asked, “Can you tel me a story?” as she snuggled in my hand.

I wasn’t prepared with a story but I said, “I’ll give it a try.
This is story about the stars that twinkle in the sky.

I bet you didn’t know this little dragonfly…it’s probably something you don’t think about
but a star only begins to twinkle when it’s light is about to go out.

That’s a sign for an angel to fly by and set that twinkling star free….
to thank her for all the light she gave…then gently toss her to the sea.

Sometimes we can see that shooting star…sometimes we catch her final flash
as she transforms into a starfish before entering the water with a splash.

The dragonfly must have been quite tired…I’m sure my story was boring…
but when I looked at my hand…she was sleeping…and I think I heard her snoring.

She slept for quite a while as we walked along the beach that day…
and when she woke…she thanked me for the story…smiled…then flew away.

All the questions I had to ask her…well, I guess they’ll have to keep…
I did, however, learn that dragonflies like to listen to a bedtime story
before they go to sleep.

Global Dystopia

Mogadishu ...
Black Hawk helicopter down
Caracas ...
Riots burning everything to the ground
New Orleans ...
Katrina tears has gotten many more drowned
Manila ...
Government death squads are roaming around

Global Dystopia
Earth frowns
Parents and children weeping,
sad mourning sounds
Everyday the sun comes up,
hope goes down

Bi’lin ...
Smouldering settlement protests sparks up
Baghdad ...
A covered face blew up the church bus
Philadelphia ...
Government bombing citizens they don’t trust
Hiroshima ...
Radiation wine still overflowing from the cup

Global Dystopia
Ain’t we had enough
Can’t take no more mushroom clouds
raining on Earth’s thin crust
Everyday the sun goes down,
dark hopelessness rises up

Tshikapa ...
Crystal clear diamonds covered in jungle blood
Sarajevo ...
War crime bodies dumped in mass graves covered by mud
Tel Aviv ...
Sleeping residents killed by a black market American SCUD
Chicago ...
Lead poisoned urban poor houses built by HUD

Global Dystopia
Earth cries
Parents and children missing,
news covered up by politician lies
The day the sun doesn’t standstill,
all hope then dies

Premium Member The Nurse of Zionism

The Nurse of Zionism (part 1)

She visited the stolen land
loved putting her feet in the sand
the sand was not pleased
the crushed bones of Palestinian dreams
olive trees burned so Europeans could party

Over three hundred bullets in a six year old
"Its complicated"
Thousand of children slaughtered
"Its complicated"
Doctors raped in IDF prisons
"Its complicated"
Children used as human shields
"Its complicated"
Hospitals bombed on purpose
"Its complicated"
Medical equipment smashed by soldiers
"Its complicated"
IDF dress up in Palestinians women's cloths
"Its complicated"

One will never heal
with a heart so cold for others
selfish, self centered, self absorbed
to the core
Nazis had nurses too
I should not be shocked

The Angel of Tel Aviv (Part 2)

I ask why the ones
with hearts of gold
carry such a heavy burden
of pain, loss and sadness

The world such a miserable place
nurses should carry compassions grace
mostly true
for in the afternoon sun,
the Hanoun in bloom
in Tel Aviv an angel of mercy
restored my faith in humanity

A Short Unrevised Poem

Raining today
   in the big apple
Yes, this metropolis is still here
Despite the
    fact
that
we
have
   been attacked
Yes, the masses of people
still long to visit
this "Baghdad on the Hudson"
as O.Henry named it
It is not Paris, Tel Aviv or London
But it is the place
   I call home
Personally I think this city
will survive ,flourish and grow

Desperate

I would cry a river to be away from despear,
I would drink an ocean to have the aches i feel disappear.
I would reel in the moon to have the shackles removed from my feet,
And their is no mountain i wouldn't climb to stop his grinding of my teeth.
I'd walk around the world to hear the noises stop,
I'm prepared to eat the eyes of an eagle to prevent my heart attack.
Or rob a bank , or touch the sun, or cut a star in two,
I'd rather burn in fire than stay this way with you.
I would tour the ocean floors, tear my heart out of my chest,
Take a bullet to my head, Or drill a whole through my left breast.
If it would take away the turmoil, and wash the mud from my brain
And cleanse my heart of impurities, like a treasure washed clean by rain.
Or if it would shine the sun, that would in turn warm my heart,
And melt away this icebox, that turned me cold and torn apart.
I'm desperate to erase the memories, of hurt and loveless times,
Of empty dreams and promises, of things that were never mine.
Just tel me what to, no matter how impossible it may seem,
I just want this feeling to be over, I want the reality of my lifelong dream.

I Have Lived Your Lie

Just one more day with you
one more smile from you.
said you where here to stay,
forever you use to say
then why are you not here today?
could i find the strength to walk away,
if your lie is in my way.
now all i have today,
is our song
the song you use to play,
seating here all alone,
i listen to the words it say,
" you would leave me alone and torn my heart to stone"

was he worth the tear in my eye,
did you not love me enough to try,
why then did u tel me a lie,
cause you said you'd always be there,
but yet you tore out my heart and
left my flash to die,.
better to be loved then to love,
for the pain of a broken heart is one i would not share,
I have lived your lie.

Premium Member Vacation In Israel

If a bomb goes off on a train or bus,
I guarantee the aftermath will not be too fabulous.
If I found myself in Haifa, Jerusalem, or Tel Aviv,
the first thing I would want to do is leave.
I can name so many other places for a vacation.
In the Middle East, staunch hostility surrounds this nation.
They are not shooting at each other in Tahiti.
How many terrorists are roaming in Hawaii?

La Isla Sets Me Free

Amor, you allude like a cloud
To something great
Your name, a promise of Jerusalem
Your exclusive mouth, like water
on my dry lips and deeply vacant chest…

I’ve never touched a cloud
Nor known the inevitable fog
Of falling into you
But now that I know…

You’re not even Tel Aviv to me
Nor San Juan, nor Bayamon
You’re a makeshift castle
A colonizer
Pressing your smooth arms
Tight around my shrugging native heart

At the chance
I offered my hair, my amber perfume
I made my eyes a place to bathe
Your obviously filthy feet
Offhandedly, you spoke of the sea
But all I see- is violence in your city
You spoke of passion as though
It’s synonymous with love
But I see fatherless children
You’re not that man who saves
But the tide which takes me away…

A convincing title
A bait and switch
A hook for virgin lips
And now I’m a bud among weeds
That are due to be cut down

You are among me
Take your shot now
Since I know you shoot me down
Leave me alone, cabron-
You always leave me wanting
And I’m not fighting anymore
I’m dancing on the shore, Puerto Rico
This is my story, here
And la isla sets me free
