Never Fazed By a Language Barrier

A friend once told me
How he was fascinated by me-
By how I could walk up to absolutely
Anyone and be their best friend,
Switch cultures like t-shirts
Emblazoned with "I heart
Fill-in-the-blank..."
I'm not sure quite how to explain
How once you've observed society
For long enough you realize
That just about everyone you
Will ever meet acts just like
Your own teenage brother,
Like your mother, your father,
Like your little sister-
Like the best friend you've
Known for your whole life...
Everyone has heard the phrase,
"We're all God's children,"
But it seems like everyone
Is suddenly blind to their
Family resemblence
When one of them says,
"Que tal, manito?" instead of
"What's up, bro?"
Don't tell me that it's
Not possible for you
To communicate with
Someone whose birth certificate
Lists a country of origin
That's different from your own-
Don't say you can't pick up
New language when "YOLO"
Was not an expression that
Existed on the face of the Earth
Until a couple of years ago...
Besides, we both know how you
Always found a way to
Gossip in class, by shooting hand
Gestures and loaded glances
Halfway across the classroom-
Halfway across a globe never
Seemed all that different to me,
So maybe that's the reason
I was never fazed
By a language barrier.

Annemonenblüten/Flowers of the Anemone/Las Flores De La Anémona

Am Fuße der Berge
Versteckt sich ein enges Tal
Im Schatten der Gipfel

Annemonenblüten im frischen Gras
Erste zarte Boten des Frühlings

-----------------------------------------------------

At the foot of the mountains
Hides a narrow valley
In the shadow of the summits

Flowers of anemones on fresh tender grass
The first messengers of spring

----------------------------------------------------

A los pies de las montañas
Se esconde un estrecho valle
En la sombra de los picos

Flores de anémonas en la fresca hierba
Primeros  mensajeros de la primavera

Cordero Aéreo

Hordas aéreas
De corderos sin pena
Girando sin tregua
Hasta que entre mareos
Se dan cuenta
De su existencia

Usted les observa
Suavidad en trozos
Graniza con gracia
En diferentes tonos
Repentinos aromas
Le recuerdan la costa
Y aquella balada
Que diluvia, pura y casta
Sus sentidos trabajando
Le hacen ver la existencia
De los corderos y sus pasos

Quizá les de forma
Al irse de pesca
E imaginar la escena
Dándose cuenta
De que ahí están
Aunque sea entre peces
Y nada más…

Tal vez les encuentre
Redactados con prisa
¡Vaya injusticia!
En una celda reducida
A unas cuantas líneas
Mas existen sus vidas
Aunque sólo sea
Entre conversaciones y tinta

Y los corderos siguen
En su curioso ritual
Tranquilos, pues saben

He visto de muerte a triunfos

Premium Member Thank You For Being My Friend

There for me in my hour of need
      surprising me with a small gift

How blessed am I …
     your friendship is one I cherish

Always having time to listen
      when we share a pot of tea

Now I bring shopping for you
      to show my appreciation

Kindness and thoughtfulness
       are so evident when we talk

So finally I can pay tribute
      to my wonderful friend Chris

A tribute to my wonderful friend Chris Faragher who has been a tower of strength for me especially when my husband had his cancer surgery and I had no support from my parents and sister. Her friendship and support mean the world to me

Premium Member What Gobsmacks, Bamboozles and Confuses Me - Men

What gobsmacks, bamboozles and confuses me
My answer to that question is no great mystery
It’s men’s complete lack of understanding of women
So let me explain it quite succinctly to them

Guys you should be kind your good lady
Treat her like an adult, and not a darn baby
Women’s minds can be read just like a good book
and if you don’t listen to her, just avoid her left hook!

But PLEASE beware if her monthlies are due,
she may rant and rave and say she hates you.
And if she needs chocolate, she really NEEDS it, okay -
Get to the candy store without a moments delay!

Many issues of women you’ll discover men are the cause
There’s MENtal and MENace and the darn MENopause

Translation of " Bésame Mucho " from the lyrics by Consuelo Velasquez

Refrain :

Kiss me longingly long
Kiss me, kiss me longingly long
As though this night has to be
The very last

Kiss me longingly long
Kiss me, kiss me longingly long
For seized am I with the fear of losing you
Losing you hereafter

(Refrain repeated twice)

I long to hold you close to me
While gazing deep into your eyes
Making us look as but one together
The thought nags perchance tomorrow
I'll have already gone far away
Far far from you

(Refrain repeated thrice)

For seized am I with the fear of losing you
Losing you hereafter

The original lyrics in Spanish :

Bésame mucho
Bésame, bésame mucho
Como si fuera esta noche
La ultima vez

Bésame mucho
Que tengo miedo a pederte
Pederte despues

(Refrain twice)

Quiero tenerte muy cerca
Mirarme en tus ojos
Verte junto a mi
Pienso que tal vez manana
Yo ya estare lejos
Muy lejos de ti

(Refrain thrice)

Que tengo miedo a pederte
Pederte despues

Sociedad Quebrantada

Esta sociedad ciega esta en crisis,

Es la causante de la corrució caótica,

Solo viven de la intención inseguros,

Sin saber qué es la determinación,

Dejándose llevar por una doctrina quebrantada...

La sociedad solo vive por vivir,

No dejando legados,

Sino dejando marcas.

Pero dejan a tontos e imbéciles libres al mundo;

A éstos les encanta vidajenear,

Por solo romper privacidad...

Solo pocos aprecian la amistad y el amor;

Otros se limitan a sí mismos y se ciegan;

Luego, se transmutan a incrédulos ambiciosos,

Sin propia convicción...

Por eso, muchos ambiciosos y mentirosos,

Recurren a la religión, en últimos instantes;

Pero, en últimos instantes es que éstos,

Mueren en propia cobardía e hipócrita sanidad...

No existe tal cosa como perfección,

Solo existe la compleja simpleza o la simple complejidad;

Por eso, no todos los que aventuran se pierden;

No todos los que exigen, aplican lo exigido;

No todos los que miran, observan;

No todos los que oyen, escuchan;

No todo el que hiere, merece;

No todas las heridas, sanan;

No todos los que inhalan, respiran;

No toda sonrisa es feliz;

No toda boca, habla;

No toda sangre y lágrima es en vano;

No toda mente y corazón son puros e inocentes;

No todos los que actuan, piensan;

No todos los que piensan, analizan;

No todo el que analiza, siente;

No toda alma es neutral y digna;

No todo el que existe, vive;

Tan solo necesitamos estar vivos.

Macchu Picchu (German/English/Spanish)

Du Einsame,
in den Bergen getrotzt,
versteckt in den Wolken
getragen vom Geist des Inka,
hochgepriesen,
wie von Geisterhand
überragst du das
zerklüftete Tal des Urubamba.
Stein auf Stein,
gebaut mit großem Geschick,
geboren durch die Kraft
der Inkas.
Zufluchtstätte
der letzten Überlebenden,
verborgen vor den Augen
der Eindringlinge
aus dem so entfernten Spanien,
die Feuer und Tod brachten,
dich aber nie sahen.
Umhüllst dich noch heute
mit nebelgesponnenen Rätseln
wie neugeboren
aus tristem Gestein.
Deine Seele,
lebendig,
strahlt Erhabenes
und über deinen Mauern,
jetzt nur noch Heimstatt
der Götter,
zieht wie einst
der Kondor
seine vibrierenden Kreise.

---------------------------------------

You lonesome,
withstanding
in mountains,
hidden in clouds,
carried by the spirit of Incas,
highly praised,
as from ghostly hands
are you extending beyond
the rugged valley of the Urubamba.
Stone by stone,
built with spectacular craftmansship,
born by the power
of man.
Retreat
of the last survivors,
hidden from the eyes
of the intruders
from far away Spain,
who carried fire and death,
but never saw you.
You cover even today
in foggy-spun mystery
like newly born
from solitude stone.
Your spirit,
living,
radiates nobility
and above your murals
now only home of the Gods,
a condor is drawing as once
his vibrating circles.

------------------------------------------

Sitio  solitario,
resistiendo en  las montañas
escondido en las nubes
protegido por el espíritu del Inca,
egregio elogiado
como de una mano de fantasma
tu te levantas
sobre el valle hendido del Urubamba.
Piedra por piedra,
construido con gran destreza,
nacido por la fuerza
de los Incas.
Refugio
de últimos sobrevivientes,
escondido antes de los ojos
de invasores
del tan distante España,
que traeron fuego y muerte,
pero nunca te veían.
Te envuelves todavía
con enigmas hiladas por nieblas
como recién nacido
de rocas tristes.
Tu alma viva
brilla altura
y sobre tus murallas,
 todavía sitio
de dioses,
gira como antiguamente
el condor
sus circulos vibrantes.

The Tal-Dareem are fighting-mad;
They've realized they've just been had.
Expect soon Zealots and Stalkers,
Immortals and those "cliff walkers".
Zerg Hydralisks are assembling just out of range,
Supported by Roaches, Infestors, Banelings,…
The Mutalisks are hovering beyond our turrets,
Brutalisks are moving—it’s looking quite desperate.
What matter's most: who'll be standing last,
So let's hit 'em hard and hit 'em fast.

There’s a silver lining for each “end of the world”:
My shift’s almost done and my Siege Tank’s been rebuilt.
I could spend my last hours paralyzed in fright;
But no, I got a date with that cute medic tonight.
Protoss Carriers and Voids will fill the sky,
And Dark Templars may be sneakin' by.
Double the turrets, add more bunkers--
Fill them with Marines and Marauders.
What matters most: who's standing last,
So hit 'em hard and hit 'em fast!

I took several stim-packs off a dead Marine,
And I’ll take a few jolts if she gives me the green.
So all those bug-eyed-monsters better stay out of sight…
Better not mess with me and my Medic tonight.
So we’re all out of minerals, almost out of Vespene.
We’re training our last Marauders, building our last Viking.
But if our Ghosts and Banshees hit the Zerg and Protoss just right,
I might still be around for my Medic tonight.

Got a date with that blue-eyed young medic tonight.
You know, the one that I’ve had for months in my sights.
If my Siege Tank’s a rockin’, don’t come a knockin’.
Got a date with that pretty sweet medic tonight.
Jim Raynor's Raiders will soon be back;
Load your ammo, get ready to counter-attack!
So train more Reapers for rear missions:
Sneak around back, take out their pylons.
Make sure we're the ones left standing last.
Just keep hitting 'em hard and hitting 'em fast.

Euphoria

I'm here bordering almost oneiric
in a state of somnolence in an invisible fire
wearing the personification of a hellish realm
obsessive and compulsive in the unknown...

I turn the hourglass counting grains of sand
to validate my existence pondering am I a victim
alone and depressed tonight...

Are you as lonely as I am, perhaps?
do you wear the narcissistic smile
in the shape of the crescent moon?

Que tal, La Luna
I whisper to the night in disintegration
"Your sleepy lullaby has failed me tonight"
just as the opiates that fall from your eyes
in steams of gleaming silver dreams...

Euphoria fades with shallow thoughts
in glass silhouettes of burning embers
making a pile of ashes so unique
no insane arsonist could have imagined...

Comes the dawn to end this paralysis
leaving me wondering am I just a marionette
that even opiates or Xanax cannot cure...

On the corner of my night table
empty bottles mock me...

Ojala El Universo Se Apiade De Mi

Ojalá el universo se apiade de mí
Y me convierta en otra estrella;

Borges dirá: "En el cristal del otro buscamos nuestro cristal recíproco;
El cristal viviente que guarda
Esas maravillas inexploradas e inalterables astros".
