Best Take Flight Poems
Although some things might make me want to fight,
at times I have the instinct to take flight.
I noticed this at first when I was ten.
It happened that I had a boyfriend then.
He’d see me at the church and we would talk.
A few times home from school or church we’d walk.
I had a birthday coming up, and he
showed up so he could celebrate with me.
My family sang happy birthday, and
what happened next involved my little friend.
One crazy custom says that you can spank
the birthday girl; I’d rather walk a plank. . .
than let some boy get close to my behind
and spank me , not just once, but ten more times!
That little punk would not be spanking ME,
so when he went for it, I had to FLEE!
I ran upstairs with him in full pursuit.
He had the nerve to follow, dumb galoot!
I locked my door because no matter what -
I would not let that fellow spank my butt!
More stories I could give to illustrate
how fast I bolt when faced with things I hate.
The moral is - from me just keep away
if you lean more towards Fifty Shades of Grey!

Throw yourself out there and yes, just write,
whatever it is your thoughts could be.
From heart to pen, let your words take flight
so that others your true thoughts will see.
The world is your invitation,
it has been and will yet always be.
To write in this, your life’s duration;
those words inside just long to come free.
It matters not, wherever you are
and you find that you reach for your pen,
for the more that you give in to this,
it will happen again and again.
Many will want to read what you write,
you do well to remember that fact.
It’s fulfilling to see your words take flight
as on the spur of the moment you act.

Love is not about going in circles
Or riding a pendulum back and forth
Playing games with the heart to win
Hidden truths kept at a distance within
Love blossoms with the opening
Of the flower of an inner soul
Sharing minds to talk through things
Honestly, respectfully without insults
Love is not about dragging
Someone’s heart through the mud
On a lonely barren road
Only to leave one feeling less and alone
All the while together
Love is sacrifice, sharing, trying
Being all you can possibly be
While empowering another
To be all he or she can be
Day to day, night to night
A commitment that takes two

Small bird take flight.
Open your wings, leave shelter behind.
Fear will ground you, riddle you weak.
Feel the winds, the rushing power in the breeze.
Allow the current to embrace you, ruffle your feathers as you chase the sun.
Free yourself from doubt.
Freedom is fluid.
Should I fall, how dreadful.
Should I be incapable of flight, my soul would rupture.
But should I soar, to touch the milky skyline, Oh how inspiring.
Even the smallest bird may take flight

Seagulls Take Flight
Rose strolled alone on a warm sandy beach
as salty sea foamy waves crept to reach
net her toes as the wind rose
She Jump from getting wet toes
instead fell back on her butt with a screech
Beach bumming seagulls came flying around
while Rose sat embarrassed on the wet ground
Plop! Whitewash flopped on her head
then up to the air they fled
flapping, squawking, with snapping hungry sounds

Speckled bird in the grass, nothing to lack
I’m looking at him and he’s looking back
The exchange is sweet simplicity
There is no fear, no duplicity
Oh to be under those wings & go with him I suppose
Take flight and lift me from my solitary repose
With a wink of the eye, soar into azure treasure
And with a sigh, journey into heaven’s pleasure
If the bird’s wings I could only reach
Life’s mysteries he would seemingly teach
For now I must remain earthbound
My feet chained by promises profound
The tiny bird slips away
Leaving my thoughts astray
Forever and a day and never may
I wait patiently for my restless heart to say

through the clouds across the sea
I know God will carry me
im looking forward to august to take my biggest ever step of faith
but I know God is by my side
so Ireland here we come through them clouds we going to glide. Amen

And now my dreams
Have fallen
From the stratosphere
Of your mind
Only to take flight
On the wings
Of the unforeseen
These dreams are unreal
This life is surreal
What is it like to feel
After the numbness sets in

When I was young and excited to see the world
I loved to climb trees all different sizes
I would look out far away and wish I could fly
I would imagine that I had long wide wings
I would spread my arms out steady as I could
On top of a tree that was wide enough for my footing
Steady as the wind blows, pushing me up to stand
As my arms reaches to a T, I could feel the wind
Wind passing through my arms and I felt free
I would wonder what the birds would feel
Once they were pulled up into the sky by the wind
Pushing upward to make them feel light as light
Make them soar through the air without fear
An excitement that never ends and could see far
Far from the eyes and beyond the horizon
What could the birds feel, when soaring through the air?
Finding freedom without endless reaches
Never having to stay in one spot of earth, not earth bound
Seeking the thrill of the moment and not knowing it
Diving and embracing nature as is in the air
Not wavering in any storm, sometimes just to ride it out
Feeling short of breath when the last wind blows
Fluttering as hard to land on a safe place not so chaotic
The wind seems more peaceful and full of life
Rather than the awkward world beneath the wings
Imagine the world with wings and less chaos
Free as the wind blows through the grass and meadows
What is and shall be the life of being a bird
Through and through, humans feel flight is freedom
It takes you anywhere, shorter than driving at times
If we all had wings, we would be reaching the light
What kind of bird or Angel would I become if I had wings

Blank verse
What's earth like?
Because I left in my past life
What's the past like?
Trash life
Like, black night
There was more to you,
We were more than two.
In moments
Your forest grew.
The ups and downs
It's true I wasn't bulletproof
Problems tend to rise
When we're we're defeated and we tried
Eating our person
Where?
Inside!
Your forest grew
What I mean is I appreciate you
And my current view
Is coming through.
What I mean is
Your heart was broken
Left open
And Life woke it.
Left the planet
During moments of panic
What's the message?
I'm making moves
but an awkward flight
It's like running with your shoes untied.
It's funny when you stay alive.
It's like you avoided bullets,
Or maybe he didn't pull it.
What I mean is like a tree
You became grounded beneath
Unlike me
The Forrest growing you didn't see or believe.
Tell me why it matters
Why every moment felt faster
And we paused when we saw
What we were reaching after.
We grew apart
It was the trend
Another one bites the devil
This cheating can't be leveled.
What I mean is here's the punchline
Around lunch time
We kissed by a garage
You could say your tongue was tied.

Dear budding poet,
Modern poetry is an evolutionary process. A poet never really stops growing and learning. Even the most seasoned of poets can discover and master new forms. I wish you a happy journey to poetic creativity. My advice is to read poetry voraciously and listen to poetry recitals.
Read poems by famous poets. Join a group such as www.Poetrysoup.com and study definitions of poetry forms. You'll soon familiarize yourself with many brilliant Poetrysoup poets, poetry terminology, rhyme schemes, meters, etc. You'll also see examples of all the poetry forms.
Poetry is a malleable art form. It can be formless, like water. Like wet clay, you can mold or shape a poem however you desire. The sky is the limit in terms of your subject matter. I strongly suggest going out in nature for a wealth of inspiration. Try writing a poem outdoors.
Poetic inspiration is likely to materialize as you're much more alert and aware of your surroundings. Enter Poetrysoup poetry contests, which will further fuel your inspiration to write more. Positive, encouraging feedback from supportive poets also keeps your creative juices flowing.
Always carry a pen and notebook with you and jot down the moments or things that captivate you. Ideas. Epiphanies. Funny moments. Happy moments. Sad moments. It's an abundance of riches in terms of themes to broach. You can pen a poem about anything. Use your power of observation and let your imagination take flight.
To use lines from my poem, "What Poetry Means To Me," "Poetry is my catharsis, passion, escape. The golden spoon which I use to stir souls. Poetry means sharing my gift of creativity to inspire, purge, reveal, to weave a tapestry of deeply felt emotions."
My favorite themes are nature, emotions, animals, and astronomy. My favorite reference sources are as follows: Poetrysoup, Merriam-Webster's Dictionary, Rhymezome, HowManySyllables, and WordHippo.

Focus and put yourself in a favorable position
