Best Sunlight Poems
Day -
dreams drift,
until they drown
in the morning dew
Certainly
circling moments -
those teasing tantalizing
thoughts, sweetly surround you
They
skillfully hide -
poetically from me
. . emotions of mystery magic
Only -
the dew
seems to understand,
those delicious, delicate desires
Longing
to dive -
in pure ecstasy,
the vibrations of you
Playfully . .

~ Longing to linger in Warmth ~
Sunday November 22nd, 2020- Poem of the Week
A yellow song about autumn
Leaves falling slowly
May nature embrace me gently
Birds mixing tunes
Of such ecstatic sound
Rising a sweet melody
Creeds and song carried with the wind
in the highest tempo
Kissing one heart priceless gold
Crossing bridges and mountain majesty of the world
Rustling softly breathless whispers treasure
Most quiet need, by autumn sun and candlelight
Like sweet thoughts in a dream
Dazzling of wonder as magical charms
floating flutters gently on a breeze
Delightful day it is for all who dwell
delicately blown upon warm sunlight rays
The sumptuous yearning of summer that left
Breathtaking feeling dance circles around
Viewing elements and seasons as they change
Deeply touches embracing beauty inside
Into the dawn's early and tender caresses
You stand in front of the sun
morning dewdrops upon your vision

Storm
ominous, dark
thundering, mellowing, drizzling
rainbow, colours, arc, promise
fizzling, fading, sizzling
radiant, brilliant

Sometimes I believe you
to be a vision, fading,
only a reflection of the
warmth I used to feel.
Today my memory of you
locked away within a
clenched mind, like grains
of sand perpetually
slipping through the cleft
of time. A memory scattered
along the highway of
despondent souls, soon
to be washed away by
the rising tide of oblivion!

A Ray Of Sunlight
We had a ray of sunlight
On a crisp and cloudy day
It looked like a sparkling diamond
In those clouds so deep and grey
It was a welcome pause
During days of winter showers
When one was scared to blink
In case they miss those daylight hours
A lovely day of sunshine
Was nice to see once again
It left behind the weariness
Of all that goddamned rain
It became a nice reminder
That spring is on its way
Oh, how it cheers my heart so much
To see blue sky, not grey
We had a ray of sunlight
But now that ray has gone
As evening sky is all afire
As a deep red sky comes on
This is natures parting light
That my glad eyes can see
That the beauty of some heaven
Is waiting there for me
Vera Duggan
In the pantomime of pretend prose,
the moon dances on lonely nights.
Before the lights go out at twilight,
unforgiven ice cold hearts,
remain abandoned, hoping this is the end.
Her eyes like Eve were deceived,
by manipulative sea green serpents.
Stranded on shores where time has no name,
the artistry of dread, breathed in poetic chills,
inhaling life, exhaling pain like dolent daisies.
Concealing metaphors of dying embers,
behind an avalanche of emotions,
she anticipated the rebirth of an artist,
by an art nearing the opposite side of yearnings,
because in the deepest chasm of poetic love,
an alliteration of antithesis attracts affection.
I was not as naive as Adam,
searching for heartbeats from heaven,
knowing that is how you ruin a poet.
An empathic spirit ignites pens full of fire,
burning the strings of poetic puppets -
the greatest gift of entrancement.
Rumi taught me the universe is infinite,
and so am I, so I knew I would meet my muse,
like stars greet the moon in a meadow of miracles.
As roaming romance conjured my dream's horizon.
Her name always echoed in the silence of quiet nights.
An empress without an emperor in a crumbling palace,
yearning to blossom in an epodic flower field.
Her seldom smile was as radiant as the golden orb.
Despite ghosts hiding in the shadow of sunlight,
mystical silver spirits were summoning me to her abode.
Her misspelt phrases accidentally fell on my page.
I found her burying her frozen quill under six feet of snow,
with a withered heart reliving a winter wonder nightmare,
constantly bleeding pearls in a silage of tears,
cursing her tormented tongue.
Her winter kisses were as tender as butterfly snowflakes,
but at first, her rage slashed at my wrists,
drowning me in her obsidian grieving seas,
but my soul is like a seasoned samurai full of scars.
I always believed small steps lead to great places,
and I would kiss her sorrows goodbye.
Upon realisation there's no blood in my veins, only poetry,
together we portrayed pastel coloured sunsets,
illuminating a celestial canopy of light,
sowing trees of forgiveness,
surrounded by colourful petals,
leaving behind the dark long road home.
In our internal garden of Eden,
there is no darkness,
there is no forbidden fruit nor sinning,
only an aura of love personified.
She waits...
at that spot he promised to reach...
When the dark blue and grey sky
Lightens up to pink and pearl grey
At the moment, just before dawn
Under the huge mango tree
Besides the splendid sunflower garden
She waits for him...
With hope...
The young bright golden sunflowers
In the garden
With beautiful brilliant yellow petals
And dark tiny florets in the middle
Their vibrant faces swinging
With slow dainty movements
Towards east
Waiting
Anticipating
The arrival of 'light'
The golden glorious 'sun'
For its dazzling rays of 'hope'
As the golden ball ascends
At the crack of dawn
The magical sky radiates
Hues of yellow, orange and red
And a silhouette of birds
Fly against the gorgeous sun
At the sight of the mighty sun
The sunflowers gracefully glow,
Swaying gently
To bask in it's glow and warmth
Under the tall mango tree
Hoping to see the 'light' of her life...
She still waits...

Dearest Sunlight, I Wait With Bated Breath
Dearest sunlight has thy glow ran away
Into a hideous canyon to hide
Please to dawn's glorious hour this I pray
Return, forgive me my arrogant pride
I watch night sky, its vast, glittering glows
Yet this lonely soul inward deeply cries
Beauty abounds as a heavenly show
Whilst on this sadden earth, love too oft dies.
Dearest sunlight, have mercy, please return
Life without you leaves but a bitter taste
And in these consuming fires heart so burns
While once so happy now all seems a waste.
Dearest sunlight, I wait with bated breath.
Life without you, tis but a fearsome death.

Sonnet
Note : Composed early this morn,
born from a dream.
As the dawn comes, it heart pleading for peace
flies morning dove, love borne with its release
but mankind blinded by world's scathing lies
walks a doomed path, such truth thus denies.
Neither shall ignorance, such dark defend,
When evil was clasped as busom friend.
When you have a beautiful beaming dream enter
the mouth smiles as together we drift away
As a moon face gets brighter accepting new beginnings
Flowers sway in your breathless air synchronized
by the spring music warmly breathing out sighs
Softly sunshine lifts our spirits free
Walking upon the yellow brick
road joining hands fingertips hold intertwining swans forever mate
Beauty on wings regal passion poesy on silk flowing sheets
Floating warmly dancing butterflies skip
under the tenderness softly embracing
Sharing sweet fluttering kisses from early morn unto late night
Heartbeats skip into one fire joining souls
in flowery band of white anemones binding us together one garland
Under a bridge bending heaven's sunshine colour baptised love

~~
At a particular time of each bright, cloudless day,
throughout bitter winter's cold weather;
close to three in the afternoon or very near to that,
my bedroom is transformed into a magical place.
Penetrating the quiet dim bright sunshine pours,
light streams in from many stained glass windows;
in hues and tones of color that dance on my walls,
sunbeams swirl and twirl touching everything.
I love to lie upon my bed as the light embraces me,
the colors wrap around this girl's very soul;
oh the joy of being caressed in stained glass light,
and I stay until the last ray has fallen away.

Third Place
Pale moonlight peeks gently for me right now,
yet it feels bright as day for me
as I think of you—
Cloudy velvety skies cover the glow of moon,
yet it’s still comforting like thick blankets on a cold eve
as I realize—
That is how warm your light is,
since you spread so much love
with your friendship, with your poetic gems
It is almost as if
you absorb Sol’s glow—
Your love for laying out in the sun paying off,
as you emanate that sunny energy
to people you come across with...
Your words have the strength of a warrior,
(A word warrior indeed!)
yet it also has the gentleness of a lady.
Your presence magnetic,
pulling heartstrings
like beams of sunshine
being brushed along a canvas
to paint a rainbow.
I think of you,
especially on this special day
as I celebrate a beautiful friend.
Yes, crickets are chirping
along with me right now...
Perhaps a song for you?
Darkness all around me,
with lights dim...
And yet
smiles twinkle in my eyes
I think of you,
...And raes of sunlight
will always, always
kiss my cheeks.
***Smiles, love and hugs to a beautiful and
wonderful friend.
Happy, happy birthday, Andrea sweetie!!!

A sunlight girl
with sunny smile
years ago
in my life,
shining bright
like Sunrays
trapping my
chlorophyll days!
In and out
day and night
of my heart's
secret room,
all those days
sunny Sundays
Christmas nights
no darkness!
Remembering her
sunlit face
in this wet
rainbow noon,
after a fresh
damsel rain
walking down
memory lane!
Sunlight girl
where are you?
I need now
smiling face,
give me back
bright Sunrays
bring back my
chlorophyll days!

Like Icarus I spread my wings
To rise on rainbows; my heart sings
The magic of this sunset grows
From amber, lilac, then to rose
As I approach the sun, I vow
To see the colors clearer now
With heavens kissed by gold and pink
The sun hangs low, begins to sink
The hues that caught my naïve eye
All start to pale, though fast I fly
While brighter colors fade from view
Below the Earth grows darker too
For who am I to catch the sun
Our race is done; the sun has won
*Written May 13, 2014
*In Greek Mythology, Icarus’s father made wings for him,
but he flew too close to the Sun.
My days filled with your inspiration
Anticipating our love vibration
That makes my heart start racing
Chasing our dreams with all this sensation
Of our feelings that have come unmasked
Trying to keep our lives on task
Moving forward not able to really grasp
How our love outlasted
What our hearts are telling us so fast
Knowing, whatever happens, will be a blast
from our feelings attached to the past
Believing they were safe to hide
Testing time farther then we can glide
while we deal with life's emotional ride
Asking the good Lord to carry us to the other side
Trying to deal with our passion we just let slide
With all these emotions stuck on high
Our memories very much Alive
Tucked away so deep inside
That has our thoughts all tied up in knots
Finding loves potion
That puts our hearts into full motion
Giving us both this up close notion
Created from our sincere devotion
Has outlasted many things that have come to pass
Holding onto the love that we won't surpass
Our secrets, we carry so real inside
Taking this locomotion on an amazing ride
That allows our friendship to fly
Up in the sky reflecting on high
When our spirits ignite taking flight
To secure all these moments that have been so right
Might have seemed so far out of sight
What we have been missing night after night
Knowing you are my sunlight
That keeps my world so bright
Making our wait so worth the fight
Keeping us both moving forward upright
With our love that we ignite
Every moment with you so full of light
That carries us into the limelight
Inviting our words we recite
On any given day that just takes us away
Where we can sway like it was yesterday
Making it impossible to just let it all lay
Knowing you are in my heart to stay
Keeping our love in play
I wouldn't have it any other way
rain soaked sunlight
dancing on a cobweb
crystal chandeliers
