Best Strung Along Poems
A spirit flies alone there's no love true without saying goodbye
soul searching deeply without sacrifice your gone
walking golden sands inside the heart all wars are won
Hand in hand slowly strolls on golden sands footprints left
as you're daylight played warm tricks our destiny ties us beyond
put under one spell lost in lonely you one beautiful memory
Drowning inside your Heaven drifting faraway tears
to hear the winds breathless whisper softly howls out your name
holding you dream magic as your voice enters feelings flow
An aura of beauty appeared within reality coloring a rainbow
or was it just a figment of imagination never existing
strung along believing in something real
Salted from the deep ocean waves crashing currents
rising emotions turning tides weeping is it wrong for me in the scrapyard
among'st twisted metal to want to hold you love one last time
(Terza Rima in unrhymed Tercet poetic format)
When I was just a little boy, my mother said to me
"Since birth I've filled your heart with love, to give away for free
So be a cheerful giver and it always will come back
Just spread it everywhere you go and love you'll never lack"
It made me kind to everyone, I always wore a smile
Never met a stranger and I'd go that extra mile
There always were so many friends, that liked to hang around
Until one day I met a girl, who stole it and left town
That first heartbreak, oh how I cried, felt all my love was gone
Found out my pride, now hurt inside, for being strung along
Angered by rejection, to this day still have the scar
Right when I thought my life would end, a whispered, "There you are"
I hung my head to hide my tears, my mom sat on the bed
She softly said, "It'll be alright", then gently raised my head
I saw her tears fall from her cheek, I asked, "What are you crying for?"
She said,"These are a mother's special tears so you won't hurt anymore.
I saved these tears, just for this day, I knew that it would come
How love can up and walk away and leave your poor heart numb
These special tears will mend your heart, they are called mother's glue
Then fill it up with love again, then you'll be good as new
You'll not forget just how it feels to take and not to give
These tears of love will last you now as long as you shall live"
She wrapped her arms around me and her tears fell down on me
Each time since then, my heart's been broke, her tears are what I see

I no longer love country music
Or Afton, Wyoming just to be the girl
In someone's non-existent dreams
Indulging in a glass of wine
Isn't a thinking session of
Second guesses to philoso-fry myself
Conflicted as a child, repressed from lies
Found under stacks of girly magazines and
Booze, hidden in the basement by
Role models as they lectured
About the importance of virtue and Scriptures
In control, on a journey of my own
Where I'll end up, no idea, but it must be
Better than being strung along to
To the wrong song, sung off key
I built a bonfire and burned the inclinations of
Fitting into skinny jeans, quitting bad habits
Well most of them, I've re-invented myself
Through the unkindness of cold winters that
No longer plague in phantomed shadows
I gave myself permission to wreak havoc, when necessary
And sneak outside to play in my best Sunday shoes
Not playin' by their rules
It's 'Wild About Pink' lipstick, clad in shiny kick a** boots
Attending a Mad Hatter's tea party, yes
Riding my whims as they change, just like the seasons
Decorations fill the halls
Row of rolls of shining reds
Strung along the long walls
Followed by green and gold
The Christmas tree is ready
All gifts wrapped underneath
The buffet table is is long filled
with all types of food
The eggnog is waiting
At the hallway door hanging
A mistletoe over head hangs
Ready waiting for couples
To be underneath to kiss
On Christmas Day
My own head screaming at me
every thought another fight
strangling my heart
he hid behind my tears
every possible negative thought
battling myself to do what is right
always felt like i never got it
tricking myself into situations, strung along
confusing my own confusions
mind manipulating my fears
my own hopes used against me
every day
all day long
lost my free will
god came to take over
no sense of self to cut anothers hand through me
this is the case of the crime of your century
now its gone
i keep looking at the clock
see how long it's been gone
i am sound mind
the visual images bleeding in my head
foreshadowing of next paranoias
deadlocked mind
This new silence in my head is intoxicating
the freedom to feel ok without inner harassments
one happy tear
compared to the sobbing of hours on end
for my mind wouldn't let me be
just be good, you did a great thing today
you gave your life to the lord once again
creativity no longer a weapon
see my own self differently entirely
the awe and beauty of everything
overwhelming
being reintroduced to me
the one i will never forget again
a new game for my mind to play
a new way to be ok
another point today
intoxicating 13th hour
the wave of fear when god was afraid
the muse of his own spiritual syndicate of songs and dance comforted him
to heal the hands inside his head
I love you, what a lie!
I could see the strain on your face
when you uttered those words
Love’s reflection is about joy,
you looked like a man who just lost his best friend,
that’s probably what you thought
when you said goodbye to your bachelorhood...
alas don’t worry, I’m not blind,
I sensed the tacit words, all over your face
I’m tired of being strung along
I’m not a puppet and you’re not my master…
tell me you love me the one minute
the next you’re hanging on some other
woman’s lips as if you’re breathing patterns depend on it!!
It’s over, I’m done! Pack up and go on your tombstone,
the words liar and cheat will be embedded in bold!!
"to hold, as 'twere, the mirror up to nature"
byWilliam Shakespeare, 1601
Come spring, in the shaded forests near my home
Blooms the elegant and lovely dogwood tree
In a bit of sunshine it spreads its graceful arms
As if to offer each blossom for God to see...
White velvet petals tipped by the palest pink
Simplicity strung along each swaying branch
No need to boast about its reign of beauty
This spring picture it surely does enhance...
My mother loved the pretty dogwood trees
We'd often stop to enjoy their brief display
I think of her each time I see them flower
These beauties that would so enrich her day...

For THE TREE contest, hosted by Constance~ a rambling poet~
I'm nowhere near what I used to be
But somehow, I feel set free.
I'm no longer a lifeless puppet
Strung along like little miss muppet.
You stole a peice of me I'll never get back,
Another notch on your belt,
a real class act.
I try to forgive, so I can find peace.
It seems impossible, I'm still angry.
You're in control
even out of my life,
I feel less than whole...
That's what you want, right?
Just call me Pinocchio,
Whittled to your perfection.
Dreaming a new life,
in this world filled with hell,
Stuck in the present.

Solid mannequins stand in the shop of society wearing clothes that they think is right to wear because of the sheep. Being put, put in poses and having photos taken of there empty faces. They're everywhere surrounding me in places, faces I can't distinguish. People are mannequins until you paint on them. But I don't like painting on society mannequins, they're all the same living the same life as everyone else. Being strung along in the illusion of society. Trends, blends, unwanted friends for a meaningless social security to fit in is what they do thus making them mannequins that stand in the shop of society wearing clothes that they think is right to wear because of the sheep. Being put, put in poses and having photos taken of there empty faces.
It's a mid December morning,
and it's 85 degrees.
There are no cool breezes blowing,
just some high humidity.
Yes, I'd like to build a snowman,
but it's hot out as can be.
Down here in South Florida,
there will be no snow for me!
No, it doesn't feel like Christmas,
more like a celebration in July.
Yes, I'd like to build a snowman,
it's no use to even try.
I'll turn my AC down to freezing,
but I don't think that it'll help.
Yes, I want to build a snowman,
but it will only melt.
There is no change of seasons,
trees don't even drop their leaves.
The only thing that changes,
are the license plates you see.
It's too warm to feel like Christmas,
on this we can agree.
I want to build a snowman,
but there is no snow for me.
The lights are strung along the facia,
decorations placed upon the tree.
Local garbage trucks all advertise,
they'll remove your snow for free
Here in this land of sunshine,
Summer’s never out of reach.
While you’re bundled up in parkas,
I’m sipping margaritas on the beach.
Singing Christmas carols isn't quite the same.
There’s no snow to pull the sleigh through,
just a surfboard and some waves.
To my northern friends and family.
Won't you send some snow this way?
Yes, I want to build a snowman!
But for Christmas in South Florida,
it’s in the sand we'll play.

Drops of moisture from the sky
Cause a sad tear from your eye
Falling like heartache and pain
Leaving the biggest bad stain
In your life that will not quit
Tearing at you bit by bit
Cracking pieces off a heart
Young and stupid, you weren't smart
To let go when things went wrong
Innocently strung along
Pulled in two different directions
Both your heart and mind detecting
Opposite views never knowing
Which way that you should be going
As you struggle with the choice
And competing on which voice
Is giving the best advice
Trying not to be enticed
Your mind is saying he's no good
Getting out, you really should
Before you are in too deep
Hurt by another sleazy creep
But your heart is not convinced
Love is knocking you off balance
Weakness fills you every time
He is looking in your eyes
This debate can never end
Until the choice to defend
Your mind over hearts opinion
Which was very slowly killin'
Your emotions being stable
Now you are stronger and able
To move on smarter and wise
Loosening the gripping ties
That were binding you so tight
Until you finally saw the light
Condemned by God to slither thus
for tempting Eve to bite
the snake at first stood tall and proud
and always was upright.
Alas since then he has to hide
prepared to make his strike,
tempting again the fairer sex
who led him to this plight.
So legless, withered, long or short
condemned by female pride
the snake is ready to grow tall
and find a place to hide.
For when his moment cums at last
he's proud and tall and strong,
then spits with pleasure at the ones
temptation strung along.
And thus it satisfies the need
inbred in all it’s kind
by bringing forth the fruits of love
......to feed all womankind!
Ivor G Davies
Whispers through the tea leafs
burning strong
mellow moments hanging
out on the tip of temptation
strung along
found with the inhibitions
down yonder
where the long grass grows
where we missed
opportunities and sensitivities
to be kissed
moist mist mingles
electricity tingles
human touch not enough
where eyes speak
and sparkle
a living treat extended
to repeat
The breeze musses up memories
changing with the lemon scents
swept away, the way northern lights
dance naked in my sky
The way I did with you
remembering patient sands
swept across barren wounds
slowly falling
pictures
protecting and interjecting
a part of you
connecting
a part of me
After: "Letter of Mithridates to Phraates, King of Parthia"
Historiae VI by Sallust
*****************************
I am a man more poisoned against than poisoning.
That’s my version anyhow, and I’m sticking to it.
Don’t blame me for having survived a few meals
Which others, less fortunate, could not.
All that doesn’t help me now with Pompey at my throat.
Pompey, plunderer and bully, who has enough wit
Only to command a Materialschlacht,
But that is child’s play with Rome’s support.
Rome! Scourge of cities, tribes, peoples, nations, all mankind,
Were not the Pillars of Hercules, the western shores
Sufficient for your ravenous appetite
That your eagle eyes scan my realm?
O Phraates, King of Parthia still unvanquished,
Had you but lent your ear to me when together we
Might have rid the East of this ill-begotten son
Of Mars. Small the credit, so great the loss!
For Rome, unchallenged, bestrides the Great Sea. Eastwards
He surveys my mountains and your rivers, groves and plains,
No doubt beyond. Remember Alexander,
Who sacked glorious Persepolis.
You vainly sue for peace, like credulous Philipp once
When fondly strung along with Rome’s promises of “pax”.
And what of Carthage? Where now her wealth of gold
And purple? Barren her poisoned lands!
Mind you, I’m not well-placed on a high moral pedestal
When it comes to poisoning, but limits I respect.
A few enemies now and then, I admit,
Died at my table. The ham was off!
But the earth is sacrosanct. I never salted fields,
For Rome’s venom is stronger than aught I ever brewed.
Where shall this end? Shall Rome vanquish all nations?
Shall all cower to his bloody sword?
But Rome! With surfeiting the eaten, not the eater,
Prevails. The whole world is, even for iron digestions,
Strong meat. It is the sun, not Romulus, whom
East and West obey. Helios rules.
With Rome to east and Rome to west, then two Romes are there,
And I do fear for man and earth. The approach of death
Lends men insight. I fought, I won, I lost in war.
My spirit is still king. Sirs, your health.
The last round! Like Carthage we lose to Rome the third round.
Once more is the Gordian knot in twain. Quirites,
The gods look down. Remember Alexander,
Who died of fever in Babylon!
The ways of the world today are out of control
so much going on that doesn't set well with my soul
people in positions of power making decisions that's wrong
and in the midst of what's happening we're all being strung along
People getting crazier as the days go by
as I sit and think it over it brings about a sigh
what is this world of ours coming to be
not looking very good as far as my eye can see
Every other news report is ending with a crime
it sure would be nice to hear good news from time to time
so used to hearing about tragedy that it comes as no surprise
or at least that's how it appears when our faces wear a disguise
The ways of the world today are out of control
as we sit back and watch the story unfold
Lets hope that in the future it will all end up well
because what's ahead for us only time will tell.
