Disney

I'm nowhere near what I used to be But somehow, I feel set free. I'm no longer a lifeless puppet Strung along like little miss muppet. You stole a peice of me I'll never get back, Another notch on your belt, a real class act. I try to forgive, so I can find peace. It seems impossible, I'm still angry. You're in control even out of my life, I feel less than whole... That's what you want, right? Just call me Pinocchio, Whittled to your perfection. Dreaming a new life, in this world filled with hell, Stuck in the present. March 12, 2016

I can feel the angst in this poem. Disney is a pretty universal symbol for childlike happiness and wonder ... but now I feel as though it is stolen innocence. "Just call me Pinocchio" ... is it apparent when you lie? We all must acknowledge our weak points ... welcome to the Soup!

Thanks for reading, Timothy! This was inspired by "controlling relationships" I enjoyed the twist because like you also said its a symbol for childlike happiness, but sometimes in life things aren't always the fairy tale we grew up believing they would be!

I like the interweaving of nursery rhymes. These stories that promise happily ever afters in contrast with the sometimes brutal realities of our lives. I do however believe that we can find happy along our way.

There is always happy along the way my friend! This was developed as a fictional writing that was inspired by "controlling relationships"
