Stairway To Heaven

Now my tendrilled soul,
Has found its pergola-- Christ--
To wind its way up....
Form: Haiku

Slowly He Fades

She walks the paths less traveled
collecting wild flowers and fallen butterflies,
She knows that if she just keeps walking
she'll find herself where she once was,
Only she doesn't know which path to follow;

She sits in the seemingly endless field of sunflowers
singing silent songs of a distant tomorrow,
She believes that as the seasons change
she'll find herself closer to Him,
And she pretends not to notice the Sunflowers fade;

She dreams in the perfect forest solitude
gazing up at the Moon staring down,
She wonders, If she sends her wishes to the stars
will she find herself back in his arms?
But she remains there, alone, in the forest;

She runs through the pages in her mind
re-living those special moments they've shared,
She holds tight to the promise he made
she stirs it in with her lemonade,
But as the ice cubes melt
Slowly, He fades.

Premium Member Rock Me Slower

Again, you ain’t got the rockin’ time
To shake my waist jiggling a move
Between the thrill that leads to you
And a summer lost from faraway grooves.
Boy, again those hazed gigs roll and subdue
Our desire touching night’s rhyme.

When that leather skin comes along
My soul falters with a yearning ,raw
Raw in toasted coals of primal heat
Only to caress me quick, oh hours withdraw.
Again, ain't got time to rock me complete;
Roll slower, my boy, we can’t go wrong
These beating ticks, time cannot rent,
Come, roll slower in love’s mood , content.

Inspired by The Guess Who’s song, ‘ No Time’ (70s)

'No time left for you
Distant roads are calling me'

Warmth of Breeze

Imagine me as a book covered with dust,
A soul whose warmth for years remained untouched

Letters on every page were ill-defined, unclear
The essence was hidden in an ambiguous fear

Uninterested I was in the societal rigmarole,
Me and my outer self were at opposite poles

Quite hesitant I was to turn to the next page
As I knew it would amount only to stormy rage
Quite concerned I was for my future pages and me,
The so-called bright world appeared shadowy

And in this dusky weather, suddenly the air felt unusual
This didn’t happen in years, the matter truly seemed crucial

I bizarrely felt the warmth of cool welcoming zephyr
My pages drifted, smiled and glinted like a pearl

My dull existence got transfigured into a life full-of-beans
Personified I was into a woman of worth, a woman of means

And now after owning this bag full of happiness,
I started reading the letters carved on me,

This time they were decipherable and defined,
They managed to unite me, my heart and my mind.

I looked around, in quest of the soul who revived me
Who passed by me and set my tangled soul free

Seeing him was out of question, quite hazy he appeared to me,
I could only fantasize him as a cozy breeze over the sea

Now, this breeze could be felt only when you are around me
You… only you and nothing beyond
You… the only one to make my passion profound
You… in your absence too you could be felt around
You … the only one in whom I am found!

Premium Member Birds and Baseball

I thought to write of butterflies.
Also of birds, their lovely song.
but then I came to realize
poems about them are miles long.
            I'll write at last
            of seasons past.

I watched a bird, in air, snag flies
and began writing a new song
of catcher's mitt and time that lies.
I thought time lasts, but I was wrong.
           Sons will age, too
           Time thought I knew.

Reflections

For my days fall away
But I remember you
I want to touch the memories
I just don’t know what to say
As my days fall away

I vaguely remember the chicken pox
Colored popcorn
And my first grade made
Robotic cereal box
The hen and the fox

I remember wanting a fire truck one Christmas
The marble red paint
The glass window in which it stained
I remember my foster mom saying it’s this one or nothing
I remember being too stubborn to accept the smaller version

Its these memories I daunt
It’s these reflections that constantly haunt
These were the highlights of my life
These were the only happy moments I knew
Yet I left them, moments so few

I remember where the wild things are
I remember marshmallow peanuts
Trick or treating and roasted pumpkin seeds
I remember visitation days
The beach-less sand the way we as children once played

I remember the door that never closed
Mexican casserole and never getting enough
Being afraid to swim
Yet finding my way to the roof of the house
With no way of getting down

I remember my first field trip
The dinosaurs and wanting to be an astronaut
I remember my San Francisco 49ers jersey
Number eighty, jerry rice my favorite player
Now days I tend to only clash with the mayor

It seems that images follow a window of time
And after it’s exhausted
We summon them our memories

Gotta Let Their Soul Cry

Raped and Molestated in childhood,
   Abused and Misused in pre-adulthood,
Alone and confused they stood; feeling
       like tainted goods.

Let their soul cry, maybe then; they can
  regain their pride.

They gotta let their soul cry

Their darkest secret's they lock away
within, this is why their flesh constantly
feast off sin; and everything in life has a
beginning, but never render an ending.

Let their soul cry, Crying is the only way to
  gain their piece of mind.

One might ask," Why"? Then , I will reply,"
They need to see at least one day filled with
promise rather than pain and see the sun
        without having rain.

They gotta let their soul cry, before their sin
  cause their flesh to die.

The sands of time

Vs 1
The sands of time keep moving,
ever faster.
I notice as each day passes by

Bridge 1
Why doesn't time have mercy on me?
The sands of time are going to bury me
So, I live each day without a care,
bend my knees in earnest prayer

Vs 2
The sands of time keep raging,
ever silent.
The lines upon my face, cannot lie.

Bridge 2
At least together we can face the storm
Hold onto me and I will keep you warm
No matter how hard the sand will blow
My love for you will not grow old

Chorus
The sands of time...
oh, the sands of time...
We journey through the sands of time...
I am yours and you are mine.

Bridge 2
At least together we can face the storm
Hold onto me and I'll keep you warm
No matter how hard the sand will blow
My love for you will not grow old

The sands of time...

I am yours and you are mine..

Premium Member The First Time Ever

The first time ever I saw your face
a pioneering heart began to race,
the first time ever I saw your smile
long journey but worth every single mile,
the first time ever your magical touch
sparks the memory I remember so much,
the first time ever a glimpse of your eyes
those that shamed the blueness of godly skies,
the first time ever in warm embrace
the sweetness of your breath one could taste.

The first time ever to hold you in dance
we held on tight in true loves romance,
beneath the moonlight to “This song is Blue”
yes together we dance just me just you.

The first time ever we said goodbye
the trial the tribulations of the saddest eye,
transferred to one’s sentiment does lend
this to vow this love will never end!

All I'Ll Have Left

Lately I’ve been thinking about our love affair
And I’ve come to the conclusion we’re not getting anywhere
And, Darling, though I love you with all of my heart
I think the end is here and it’s time for us to part

Why is it so hard to say good-bye
Even though I know it has to be
It’s simply because I’m losing everything
And all that I’ll have left is me

When we first got together I was looking for a friend
But it turned into a love that I thought would never end
And now the time has come to go our separate ways
We danced to the piper’s music, but now it’s time to pay

Why is it so hard to say good-bye
Even though I know it has to be
It’s simply because I’ve given up my soul
And all that I’ll have left is me

I guess I always knew that it would have to be this way
But I was never looking forward to this day
Now as you turn to leave tears fall from my eyes
And all I want to do is crawl away and die

Why is it so hard to say good-bye
Even though I know it has to be
It’s simply because you’re taking all I am
And all that I’ll have left is me

Premium Member That was Then, This is Now

Turn up the radio and ...
It's the same ol' situation,
The same songs, same band
That raised my generation

That was then, this is now
Nothing's changed but my age,
And four numbers, somehow
On a calendar's page ...

It happened again today
In the store where I shopped,
In the restaurant, I heard it play
Proving the 80's never stopped

That was then, this is now
O, to revive a faded fad,
If we never forget how
Good times can still be had

Life, like a cassette tape
With two sides, was designed,
From Side A, Side B can't escape
If you just press rewind ...

Darkness

Hello Darkness, my old friend
My arms out stretched
I'm here again
Inside my dream I walked alone
Inside the night I roamed.
Reaching out to all who hear
Reaching out through silent tears
But no one hears and no one came
My dream repeats this silent song

A song my voice longs to share
A song of flight I sang, I dared
A song of light in colored sight
Reaching out to all those Here
Singing out through silent tears
But no one hears and no one came
My dream repeats this silent song

Through my eyes, my heart, my tears
I sing a song that Darkness fears.
But no one hears...
A song my voice longs to share
This song I sing, a vision dared

Hello Darkness my old friend
Your story told in this dream again
And in the piercing light I saw
Your eyes on me...
and your eyes are raw
Your time has passed
Your shadow dim
Here we stand, at the gates again.
Voices silent in a time called When
A bend this day...
Through spiraling winds.

And in this piercing light I saw
Your eyes on me
and your eyes are raw...

Hello Darkness my old friend
My arms out stretched,
I'm here again...

Your eyes,
My hand,
Your mind,
My pen
Our voices silent
In a time called When
My dream repeats this song again.

I could have held you and kept you from falling
I could have been by your side
We had it all, but it wasn't enough
I could have swallowed my pride

There was so much I could have done
There were so many signs
I never took the time to know you
I never read tween the lines

Now that it's over and we've gone our ways
Now that the knot is untied
I still get up in the middle of my dreams
Don't know how often I've cried

There was a time I put you before
All of my plans and my schemes
Then I gave it up selling my soul
Along with all of my dreams

Now I am here, living alone
I never dreamed we would part
You gave me some of my most cherished memories
I gave you a piece of my heart.

Get The Lead Out

You always think on everything bad,
feeling one mistake will cost all you have,
seeing all sides until it’s too late,
if not satisfied then you just wait,
while other men are playing the game,
half as good as you but winning all the same;
when you can seize it at any time,
overthinking things ain’t always wise.

Get the lead out, get the lead out,
get the lead out, get the lead out,
time’s running down, there’s no doubt,
get the lead out, get the lead out.
Get the lead out, get the lead out,
get the lead out, get the lead out,
time’s running down, go seize it now,
get the lead out, get the lead out.

You always think that it’s too much risk,
only a mad man would dare to do this,
you come up with plans for the right time,
only to see all of them pass you by,
Sometimes you must act fast, on the wing,
stop the damn scheming, just shut up and sing,
the world doesn’t wait for any man,
so take your best shot with what’s on hand.

Play it for the business,
play it for the fun,
play it for the people
until it’s done.
Sing it for the future,
sing it for the now,
sing it so the people
can hear it loud.
Rock it for the pleasure,
rock it for the fame,
rock it so the whole world
will know your name.
Do it for the glory,
do it for the thrill,
do it now ’cause so many
never will.
