To My Momma

Ok how do I do this
Where do I start
I can't remember much
But I love you with all my heart
To tell you the truth I'm really lost
I've relied on you for everything
You tried to give me the world
All I've given you is pain
Here's a shocker, I still need your help
Help me remember things
As I search for self
You and me, we've always been close
I love you so much
I'm trying to love God the most
I owe you much more than I could ever give
You've always loved me
No matter what I did
You're a great woman
Thank you for all you do
When I read Proverbs 31
It makes me think of you
I made you a promise
I won't stop until it's done
God bless you Momma
Love your Prodigal Son

The Aging Process

Many years ago, when we were all young,
We really thought life, would be so much fun.
While playing dress-up, trying on mom’s stuff,
Putting on make-up, we found to be tough.

Then came our schooling, and boy things would change,
“Those aren’t our parents”, when they acted strange.
Sometimes they were hip, but old-fashioned too,
That’s something I swore, I would never do.

Wishing you were older, adults had it made,
They would do nothing, yet still would be paid.
That is how little, we all had known,
We surely found out, once we were grown.

Loving the twenties, we’d go out with friends,
When we went shopping, we followed the trends.
Doing what we wanted, and staying out late,
It didn’t matter, what time we all ate.

Then came the thirties, and most of us wed,
Watch what you wish for, my parents had said.
We had to work hard, many bills to pay,
I guess they were right, what more can I say?

Raising your children, was hardest of all,
Needing some advice, your parent’s you’d call.
It seemed so easy, they needed no rest,
So now it’s your turn, you learned from the best.

The forties arrived, that was a shocker,
We’d spend lots of time, just at the doctor.
Back aches and headaches, so tired you’d be,
Trying not to cough, or else you would pee.

The fifties would come, and your grandkids too,
Where were your glasses? You hadn’t a clue.
You searched here and there, and under the bed,
“Hey grandma” they laughed, “They’re right on your head”.

Here come the sixties, now let’s have some fun,
You are retired; your work is all done.
To dinner with friends, you dressed and you wait,
They never show up, you have the wrong date.

Now the seventies, with friends playing games,
If only you could, remember their names.
You try hard to hide, those under-eye bags,
Gravity happens, and everything sags.

Enjoy every day, and have a good laugh,
All the steps you took, led down a new path.
Live life as it comes, each year a new page,
One thing is for sure, everyone will age.

My Favorite Things As a Middle Aged Chick

Night sweats and crazy
Hot flashes and lazy
Mood swings and a body (?)
That looks pretty shoddy

Eating and bleeding and wanting to scream
These are a few of my Favorite Things

When your doctor
Says a shocker
that your
Uterus is a lobster

I simply remember to pretend I'm filled with glee
and then
I forget that my uterus is in atrophy

Memories

Her hand extended to caress my face,
to wipe the tears away.
gentle with a sense of grace.
putting back the parts that fray.

Hand approaching,
instinctive defense kicks in,
involuntarily coaching,
mind offline, nerves began to spin.

My arm moves on its own,
wrist meets hand, bumping it aside.
a movement sealed within my bone
my eyes open wide.

The flashes are back,
seventh grade.
a girl clothed in black,
unsure why she was made.

A boy about her age,
with fist or word,
externalizing his feeling of rage
making her feel unheard.

his foot against my shin
The force splintering in pain.
he will do anything to win
he has become my bane.

Fist against the locker,
inches from my face.
I hide the fear, what a shocker.
leaving just a trace.

His words piercing my skin,
hate for myself permeates,
the boundaries of what I let in,
weakening my mental states.

For a year I forgave,
each hurtful move,
I dug my own grave
wanting to prove,
(that I was ok)

The flash has ended.
My hands tremble,
thoughts are blended
my mind begins to reassemble.

I guide her hand,
his rule has come to an end
those words will no longer land,
I chose to let those holes mend.

You will no longer have power over me.
You have lost that right
why cant you see,
my soul in now light.

This is my life,
and it is a gift,
I will not fill it with strife,
From my path I shall not drift.

I am stronger now,
I've made the choice to live,
And you'll never guess how.
I chose to forgive.

Diverse

Oh say can I see
By the big florescent lights
Once so proudly now has fell
Fell into reality?
Fell into right?
Fell into a time where there should have never been a fight!!

With ’In God We Trust ' printed on every dollar.
But God got kicked out so Columbine became the shocker.
But was it also ' In God We Trust ' when we failed to see nothing but color?

With the hoses put down,
and Dr King no longer around,
is ‘The Dream’ still being reached?
Is it a sign that the first homes we see
are no longer a possibility?

When the Towers came down,
we were 'United we Stand'
But when gas prices rose it was,
“You're on your own, man!”

‘A penny saved is a penny earned,’
is from the man that first helped us try to learn.
But when we stopped asking what our country can do for us,
is that the time when the table turned?

Now that Rosa will no longer be on the bus,
I wonder who will now take that seat for all of us.

With Miss America in the cast,
when will we ever see Miss Disability last?

What happened to the times of ‘I am not a crook’,
it took a back seat to the Man who wrote the Book.

And the rockets red glare,
with bombs still bursting in the air,
is it wrong to fight for the night
when our children’s children will still be there.

Re-Installing Integrity In America

Once the dream was to make America the shining light of the world
a caring and compassionate country with opportunities for all
but after questioning the veracity of the election in America by the sham pretender since then this nation has endured the corrupt, the ugly, the distrusted who have put a damp on long held dreams of millions.

A neophyte failed businessman/politician with a narcissistic bent
of a five year old, looking for a king's crown, his fatuous transmutation has proven to be the culprit blocking his own way but denial is months away but
this dream may be reality in the making.

We who understand the damage done know are the ones
who must remove the stench he has created and the pain he inflicted
while hell bent trying to annihilate our Democratic Republic and his intent on
changing justice in America to save himself.

American's Constitution and the Bill of Rights are the hope of the world
but this administration peddles lies for control but honesty chokes them,
integrity strangles their foundations and freedoms they profess to value.
Their insidious mindset will not prevail and definitely will be challenged.

We are being devoured by manipulative small minds; their indifference,
bigotry and the all-mighty, all-consuming, deceptive profits seems to be what we are becoming. I can't believe we have been overcome with greed
and what it represents, but are we really, at heart, really that?

Will Democracy, Truth, Justice continue to be our guide, our conscience?
Will American integrity survive the current onslaught of verbal inanities?
America was great before this charlatan came unto the scene
misleading his followers and instilling his divisive absurdities.

America was great long before this pretender stepped on these shores.
It will continue to be great even greater, but these last few years he has fed lies of con to his followers derailing that trajectory of greatness
yet there are those who will follow this false Messiah's words of hatred.

White supremacists, bigots, genocidal maniacs with the mistaken idea
that this country is for them to take have a shocker awaiting them,
America will never be ruled solely by punk-pink-orange colored wannabe's
hellbent on destroying indigenous peoples of our world and our country.

My Profound Thousandth Poem

My Profound Thousandth Poem

Dedicated to England and also
world renown poet Terry Cooper.

England is exciting place to be
Will enjoy it in every opportunity
People of pageantry are such a site
Forty in Round Table and were a knight.

There was Marlowe and Shakespeare
And Gainsborough to see far and near
Cathedrals, mighty castles with a moot
To see does require much time to devote.

In England is Rugby, Lacrosse and Soccer
Manchester being beaten is a real shocker
Weather will be cool and then end up warm
May need to be prepared for a mighty storm.

When you leave will want to return again
Which is exactly what we both intend
Was it mole in hole or pied piper in wall
Whatever it was old me just can't recall.

Premium Member Stalker Shocker

I have you in my sights, my handsome prey
each move you make, I know them all by heart
the time's not right, and so I let you play
but soon I'll bind you up, never to part

Though you don't know it yet, you're mine to keep
Mine to possess, mine to manipulate
obsession fueled, my craving runs so deep
Reality with dreams I'll consumate

You'll come to love the confines of my arms
enshrined within my walls is satin bliss
At last, you'll notice all my hidden charms
And taste the sweetness of forbidden kiss

For now, you texts and calls, I'll read and hear
each code and every password I will hack
I'll lie in shadows, waiting till you're near
and then you'll find yourself under attack

Give in and then give up all else but me
you have no need for others; hush your voice
I will remove the blindfold; look and see
Though captive now, you'll soon love me by choice

Soooooooooooo there's a Comments Contest well
HO HO HO ...AND IT AIN'T EVEN CHRISTMAS!

Whew! Well, I never had much of a chest to get it off of anyway
but I thought about soup mailing a friend to ask his/her thoughts!

And then I questioned myself, " Are you nuts?" that's how things
get started! So that didn't last long...hmmmm

Next best thing to do was "let it sit" you'll think of something! hmmmm

Couple of days went by and I kept eye balling that block button
My hand would sneak over there and sneak back.
Nope, if it happens again just ignore it. You can do this!

Yes I can do it, thanks to Tom Hanks. Remember his line in
"You've got mail"? "Just when you say exactly what you wanted
to say, remorse always follows". That is so true and should be
taught from birth,

but back to my unanswered soup mail....I thought of something
and it apparently worked for I haven't had another shocker since
then but you never know when my hand will creep towards that
block button, just to see if it really works, of course!

Have a nice day!

Sin’s Cure
Curtis Johnson

Been around since the beginning of time
It’s older than Methuselah and all mankind

It has concern for neither your life nor mine
It’s often aggravated with a little mix of wine

It’s irresponsible for leaving destruction behind
It might strip us of food, shelter, and every dime

To be dislodged cost a pretty toll
It’s deep down into the human soul

It’s stronger than a wild bull
It’s desires are never full

It can be a mocker,
and also a shocker

It may be as scarlet,
or red like crimson

It can become as wool,
or even whiter than snow

With a touch of The Carpenter’s blood,
love covers sin like an overflowing flood

Dressed Up Like Suicide

Daily mounting pressures
What hides behind the eyes
You've tried your best to catch her
This crazy thing called life

While imitating art
No one saw you draw the signs
Sadly here you are
Dressed up like suicide

If you had asked permission
Would they grant the fall
Have you ever heard them listen
To your cries before

Set with tunnel vision
To the world outside
Giving out you give in
Dressed up like suicide

What was once distance thunder
Now goes off in your head
The down pour pulls you under
Held by the hand of death

A cushion for your problems
Sign on the dotted line
Smoke em if you got em
Dressed up like suicide

Although there's an average of 120 suicides a day in America alone the death of Chris Cornell was a real shocker to me and once again puts this tragedy to the forefront.
I beg you, please seek help....
For yourself and your loved ones.

BLIZZARD

ouch
blizzard
a shocker
much depression
like buried alive
so the media seems
always over-dramatized
i can hardly bear to watch it
i would like to kill the producers
only trouble is this time they are right

It was a different era, a different time
No hills too big for us to climb
We fit into the roles we played
And spent our summers in the penny arcade
The smell of popcorn all buttered up
Soda in a waxed paper cup
Skeet ball cost a nickel a game
Summers will never be the same
We saved the tickets to earn a prize
There was love and laughter in our eyes
We’d pick out of the pond a plastic duck
Chinese handcuffs, just my luck
Pitching pennies at those colored dishes
Closing our eyes and making wishes
Just across the aisle from the candy bars
You could get eight by tens of movie stars
Put our face to the viewer, a nickel we’d pay
Turn the handle and a cartoon would play
Try three shots with a basketball
Pinball machines up against the wall
A Machine that tells you if your love is true
And a shocker to see if you’re a strong man too
I love to think back of the games we played
And of summer days in the Penny Arcade.
