Best Sheer Poems
The weatherman is trying hard to find
Another way to say rain is forecast.
He knows we hate him when he must remind
That we should be prepared for rain to last.
Two weeks ago we thought spring had arrived
And stored our bulky sweaters all away,
So eager were we to welcome in spring.
Enchantment was short lived.
I’ll find a happy way to spend my day,
Into my house the sunshine I shall bring.
This day is mine to do with as I please.
I’ll not fill these hours with idle fretting.
My cozy house envelops me with ease,
Time a gem within a simple setting,
To be used entirely for my pleasure.
Without guilt I raise up the thermostat
To the degree that meets my comfort zone.
And for extra measure
Treat myself to cup of hot chocolate,
Preparing for a pleasant day alone.
I mute the phone that no one shall intrude
Upon these precious moments, once unknown.
It has been many years since my young brood,
Took so much time, I had none of my own.
I pluck an unread book from off the shelf
And settle down to plan a magic hour
I revel in the novel feeling of
A relaxed, unrushed self.
Behind my ear I place a perfect flower
And pour a second cup of drink I love.

Ode
Sheer genius her nudity
It scared the neighbors
Frightened them into their houses
Allowing her to enjoy uninterrupted meditation
Sheer adoration, her garden
Faeries free to show themselves,
Knowing she was the exact right human
At the exact right time
Sheer creativity, her bold strokes,
Her mixed paints, and her wildness in adding
Glitters, and sawdust, and other oddities to her canvases
Sheer wisewoman, revered by her children,
Adored by her grandchildren,
Left alone unless she crooked her finger,
Indicating she wanted company
Sheer genius, her spiritual relationship with
The woodland creatures, and the dragonflies who revered her.
Sheer genius her self-love,
Which allowed her to show herself, on her own terms.

It is so peaceful today!
SHHHHHHH someone hisses.
You will ruin it.
But it really is a terrific day.
Three people give her a quick glare.
She laughs.
Not caring at all.
Optimism cannot be squelched.
She is in a wonderful mood.
Begins to sing Oh What a Wonderful Morning!
Loudly and proudly.
The naysayers are instantly in a bad mood.
Go home with glaring faces.
Silly co-workers.
She smiles at how well she can aggravate them
With sheer happiness.

Free verse
You're off and running once again
The day has hardly begun
The electronics store, the big box stores
Remember when shopping was fun?
You're out of breath thinking about it
Heart's pumping a mile a minute
You try to check out your harried brain
But you can't find anything in it!
So there you go, you're on your way
Your mind is all a-flutter
Careful now, watch where you're going
You almost stepped in the gutter!
Your eyes are glazed and tearing up
With a look that's totally blank
Sure hope your purchases are covered
With enough dough in the bank!
Your tiny brain is filled to the top
With a myriad of important thoughts
Then finally the shopping is over
And every present is bought!
All shopped out so now you plop
In your comfortable easy chair
The madness is finally behind you
As your snoring fills the air!

I yearn for ecstasy
A feeling profound
that makes my heart
Beat fast, too fast.
I look around the plain
so full of orange-colored leaves.
At the same time, above flying around
I hear the melodious twittering
Of warblers and colored chaffinches,
Whilst above clouds rush
Chasing each other.
Below a rainbow shimmer
amongst the hills.
Oh what splendour!
No wind will spoil my affectations
It feels as if heaven has descended
As children played around.
Oh how joyous is their laughter.
So why do you wonder
I feel in ecstasy?

I wore a smile on my face
my pulse began to really race
my knees trembled, my hands shook
I was petrified of that look
I tried to compose myself but the more I tried
The adrenaline that was pumping inside of me, I could not hide
His eyes bore down on me and I sensed his mood
I saw the gavel and I knew I was screwed.

Sheer fine batiste
Batiste de soie
Ghostly creature outcaste
Floats past upstairs window
Sad down turned lips frown
Gone arriviste

Sheer Fear
Pink horizons mollifies probing eyes as clouds dissipate above
To the heavens bow gratitude where migrant birds hang glide
Venerated cosmic gods who quieted his pain then gave it love
Yet dusk arrived now this restless heart have no place to hide
A raging sea within me foresee fragmented ancient reflections
Impervious to heavenly rays of interminable mystical sunrises
Averse in utilizing rationalizations amending illogical emotions
Sheer fear appear sinister when incongruity incessantly arises

I love beading, I love making gifts and jewelry to sell. I had a project in progress, beading a bracelet, but I ran out of thread a few thousand times and in the process of cutting another piece, mislaid my needle;
Alarmed, frantically searching,
I had every horrid scenario going through my mind.
What if I stepped on the thing and it went through my toe? My cat could step on it and it could get lodged in her leg bone; it was certainly thin enough; my god, what if she ate the thing! How would they get the needle out of her?
I’m breathing heavily now, flashlight in one hand and a magnet in the other, scraping it across the carpet. Even worse, I had a picture of myself falling on the thing; geez, it went straight into my eye; there goes that expensive implant!
Outright, panting, sweating, in complete panic now;
I can’t find it; what do I do? In the time it takes to get the vacuum; it could end up inside of my cat! Settling myself on the brink of a panicked pulmonary incident; I stand up from the floor and there, on the table...my eyes met that pesky needle; right where I’d left it when I pulled out that last bit of thread...well, now I’m too stressed to finish...no focus.

Stroll among the trees.

Stars, and sheer stockings
(with reinforced toes),
constellate verses
from words of plain prose.
Shoelessness, shyness---
so unlike the world---
make a sweet refuge
for passions unfurled.
In rapture's splendor,
I kneel down---enthralled
(outside, Ephebe's
gut wrenches, appalled).
My Muse turns pleasure
to ultimate bliss,
giving her sheer-sheathed
feet for my kiss.
(Outside, Ephebe
appoints himself judge;
but his conniptions
are based on a grudge.)
Here is my Muse in
pleased intimation,
bringing a surely
sheer inspiration.
Hers is the presence
in my poems (this means
she frolics throughout
the settings and scenes).
And that sweet presence
is joy to partake---
all the night long in---
the love that we make.
Mitylene banished,
Gomorrah destroyed;
peace, in her soft voice,
is fully deployed.
To real Salvation,
she led me---a soul
troubled and broken:
and Christ made me whole.
How can I thank Him
for that, then for her;
then for the blessings
that keep my hope sure?
In Christ, our love is
not bound to time's whim,
but ever secure---
committed to Him.
Therefore the sky's arc,
the moon and the sun
no longer clock us
as we become one;
as in Love's temple,
on me she bestows
stars, and sheer stockings
(with reinforced toes).

Top of the world, Ma —
See those little fingers down there?
Those tiny rivers runnin’ thru the valley —
You fall, you won’t be repaired
Gimme pickaxe, gimme rope-ladder
Gimme both McKinley and Everest
I think best at highest altitudes
I’m hottest at my grooviest
Sheer fall —
You’re goin down
You’re goin down all the way
(2x)
You know the Donner Party was up in these parts
And they ate each other up
Much like those handsome boys from Brazil
Who were tryin’ to win the World Cup
When you finally scale that mountain,
Of course there ain’t nobody to witness
And then your ego sends the avalanche down
And you’re a sacrifice to physical fitness
Sheer fall —
You’re goin down
You’re goin down all the way
(2x)
