Best Selfish Poems
O
the bane
of being so slavishly in love,
to face another bloodless sunrise alone.
Myself, I’m spun in silken strands enthralled
yet, still stung by the whip of your selfish whims.
Your fleeting presence flashes like iridescence in light,
an elusive rainbow whose colors escape my grasp.
I pine for possession of one I cannot possess,
my burning being’s bewitched.
This yoke of yearning pliantly possesses me;
ensnaring me in the exquisite twist
of the fervent temptations you weave -
as your amorous play strums the lusty lure
of a gossamer thread I wish to follow to your soul,
whilst my purring thirst is captured -- then ignored.
O
the woe
of being caught
in the frill of desire’s web,
aching for the thrill of arching pleasures,
craving to be melted by our molten fusion,
longing forever, wanting and waiting breathlessly
for your wanton appetite to ravish me
always and again.

My confession
I murdered them all
impostors
claims of poetic devices
when the evidence was only
rants piled upon rants
A circle of praises
made the courts dizzy
the frauds committed
only added to their notoriety
under oath
all their poems shattered
The judge looked me in the eye
how do you plead sir
"Guilty as charged your honour"
I here by then sentence you to 19 days
you must pay for each crime
one day for each scoundrel exposed
Please do not touch

So you take a selfie ...
What harm can it do?
Your camera shutter
clicks
clicks
clicks
as you take selfish selfie pics
Teetering on your high heels
you topple backwards like a destructive domino

How selfish!

I've never considered myself an arty or creative person and I went out of my comfort zone to write this free verse poem.

ghastly gluttony
one of seven deadly sins
with appalling good reasons
total self disrespect
abusing one's own body
that wonderful mechanism
no remorse no thought
millions starving and dying
balancing haves and have nots

How selfish you are, when you're the reason I live and the reason I die...
How selfish you are, when you compel me to laugh and when you compel me to cry...
How selfish you are, when you have my heart and when you have my soul...
How selfish you are, when you take nothing and when you take it all...
How selfish you are, when you steal lives...
How selfish you are, when you leave knifes...
How selfish you are, when you're real and when you are fake...
How selfish you are, when you raise my heart up and when you make it breaks...
How selfish you are, when you're here and when you are there...
How selfish you are, when you care and when you don't care...
How selfish you are, when you bring me the light and when you bring me the dark...
How selfish you are, when you're night holds my star's, when it holds my spark...
How selfish you are, when you make me sad and when you make me smile...
How selfish you are, when you control my life with every little while...
How selfish you are, to be my angel and to be my demon...
How selfish you are, to be my jail and to be my freedom...
How selfish you are, when you are my saviour and when you're my fear...
How selfish you are, when you're so far but still in the same time so dear...
How selfish you are, when you make me feel cold and when you make me feel warm...
How selfish you are, to carry me inside your heart and then to get me out of my home...
How selfish you are, to be in my reality and to be in my dreams...
How selfish you are, when you hate me and when you love me more than what it seems...
How selfish you are, to make me love you so damn much...
How selfish you are, when you're only in my dreams to touch...
How selfish you are, to never show me your face...
How selfish you are, to be my one and only grace...
How selfish you are, to never let me know you...
How selfish you are, to make me contain a huge love that I can't show you...
If selfishness shows your love then always be like this...
But would I be selfish if I asked you for a kiss...
I Write
Less words
in a windowless room
no use for my eyes
Humidity suffocating
what is left of me
I hear the silence of evil
poverty a state of mind
a shiny gold coin
Turns a small man
into a rich thief
Laughter the cause of death
A selfish man protects his family
like a guard,he contemplates the welfare
of his beloved family members, endures pain happily
THEY ARE A HAPPY FAMILY
A self obsessed labor focuses
on his work, pays no heed to others
accomplish task, within a given time, to grab bonus
HIS WORK IS FLAWLESS
A selfish teacher persuades his students
to assimilate the tough chapters, and make them
fathom the subject, to gain self esteem and improvement
STUDENTS BECOME KNOWLEDGABLE
A selfish politician indoctrinates his followers
by his bewitching words to procure their full support
and intentionally resolve their problem to retain his power
THE COUNTRY FLOURISHES
The selfish soldiers possess patriotism,sustain
in the inconsistent weathers, tolerate rain and heat
to fortify their nation, never allow the opponents to win
PEOPLE ARE PROTECTED
We are all inherently selfish,no doubt in that
Showing concern for our family,friends,pets,nation,
But,in fact we need to become the selfish human beings
to take care of the beautiful planet we live, to halt
the wars between the countries, rationing the food
with our fellow beings and to share resources
After all,we all belong to one planet. We are already the selfish men, politicians, soldiers and why don't we become selfish human beings?
This is my hundredth poem.

They’re big fans of themselves
basking in mirrored glory
their own shadows they adore
will talk your ear off
if you let them
they’re everywhere
I unwittingly attract them ~
I may as well be a magnet
they love me because I’m quite happy
being polite not talking about myself
gives them the whole stage to themselves
It gets old though when
I finally have something I want to share
how dare I want to hold the mike
for a whole five minutes in the spotlight
Guess what~ they can't even pretend
to be interested ~ so that’s the end of that

Brilliant and dull,
Losing and winning,
Seeking and finding –
Among the dreams, a feeling…
She risks her heart,
And, finds her hope.
She rises in the morning,
To erase the darkest fears.
She wonders through shadows,
To abide beneath the light of love.
She kisses away the past,
With laughter because she’s gone.
Beautiful and hideous,
Winter and summer,
Chaotic and peaceful –
Despite her faith, she blunders…
She lingers in her self-pity,
Still facing the battle with vigor.
She wrecks the music,
Playing notes of pale and weak.
She invites the prayers,
Then silences her screams.
She is an echo of yesterday,
While still awaiting tomorrow’s lease.
She is wild and willing,
Welcoming the moments, while…
She decides who she will be,
Her heart and soul grow wings,
And she is awkward in her melancholy.
But, she still grieves…
Pieces of her destiny, pieces never settled.
Black and white,
A frown and a smile,
Right and wrong,
Even what she knows grows thorns,
She reaches for the stars,
While playing in the dark.
She embraces the gentle ones,
Never sure of their calm.
She dreads Autumn’s close,
While the snow accumulates in her soul.
She is the end and the start,
Where she goes, hope follows her home.
She regrets those barren years,
But her heart remembers and fears.
She is good. She is bad –
Yet, her faith is like her breathe,
Always there, always exhaling…
Moments in prayers, prayers who know,
Beyond this world, there is life –
Love so amazing - it is her reason for praising
Humble and prideful,
Abundant and wanting,
More or less..
She is everything and nothing,
And, always… she knows she’s been chosen…
For this very moment, for this very life,
For this very joy and peace – love that never leaves,
Because, forever and always – Oh, yes…
She believes!
can it be, equanimity the antidote
a life unexamined, is a life not worth living
self-absorption hears the drum of one
it an ego-driven malfunction
wrong reality rapt in silent adagio
the sponge soaks the water and cannot desiccate
your desires alone illusory, arrogance
leading to aversion, not to confuse with self-love
Oyez soliloquy! (gavel strikes) so hence
primal love you claim to defend—a chimera

Don't go before me, please stay awhile,
I want to remember your quirky smile
and your dancing eyes and the lilt of your voice
and the way you laughed when I gave you the choice
of marrying me or, something worse,
to wander the earth forever cursed,
unable to love or care for another,
and now we've become like sister and brother.
Grown old together, and set in our ways,
quarrelling, laughing and counting the days
when we are apart, two halves of the whole,
my morning papers, my Sunday morning stroll,
your Laurel to my Hardy, the quench for my thirst,
whatever will I do if you go first?
Don't go before me, have some regard,
life without you will be terribly hard.
How will I cope? It's impossible to tell.
Pictures and memories are all very well
but they'll never replace the smell of your hair,
or being in a room and knowing you're there.
Or squeezing your hand whilst you are sleeping,
or watching soppy movies and knowing you're weeping.
If you're not there I'll be missing all this,
your involuntary laughter, your goodnight kiss.
The way you wear your specs on your nose.
The startled look when you wake from a doze.
The Gods in their heaven will forever be cursed
if my prayers are unanswered and you go first.
If you do go before me I'll never forgive
the way you relinquished your willingness to live
and left me bereft of feeling, and more,
a ship without rudder, a boat without oar.
For without you, I'm nothing - a meaningless thing,
a quest without purpose, a bell without ring.
A pale imitation of a man that used to be,
blinded by a growing rage that would not let me see
any further than tomorrow, if you should go before
and leave me here floundering on life's barren shore.
For what good will I be without you in my life?
My friend, my companion, my partner - my wife.
If you do go before me, can I ask you to be kind
and don't walk too quickly - for I'll not be far behind.
The Selfish Poet
Posts their work, eat comments
as if at a feast.
But close their pen, when it
comes to a reply?
Inimitable,arrogance divine!
Do they in mirrors all day look?
Admiring only their face and poetry?
Am joyful to know that most here surely
are givers not selfish takers.
More than happy, they, to be givers,
warm friends and not just partakers.

Many selfish parents never notice abject feelings of children.
The selfish thoughts in your mind take up arms…
Moving through the inner chambers of your thoughts.
Your ego, sharp and frosty as winter--
prowls among others, leaving its mark and sneering.
Patience huddles in the corner…
folding her hands and cooing ;
“We each go back to the earth when our hour finally closes.”
The ordinary moments lean close ,
laying their hushes against your ear.
Kindness leans in, pressing a hand to your shoulder,
watching Pride storm past.
Understanding walks at your side ,
its steps measured… its counsel sure.
Breathe in slowly and remind yourself:
“Goodness moves with me into every moment."
