Running With the Rain

Oh I love the sound of the rain
   a softly spoken spiraling sustain,
marathon runners against the grain
all soon lost within their drain...

One slows down near my eye
a staring contest with a somber sigh,
could it be a suspicious spy?
as my tears match their coasting cry...

It then speeds up again
leaving satiated sorrows within its stain,
for it utters no words to complain
only the remnants of its strain...

Avoiding languishing lanes to leap
   where whispering wallows weep,
formless in its kaleidoscope keep
racing down the window to sweep...

Longing lugubrious raindrops skewing
   victimized amidst my viewing,
each one in a ponderous pursuing
a dismal deluge in their renewing...

A jaded journey of their repeating
   sharing thoughts upon our meeting,
all is dry after their completing
   memories once shared now fleeting.

Silent Running

The coolness of the morning air, rushing over me,
Silent running, sunrise, peace, tranquility,
Heart is pumping faster, breathing getting deeper,
Stride’s becoming shorter, as the hill grows steeper.

Rain is gently falling, cool upon my face,
Refreshing me all over, quickening my pace,
This therapeutic feeling, flowing through my veins,
It overtakes my tiredness, as I start to feel the strain

Run is almost over, slowly homeward bound,
Silent running through the streets, making not a sound,
Endorphins start to surface, I feel like I can fly,
An energy comes bursting out, must be the runners high :0)

Here lies a grave,
a conglomerate headstone
without a name.
weeds and cobwebs
wrapped tight around the heartless edge.
Caretaker rides his rusty deer
pretending he's a nascar stud
waking the dead and stirring mud.
He take's his lunch beneath a tree,
eating twinkies with green fingertips...
For his love he'll steal a wreath,
and place it gently on her grave.
That bears a scar called, 'long forgotten"
A grave he's coined"no name".

Running Tide

Knee deep in surf
The water clung to her
Changing silk gown
To wrinkled shiny skin
Never had I envied ocean water so
But then t'was I who'd let her go
Drowning in green eyes
With fear of clinging ties
Holding me back

Time escapes my imagination this morning.
When I wake, my dreams relent.

Take me away, sweet love, far from these
Burning roads, where rivers run free, and
Spirits soar.

Hold my hand and lift me up, your words
Wash over me like a swift moving creek,
Healing my damaged soul.

Your eyes bloom like the new moon,
Close and bursting like a sunflower leaning
In to bathe me in your glow.

I have always lived in a mansion of beauty,
Sunlight reflects off the gossamer ribbons
Of spider trails drifting through the Red Pines
Ouside my window, reaching new lands I
Know will disappear with the coming storm.

I'll take my time, return your smile,
Tomorrow will come, but not today.

I'm running away but I don't know where
Can't find my way but I really don't care.
And I don't know which way I might go
I guess it all depends on which way the wind blows.
But I'm running
And I don't even know what I'm running from.
I'm just running
I'm just running
Running blind with no where to hide
Running head on towards what I can't describe
I'm just a running
Just running
Running hard away from what I am
From what I've been just as fast as I can.
But there's no where I can run that You won't see
And no where I can go that I can't be
Maybe one of the ones I'm running from . . . is me.
But I'm running
I'm running.
Maybe I'm more afraid of stopping, and having to deal with me,
Than running blind into, the devil I've yet to see.
I keep running
I keep running
What makes me run well I don't know
I can't be afraid because it scares me so.
I'm running
I ain't running free
I'm running
Trying my best to get away from me.
Am I running from who I am
Or am I running from who I'll be?
I don't expect that you can answer that question for me.
And in the meantime,
I'm running
I'm running

Santa With Running Nose

Santa's red cap is turning blue
his nose running with Christmas flu
and the Doctor's advice
was "it will be nice,
wrap the gifts with natural glue."

Lizard Running

A lizard rushing
to hide. Scorching sun. I can't
hide from scorching needs.

Running For My Life

A teen when Mom died

Five young brothers and sisters

Dunn supported them

Pro football player with heart

Started running for his life

Written for Brian Strand’s Ekphrasis contest.

Former NFL running back Warrick Dunn not only managed to support his own family
but started building homes for other families when he played with the Tampa Bay
Buccaneers. In “Running for my Life” he describes how he later met face-to-face
with the man convicted of shooting and killing his mother Betty, a Baton Rouge,
Louisiana police officer.

Running For My Life

}*{

A light rain drizzles through the humid morning air
The sun slowly rising, as if without a care.

Awakening the sleepy world to the dawn of a beautiful day
I grab my trainers and im on my way.

Refreshing liquid falls ever so smoothly, rejuvenating me
Feeling alive, a gentle breeze, feeling free.

The coldness emerges from the droplets, chilling my skin
Running a solo race, that no one needs to win.

My feet hitting the pavement, my body begins to happily rejoice
This day is mine, what I do is my choice

I run where my heart and soul are joyfully entranced
My feeling of freedom, totally enhanced.

To where im me and im running free
Ill be fine, that I can guarantee..

Why Do You Keep Running

She said "Why do you keep running, slow down a little;
Why don’t you open your eyes and see beyond the horizon;
Don’t you see it…?? Coz I see it;
I see it very well without having to squint my eyes or stretch them thus far”
I see it.

“I see good measure in that scorned bitter man twisted and turned by the cruelness of this world”
“I see the sorrow hiding behind that girl’s smile, devoured by vultures of this earth,
I also see divine hope deep within, see it in her eyes as she takes it one day at a time”

So don’t run, slow down & look around you, you may be running your own race but why not stop, take a step back & walk with that troubled mother carrying so much weight on her shoulders,
Why don’t you just slow down & help carry that weight, it will only take a minute “

Coz I see it, with this slow pace of mine

I see that long lost friend, struggling, I see her hands trembling, her loneliness growing, I see her eyes swave trying to hold back anxious tears.

I see that boy and girl walking holding hands, young love it must be but why don’t you just slow down a bit, hold their hands & teach them how it should b, no young innocence should be lead astray.

So you better stop running and slow down a while, look beyond the horizon, coz it may look peaceful, serene & pure but what’s beyond it is what matters. Jus slow down a moment and look around you, it will only take a minute.

Running Rampant

When words are running rampant
You just have to rein them in.
By lassoing a few of them,
At least you can begin.

They’ll buck and kick and race around,
Defiantly at first,
Especially the adjectives –
You know that they’re the worst.

But once you calm them down and let
The verbs and adverbs mix,
The nouns and pronouns may decide
To use their bag of tricks…

Releasing prepositions
And conjunctions by the score.
You want some interjections?
Hey! You couldn’t ask for more.

If all the parts of speech are caught
You don’t have an excuse.
Without a poem resulting,
You should go and let them loose.

So string them all together
And you’ll possibly succeed
In creating, from these random words,
Some poetry to read.

Running Out

if i am to cry
give me tears to cry with
let me not wonder
with no prayers to pray with
whilst in shock and disbelief
my faith was decieved
and just was my punishment
that i was to grieve
and here i am with
not more that i want to give
my fullest devotion
a cup full of tears
here i am facing my fears
having lost someone
i loved so dear
and since that time
over and over again
my loss multiplied
when new day begin
if i am to sorrow
with which words am i to lament
do i still pray
Gods will to be bent
is my imposible, imposible
and my mourning
an endless drip
which if i not turn
the knob tightly
it would awaken if i slept
and yet i give it place
as if it were owed
is my endless love
attempting to let go
memories so happy
make me sad
no sweeter dreams
than the dreams i have
yet while my soul
waits for tears
eyes whisper
they're not here
and while my voice
would cry to God
my head has barely
given a nod
and though my heart
should need to die
my living it self says
no, not i
though it was my
greatest loss
today i cannot cry

A Running Heart and Soul

by Michael J Falotico

                                                  curtain covered heart.
                                                 slowly opened to a light.
                                                love comes in and warms.

                                                  locked window to soul.
                                                opened latches to create.
                                                heart and soul now write.

                                                     a man lies asleep.
                                              while dreams awaken inside
                                                   I now run with words.
