The Running
Time escapes my imagination this morning.
When I wake, my dreams relent.
Take me away, sweet love, far from these
Burning roads, where rivers run free, and
Spirits soar.
Hold my hand and lift me up, your words
Wash over me like a swift moving creek,
Healing my damaged soul.
Your eyes bloom like the new moon,
Close and bursting like a sunflower leaning
In to bathe me in your glow.
I have always lived in a mansion of beauty,
Sunlight reflects off the gossamer ribbons
Of spider trails drifting through the Red Pines
Ouside my window, reaching new lands I
Know will disappear with the coming storm.
I'll take my time, return your smile,
Tomorrow will come, but not today.
