Best Roberts Poems
Within reason
lies a house full of ordinary
a chest of bland memories.
You end up with
a pocketful of might have beens.
Within reason is five square feet of grass
and the proverbial white picket fence,
nothing else.
The word 'important'
never makes it onto the page.
Nothing"within reason" was ever found
that didn't already have its place.
When u abandon
Reason
you also abandon
Impossibilities.
the brother of reason
The one needs the other
two heads of the same dragon.
One breathing fire and brimstone
the other living without hope.
They never live separately
they are siamese twins.
The ying and yang of yesteryears.
They had a reason with a hint of possibility
They had something,
something maybe,
at best something insignificant.
But imagine what waits
when you eliminate 'impossible.'
In the darkest dark
within the scream of 'don’t',
inside the insanity of abandoning reason
it is there you'll find
that decaying flesh infested with worms
it is there where the round wheel was found.
You use a black shovel
through the bone
into the skull
through the brain
along the heart
into the gut.
There lies that fine line between insanity and genius
but THERE is where you have to go.
To get there you abandon reason.
Abandon the dogma shoved down your
throats all these years.
Glide on the wild side.
Show your body hair.
Expose your fangs.
Lights, camera, DANCE!

Why oh Why
A Collaboration between Seren Roberts, Tim Smith and Arthur Vaso
Poem inspired by Seren Roberts
Each poem written from a different view
The Murderer
The Murdered
The Mannequins who witnesses the crime
Why of Why
Lovers Die
Mannequins Cry
Sat, with his head in his hands
Remembering how love had once been,
Now, because of his stupidity
He was on his own, solitary again
Remembering, how love had been,
Behind the bars he now calls home
He was on his own as before and again,
Realizing, he was such a petty bitter fool
Behind the bars he now calls home
His mind, aflame with tears of regret
Realizing he was an utter fool,
To have stabbed her to death in a bloody pool
His mind aflame, with deep regret
Why... did he buy a knife that day...why?
To have stabbed her to death
Cause she had given love another try.
Oh how he wishes, its he that had died
Lovers Die
I linger with the scent of flowers
cascading over what was once spring showers
Your red hands drip passion
long since cooled
darkness surrounding you has lifted
and only I can see the light
Why couldn't you leave
a girl clamoring to be free
dressed in a burnt orange skirt
driven to the stake with your hurt
Words were written on the wall
but all you did was erase it all
Twisted as the knife turns
in a cell your hell burns
Mannequins Cry
We have no faces
We have no voices
You think we have no feelings
You see us as objects in commercial spaces
We saw the hidden knife unfold
We saw the young ones stabbed so bold
Pain is the emotion that frightens us all
Mannequins crying, tears running as we see her crawl
When the blood flowed
When the redness of hate showed
We with no faces
Shed tears at the human disgraces
Such young love so brutally robbed
By the jealous and lonely one, made us all sob
He regrets I am sure the hate that overflowed
Life's so torn it can't be sown

I love to feel the water
As it cascades over my face,
I love to feel you touch me
Through my satin and lace
I'm needing to be engulfed
In the waters falling fast
I'm needing your embrace
Our time will forever last.
I love the tingling feeling
As it sprays across my spine
Setting ,my senses reeling
Like bubbly sparkling wine.
The rushing of the stream
Getting all my juices going
The passions that I scream
It's power keeps on flowing
I love how I feel inside
As we make love beneath that fall
The nerve ends set a tingling
The passion says it all.
Let me come make your fantasy real
I'll drown in your passionate kiss
We'll get close. we'll touch we'll feel
Forever this day, we'll reminisce

Girl, I love to watch you dance
You move like heaven's breeze
There's not a boy in this room
Not looking.. Oh their pleased
Your velvet voice, like an angel
Your red lips are hot as the sun
Your sweet body is perfection
There's more.. I've just begun
I sway my body to the music beat,
Softly singing a lovers song,
I know that you're trying to be discrete
Not watching me for long.
Others look but they know the score
My eyes are just for you
Heat from my body you can't ignore
It's saying, come close to me, please do.
Touch me, hold me, let your lips meet mine,
Let me melt into your arms
Is it over the wanting time
Can we enjoy being together with no qualms
Let's sway to the music together
Let me croon a lovers tune
We can vow our love is forever
As we dance by the silvery moon.

'Tis true Francine... those lovers two...
On that Road to Kiloree...
Were to find a path quite new...
As love they found under oaken tree...
Yet theirs was naught but journey bright...
As your sentiment didst see...
Thus 'tis so must now I go...
Amidst those thoughts of yours...
To find my way to pen of day...
Those lovers we'll continue to know...
For yours the wish so found within...
Is goal of lofty worth...
And I? Indeed... shall be pressed to pen...
The why, the what, the when.

The Wet Patch
Why sit with a frown is there a need?
Yes she whispered in my ear, I think I peed.
My knickers are wet, I dare not move at all
If I stand up, down they will surely fall
Your knickers are wet, ha I did scoff
But I made sure I did, no laugh or a cough
For under my seat I would then have to peer
As there may be a puddle just under here
Went shopping before we met for lunch
Hoped lollies would stay frozen, so I could crunch
Put it in my handbag, sat upon my lap
Decided to eat quickly, so no mishap.
But lunch took quite a while
We had a laugh and a smile.
The lollies got hot, and then they did melt
I felt a cold patch sneak under my belt.
I swept off the table cloth wrapped it round like a toga
To everyone watching I said ‘it’s a new move in yoga'
To the bathroom I ran and locked the door
I dropped my wet undergarments, onto the floor
Knickers now down, I could see the stain
Was orange not pee and that I still maintain
I sniffed at my undies and then I did think
They smell of oranges, as I rinsed in the sink
I hadn’t peed at all, twas not a mishap
My ice lollies had melted, wetting my lap
Next time you see an old dear with a wet patch on her frock
Remember it might be a lolly, so you better not mock
One day you know that old dear will be you
So to yourself and to others you must always be true
A wet patch you may see, but no lollies are there
So offer her some wipes, but don’t sit on her chair

You are a mighty King with great power
That's somewhere between God and man
Oh King, you could have any woman here
Yet you dream of one girl in another land
In your vision, a bright coloured castle
There is a beautiful maiden within
Surrounded by walls of gold and stone
And all the servants wore black satin
Somewhere in your past you met her
She winked as she quickly passed by
On her way to Wales, She softly said
Smiled with dimples and emerald eyes
One night the King woke in cold sweats
His longing heart pumping with desire
He must go and find this maiden girl
This one true love set his heart on fire
On the next morrow the King set sail
One man quest to find his perfect Queen
Her voice prettier than lovely angels
More beautiful than any he'd ever seen
He came ashore in the north of Wales
Castle by castle sought his bride to be
The King took great joy in his journey
He fell in love with this amazing country
Then one day he saw it, just like his dream
There stood that bright coloured castle
And a beautiful maiden how she gleamed
That beautiful maiden is now his Queen
Now she's his girl, oh how she gleamed
His one true love, this girl, his Queen

Perhaps Justice Roberts is a just judge
But agin' the folks he must hold a grudge
Bushie is scratchin' his pate
"What a mess I did create
When I named him, did I ever misjudge!"

SONNET – SENTIMENTAL PAIN
A story of love’s pain, too hard to bear,
for a sensitive, brittle, teenage heart.
Promise of never ending love to share
destined for happiness, never to part.
Sentimental love‘s tender emotion
left wanting in it’s beautified glory
to flourish through eternal devotion
in dread of demised, bereft love story.
Walking life's road looking up to the sky
no words can silence the guilt of living,
closes eyes and whispers why I oh why,
alone with lost love never forgiving.
Tears flowing down a broken hearted face
solace of compassion without embrace.

Kay Roberts got me blushing,
She's got my blood rushing,
So I'll tell you what it is
That's really going on!
I don't know when it started,
When we crossed each others path,
It wasn't long ago
I thought I had her pegged!
So I sent her a soup mail,
And this is what I said:
I think you are mistaken
I think you are incorrect,
But wound up with mud on my face,
And a feeling of regret.
So I'm glad that I have found her,
For she brightens up my day,
I love to read her rhymes,
No matter what they say,
(I now know the word was lay)

Shadow of Delight
Whisper of a fleeting kiss
awe of gentle breeze
Dimpled smile, suggesting
fragrant shadow of delight
Images of what could be, keeps
moonlit hope aglow..
Floating prayers
catch the air of her appeal
Waiting for that special moment
as she fades into the night.

Up north on the west coast of North America
lies the Canadian province of British Columbia.
There lives a lady with poetic prowess.
With her words, she is quite a prolific poetess.
There is one thing that appears to be her hobby.
In her house, this lady has an aviary.
This is a fact that has piqued my curiosity.
With birds, how does she have time to write poetry?
Those feathered friends rarely live with silence.
To anyone preferring quiet, they can be a nuisance.
If my curiosity were a candle, it would be brightly lit.
Tell us Francine, how do you do it?

Pool's Prince Charming
by Michael R. Burch
this is my tribute to the legendary pool shark "Saint Louie" Louie Roberts
Louie, Louie, Prince of Pool,
making all the ladies drool ...
Take the “nuts”? I'd be a fool!
Louie, Louie, Prince of Pool.
Louie, Louie, pretty as Elvis,
owner of (ahem) a similar pelvis ...
Compared to you, the books will shelve us.
Louie, Louie, pretty as Elvis.
Louie, Louie, fearless gambler,
ladies' man and constant rambler,
but such a sweet, loquacious ambler!
Louie, Louie, fearless gambler.
Louie, Louie, angelic, chthonic,
pool's charming hero, but tragic, Byronic,
winning the Open drinking gin and tonic?
Louie, Louie, angelic, chthonic.
NOTE: If you like my tribute you are welcome to share it, but please credit me as the author, which you can do by copying the title and subheading. I used poetic license about what Louie Roberts was or wasn't drinking at the 1981 U. S. Open Nine-Ball Championship. Was Louie drinking hard liquor as he came charging back through the losers' bracket to win the whole shebang? Or was he just pretending to drink for gamesmanship or some other reason? I honestly don't know. As for the word “chthonic,” it’s pronounced “thonic” and means “subterranean” or “of the underworld.” And the pool world at its worst can be very dark indeed, as Louie’s tragic demise suggests. But everyone who knew Louie seemed to like him, if not love him dearly, and many sharks have spoken of Louie in glowing terms, as a bringer of light to that underworld.

Always Righteous for Seren Roberts Contest
What if always righteous brothers had been;
On them, God always let the sun shine in
All their singing and approach to each song
Musical minds sounds calmly came along.
Sun shines on righteous as well as religious
Who may be mild and meek or prestigious
To God's each asking they always adjust
And deeply in Him we truly must trust.
On righteous sun continues to shine bright
God's spirit glows in them through the night
Next morning sun starts shining on the beach
While all of the righteous it will want to reach.
On righteous who died sun still does shine
Who are now in heaven yet remain mine
Waiting for me so bright sun can share
Enveloping everyone as it glows everywhere.
