Best Roaming Poems
alone now
I roam through memories
recalling treasures of the past
journeying back to seaside treks with my husband
riding to the city to see Broadway shows
reliving nights of romance
even visiting John’s grave
in the best of times
memories carry me to ocean jetties
where vows of love were exchanged
as waves lapped gently against rocks
if only we could feel these sensations again
family outings at the beach
building sandcastles
burying Dad’s feet in sand
sauntering along the festive boardwalk
hiking through woodlands with friends who have passed
wanting to hug them again
feeling the weight of concrete
preventing my spirit from moving on
as I reach out to heaven
seeking a sign
praying for guidance
hoping past joy will be restored
confined by sadness
I roam through memories
alone now

Oh, where did you come from? The sad sight of you
breaks my heart in two. I see that you're lost,
scared, disheveled and emaciated.
You wander from street to street, town to town
aimlessly; your travels fraught with grave peril.
If you jumped the backyard fence and ran away...
please wander back home. Your family must be
distraught and looking for you! Why did you flee?
Or were you abandoned in the middle of nowhere?
Whoa! Danger! Danger! Danger! Steer clear
of busy highways! Do not cross. Please turn back
Don't run from me; let me rescue you!
Where do you go when winds howl in
bone-chillingly cold nights? In my mind's eye,
you're trembling as you whimper in discomfort
As you bear the brunt of the harsh elements,
the sword of damocles hangs over your neck
like a leash, and death casts its shadow from above
Beware! Don't wander into roads with busy traffic!
Watch out for cars whizzing by! The likelihood of a fatal
accident is extremely high! If only you'd realize ...
how unsafe you are roaming these streets!
Danger lurks everywhere your four legs take you!
Poor thing, don't be afraid. Let me save you!

In the darkened twilight
My thoughts roam.
Even tho i bleed the same color,
Cry the same salty tears,
my appearance to some is different,
And yet, thought of as less than....
Educated by the same system,
Speaking the same language,
And yet, you still don't hear me.
With naked eyes, I see clearly,
As your blinders make you believe
You see all..... You know all;
Your politics
Your religion
Your social status,
And yet,
can you tell me in your knowing,
What it is to be truly human ?
What it is to be truly civilized ?
Does your religion explain any of that,
Does your politics tell you what to believe ?
In the darkened twilight
My thoughts roam,
As I work myself back home....

I hear a rustling in the leaves
As the wind huffs and heaves
A storm is coming ever near
A rustling in the leaves I hear
Gray clouds roam across the sky
Some leaves swirl up on high
Thunder rumbles in the dome
Across the sky gray clouds roam
The rain will fall for a while
And make the land more fertile
Flowers seem to love it all
For a while the rain will fall
A rainbow shows its many hues
As the sky regains its blues
A pot of gold are at the end of those
Its many hues a rainbow shows

There is a little sanctuary, not so far away
That I would like to visit and see myself some day
It houses all the lost, abandoned and abused
Exotic cats and wild ones people used to use
Their stories are so very sad these tigers in a cage
Whose past owners thought these animals
Belonged in homes or on stage.
Some had teeth removed so that they couldn't bite
Others lost their claws so they couldn't even strike
Some were chained for their whole life not ever left to roam
But now that their in the sanctuary, it makes them feel at home
They're treated with humanity, and fed the food they need
They're not forced to perform or even forced to breed
These cats are still behind fences or in an enclosed home
I so believe what would be best is to leave wild animals alone
A tiger roaming freely across the wild plains
Is nature at its best, and more of their lives could be saved.

Roaming these lands often I cry these tears,
Trying to wash away the pain, along with all my fears.
Preparing myself for the worst
With a feeling my heart may burst.
Forcing my heart into remorse
With hopes it will stay on course.
Always waking to a bright new day
Where the pain will be kept at bay.
As the winds stretch through my soul
My heart sets on a new goal.
I look at myself in the mirror
As death rolls closer and nearer.
I traveled through the angry lands
While angels call out hopeful demands.
Looking up into the sky
Closing my eyes as I hear the doves cry.
Gliding onto each stepping-stone
As fate grows carelessly more prone.
In these lands I still roam
No matter how much desire is shown.

Verse
I grew up physically abused,
with only grandma to hold on to.
I was a frail child confined,
and couldn't understand the pain I was going through.
I roamed!
In my teenage years,
I was rebellious and out of control.
Emotional scars were souvenirs,
and I felt I lost my soul!
I roamed!
Down a long dark path,
I thought my spiritual journey would end.
Listening to a demonic laugh,
I found myself in prison with no friend!
I roamed!
I cried out to God for an answer,
for the death of my grandma was too much!
Spiritual pain ate me away like cancer,
and I felt God had just lost touch!
I roamed!
Down that dark tunnel of tribulation,
I began to see a spark of light.
I continued forward with determination,
with a stronger spiritual appetite!
I roamed!
Inside behind these evil walls,
I constantly fed my hungry mind.
At times I felt so small,
but mentally I was no longer confused!
I roamed!
I was once weak and frail,
and attempted suicide with a knife.
I fought my way out of hell,
because I now valued my life!
I roamed!
My journey began so long ago,
and the strength of my heart continues on.
I survived a spiritual TKO,
emotional scars remain, but insecurities are gone!!
I still continue to roam!

The ever-present
Autumn wind
Roams outside my door
Sometimes with
A thunderous roar
Sometimes with
A faint whisper
Stirring trees
Twirling dead leaves
Of red and gold
Each morning, we greet
At the door
Or at the window
Soothing winds
I gleefully welcome in
Winds that make me shiver
Will continue
To roam outside

Based on a character from Stephen King's The stand
Like an alien that is lost in an angry land
Sunburnt and scorched in the savage soul sand
I see for miles and miles
Feasting on fear, misfortune and misery
You long for my lies and my lunacy
Knowledge...you think that you killed
Still I am all knowing...not saying or showing
I'm on a nightmare flight with my red eye roaming
Lost ones I find in desolate dreams
I'm a wolf at the wishing well soon to fulfill all of your wants and all of your needs
I scan over your skin and sex you up with silence and invisibility
I overthrow the overlords...the mortal mice that hold the kingdom keys
They call me the last magician of the outlandish and obscene
Stalking from shadows...pure paranoia it gives me great peace
Invading your isolation like a monster of means
A black stone I'll give you for your service to me
You roll the dice of risk and it keeps on rolling
Logic now levitates as my fury is flowing
I claim a chaos crown with my red eye roaming
I travel through time like sandworms in storms
I go crazy in cyclones spinning out of control
I'm a dead end to Demascus on a blinding bad road
I'm a deadly detour unto your divine destiny
I switch the scene when I see children of light are coming
I'm a shape shifting serpent in a suicide stream
I am the wolf
I am the crow
I am the rattlesnake
My time is too short like a clock on a crucifix
I'll kiss you with lips of love and of loathing
Hells hour comes round with my red eye roaming

Blank verse
I sense life stirring once again
through daybreak's tint and mellow rain,
echoing out bohemian thrills
while nomad's pulse begin to restart--
as instinct's voice reel in my heart
The roaming swirls footsteps, long
and conga drums pound upbeat songs
that now, the hunt for newness grows
savoring gifts, old and refined:
this curious flair romps in my mind.
All pilgrims move me like a trance
in firelight's endless shadow-dance,
while eyes delight in trails not blazed
the rhythm clicks an earthy jive--
by wandering, I fly revived!

Can you hear me as I try to sleep,
whispers within my space.
Can you hear me cry as I dream,
of my home, my families place,
Do you understand at all,
just how this battle goes on.
Do you know all that fall,
the hero's as they stand strong.
My whisper is my prayer to God please,
keep us under you sword and sheild.
Help us to keep up the pace,
help us in this battle feild.
A whisper is all I can hear,
as I begin to fall.
A whisper is just, my dear,
a way to give you my call.
Will I come home to you again,
or will God take me.
This whisper tells me in my head,
only God knows where I will roam.

Roaming around
Proud of her passionate lover,
Fearless she relished to hover,
Caught one day in a mess,
Crazy not to confess,
How long could stay under cover ?
