with her Mother's heels and veil
   she holds his hand solemnly
tells him forever they'll be
... they are five years old

two decades later they laugh
   remember first rehearsal
again she wears Mother's veil
     ... this time...

The tempest kiss of seaweed miss.
Her temper heard ~ his heart stirred.
     His ship astern and fast.
    The siren’s scorn lambaste;
Blind youth’s reality is blurred.

The satin hair of Whitney bright
A pearlescent veil, the tide ~

Rehearsal
Poetry is my palette.
I slowly draw my words,
whispered first on the paper,
then chosen they are heard!

I read them over and over,
and listen if the beat is tight,
that the verse and the structure are in tune,
and that the meaning is just right.

I paint my picture...

Wedding Rehearsal
Wedding director perplexed.
Running around in a stew!
No one knows what they should do!
Bride in a tizzy!

"Everyone take your place please!"
Organist plays Wedding March.
Everything will turn out right!
Groom is very calm.

Wedding Rehearsal
Preacher, flowers, dresses, cake
Husband, wife, bouquets, music
Maid of Honor, Best Man, rings
Rehearsal dinner

Ill-fitting tux, bad weather
Parents, in-laws arguing
Photographer a no-show
Should have just eloped

Ah, groom is drinking saki .
Bride to be is having tea.
Both parents having headaches.
Kimono’s moving.

The bride’s ankles are swollen.
The groom pours bit more saki.
Ancestors, all are happy.
Soon, there will be three.

The Wedding Rehearsal
She and mirror had a chat
dreams and hopes flitted past
vainly smiled and said goodbye
brides here are fully covered
Veiled for life...

The Rehearsal
Today I stopped waiting.
I had promised distance.
I never break promises,
but this time,
it was survival.

I ranted a little,
accused a lot,
a disgusting manipulation,
for I must sew the seed,
the opposite of love.

So I am cut off,
I am hated,
and I have totally lost,
control, happiness, warmth,
but I am levelled.

Today...

Dear Wedding Rehearsal Dinner
Dear wedding rehearsal dinner
Sorry for not speaking sooner
We've been delayed by the bride
'Cause she's gone out for a ride
You know — who are we without her
A question I just can't answer
So let's drink our disappointment to sleep
Because the burden is not ours to keep

Dear wedding...

Everyone in the small town had all gather in the park.
The children were all happy, it was finally getting dark.
This was the night in which Santa should appear.
No clouds remaining, so the sky was crystal clear.

The treats on the tables, the children having fun.
Decorated cookies,...

The groom met for the the first time
his future mother-in-law.
Things about his wife-to-be
suddenly made sense.

His bride was beautiful, but
seeing his future mirrored
in the sad eyes of her dad. . . .
the groom walked away.
