Best Ref Poems
Football coach Bobby Bowden was never one to cuss
But refs make mistakes and coaches have a right to fuss
“St. Bowden” as he was lovingly called by players
Instilled moral values and hushed all the naysayers
He’d not take God’s name in vain, so he coined dadgumit
It became his trademark, might appear in his obit
If a ref made a bad call, he’d race onto the field
Never said God d*** it, when the ref’s call he appealed
"Dadgumitrefereeism" got his point across
The refs would shy away because Bobby was the boss
Sometimes calls were overturned since Bobby was revered
Short and stout in stature, but the refs still shook in fear
The “Saint” played with God on his side and the refs knew it
Dadgumitrefereeism didn't bother God a bit
I think I know why the ocean flows
Why the sun shines...why the moon glows
I think I know why leaves fill trees
Why flowers grow...why winds breeze
I think I know why angel's- wing
Why hearts beat...why birds sing
I think I know why the deserts- sand
Why mountains peak...why snowflakes land
I think I know why friends are fun
Why elders walk...why children run
I think I know why skies are blue
Why grass is green...why two is two
I think I know why the ocean's flow
why love is love...I think I know

Nothing Can Separate Us From God’s Love
By Betty Harp Butler
There is no mountain high enough,
And no valley deep enough
To separate us from God‘s love.
This Coronavirus is not strong enough
To overcome all of us,
If we trust in our great God above.
God is big enough to bring us through
Any trial that we face.
When we trust in Him, He is Faithful.
He’ll give us the strength,
To run Life’s long race.
“God is our refuge and strength,
a very present help in trouble.” Psalm 46:1 KJV

"Bugger the "Group" mentality. I say burn it up with a revolutionary act, start your own Group. If you didn't exist, there would be no world. You are your own world, your own Cosmos, you are luminescent, keep on shining - the people who matter will move towards your light. Leave the other befuddled fools walk in the dark holding hands, following tails like sheep. This is a fantastic expression of your individuality. Always keep speaking your TRUTH." LLB
"Bedknobs, Bell Curves and a Broomstick"
Words of wisdom
sitting in bed
reading a story
from another person's head
A short story
titled "At the Edge of the Bell Curve"
registers ding ding ding
this is a mind
worthy to swim
Everyone has a story
some breathing fire
flying courageous
Majestic
saving people
outspread
Dragon Wings
Others are just
walking talking
milk and honey
Love-Ins
tap tap tapping
seeking numbers
for competitive wins
Heroic Acts
of pulling hidden
courageous minds
up from the road cracks
Now, that's pure,
GOLDEN
This is the true story
Blue Birds singing for
honey and flapjacks
hidden pearls
are the gems...
now there's no
turning back
ever again -
your REAL STORY
begins.

Why am I running round this table
Getting sweaty and looking a sight
Someone said it would enable
Me to lose some weight, I hope they’re right
A tiny bat an even smaller ball
Goes flying past my head
Didn’t even see it, ref makes a call
Think I lost is what he said
Table tennis sounds so simple a game
I am hot and sweaty, plus ashamed to lose
Not gentile at all, should change its name
Rapido tennis is the name I would choose

For years the men have ruled the roost
so it’s high time ladies soccer got a boost
In July the winning team will lift the cup
it’ll be filled with bubbly for gals to sup!
Two teams will play in the final game
the winning side will see their name
as champions; this will open folks eyes
that soccer isn’t just a game for guys!
The players take part from many empires -
some teams are bad, but they are triers.
They represent their nation with such pride
in time we know the teams who've qualified
I watch the tv to see my favorite team
they score a goal, I whoop and scream
Players run like hares across the pitch
practiced set pieces go without a hitch
They score again, I leap from my chair
the other team say the goal wasn’t fair
The ref says play on, but they are fuming
tempers flare, payback’s all consuming
One player grabs hold of the other’s shirt
and pushes her over, she’s badly hurt
How could the ref miss that blatant foul
perhaps she should throw in the towel!
I jump up shouting at the female ref -
Is she blinking blind as well as deaf!!!
Perchance all referees should be male
they’d spot misdemeanors without fail!
It's fun watching the women's world cup
and interest in ladies soccer is on the up!

Where have you been! you silly man!
don't blame it all on tryptophan!
Maladies from Malta mutATE and Gur G....itate!
as Jimbo watched the Vikings dominate!
It's true my kind heart is totally fake!
football first sweetheart!.... hope your fever breaks!
Dear Charma, you've got snow! make an ice-pack!
it's almost halftime!...... then I'll be back!
And if you grow weary of my attitude!
I'll level a few notches, and be a sweet dude!
The Ref blew his whistle!.... #4 is quite grand!
our sinking tag-poem is back on dry land!
So without much ado!
no need for a chorus!
I tag you my friend, Miss Culverhouse! Please Doris!
(Phyllis tagged John, John tagged DaneAnn, DaneAnn tagged Charmaine, Charma tagged me! and I tag Doris!)
Humanity those things that you've done to me
My heart says no, my soul says it's not so
No, this couldn't be
Those feelings of emotions that erupt
Is more than just a gallon just little over half a cup
And all the sins that you have done (I have done, we have done)
Remember you're not the only one
God has said enough
And when the time is true
He"all say in His hearts of hearts He loves even you, even I
And who are we to throw stones
For most sins we share we are not alone
For God has said...I must be forgiving
This is a plea for all who are living
And keep on living
For the negative you choose
He said I must be there for you
And all the evil that you speak
I must yet shall I, I will turn the other cheek
God has said enough
To be liken to Him for I,
For we must drink of this bitter cup
And when the time is true that I must love you
God says to the saved and the lost once again
What a friend we have in Him
And when the time is true...
Only then this is when
When the time is true
This is when... That is when
That I must love you

I had an argument inside my head
Between the right lobe and the left
It started getting loud in there
They needed a boxing ref
The id and the libido
Were spectators on the side
The heart couldn’t bear to watch
So it ducked behind the lung to hide
The left lobe, controlling my right hand
Decided to punch me in the face
Hoping the right lobe would give up the fight
Feeling totally disgraced
But the right lobe, controlling my left hand
Instead poked me in the eye
Knowing the left lobe was the right lobe
That controls the need to cry
When the right leg started kicking
The left one tried to respond in kind
Which only made me fall to the floor
They had totally lost my mind
My nervous system got nervous
I started twitching all about
My bladder was getting madder
And let all the contents out
Internal organs started taking sides
Not even aware of what started the fight
When I was pounced upon by three big men
Tying me up in a coat of white
The needles they poked into me
Put my whole body in a numbing sleep
Electronic shock shot through both lobes
Hoping to keep them both at peace
It didn't work
A hardened heart
closed the mind, so unkind
left the soul without empathy
struggling to understand
the joy in Christ's gift to man
Salvation of the soul
a reason to hope, to grow
in the light, the love, the wonder
of a grace that made life kinder
A hardened heart
broke through the dreams
coloring everything
in seas of blackest sorrow
left the thoughts filled with despair
carried the fear to the soul
where it kept joy from rising up
and leaving a promise of Him who knows
that faith can brighten the darkness
with sincerity and assurance
that joy comes to the One who listens
to the prayers of true repentance
A hardened heart
gorged by lies from the deceiver
Jesus adversary, the wicked one
who knows only to steal and destroy
love that flows into the light
from hearts who've learned to fight
the darkness, the hardness
with love that is gentle and kind
filled with faith that reminds
His light is inspired
His love is a burning fire
His grace is there for us
Salvation will always come
to those who pray from a heart
convicted by the Holy Spirit
who echoes His beauty in us!
Acts 3:19 - Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;

A Light in the Darkness
A football player named Zay
Made an exceptional play.
The ref called it flaunting,
But I thought it quite daunting.
Can't a guy celebrate a great day?
Your smiles-gone, from past setbacks
Use my candle and melt my wax
To fill the holes in all your cracks
Your hopes of dim, Re; loss of trust
Use my polish of magic trust
To blanket your hardship's- layered crust
Your closing eyes of tears- In weep
Use my love to soak in deep...
Into your heart, for you to keep
Your hope for life and world of dreams
Use my lotions, potions; happy creams
My moisturizer's to mend your seams
Your open wounds of scar, you bare
Use my blood of blue I share
My darling, for it is you...for most, I care
Your sadness breaks my heart to bleed
Use my oil and mill my seed
My healing powers are all you need'

ball slams hard against the floor
running fast so I can score
players try to steal the ball
sharp turn, they slam into the wall
coach is screaming plays out loud
we score a point, he’s very proud
Ref. gives the ball to the other team
they want to score, but we’re too extreme
whistle blows and the game starts
we whizz around the court like darts
too fast for anyone to catch
I think I know who will win the match
I get the ball and run down the court
but I have to pull short
two girls block my way
but I won’t let them ruin my day
I fake left then right
when they realize I’m out of sight
I push the ball high in the air
And cross my fingers it’ll get there
And as you can bet,
I got nothing but net!
I tried playing basketball
but i suck
everytime i try to shoot the ball someone ducks
i guess my aim is off i might need glasses
because everytime i shoot the ball something always crashes
i don't know why i'm bad at this game
it's kinda like a race
until i go to shoot then i hit the ref in the face
they kicked me off the team then i got real sad
but it's ok that ref had a reason to get mad
i was walking down the hall and then i found a dime
and then thought maybe i'll try soccer next time.
NBA Finals Prayer
Lord, blesseth thine Warriors
And treateth not thine Fans
with a such a Cavalier attitude.
Thy restoreth our soles.
Thy quickeneth and brusheth off our feet of Klay.
Thy maketh passes down for Green fast breaks.
Yea, though we've walked through
the Valley of Lebron,
we shall fear no Dellavedova.
Thy Ref and thy Stef, they comfort us.
Thou preparest a bench for Mike Miller to keep warm
in the absence of his highness' hiney Heat.
Thou anointest Anderson Varejao's head with jojoba oil;
My Curry runneth over.
Surely championships and endorsements
shall follow us all the years of our careers.
And we will dwell in the house of the Oracle for Game Seven
(if necessary).
Amen
