CANTOS I (Tract I)
The woods were stirring, and the stars twinkling,
the wind whispering a thousand new breezes;
....if a sound came, it came with smiles -----
and if it spoke it would call me friend....
and I would call it mother, or brother
or sister,
or God?
Dare I say 'God' for such a simple thing? ----
But what I feel is as real as any science....
something behind the green curtain;
.... Something, under the speck of flower shoots,
that bloom as ornate as any chic-portrait
or seem to thrust higher than man's great
skyscrapers, speckled anew each spring,
for mine eyes,
and yours
and the world's
Dare I say 'God?'

Dual curved carved crystalline it rests
quantum wave particles interwoven at best
allows Heart to heave
explorations suavely gentle, feel
Heal with non-local light white
across Tibetan height nights
continuously crafted through storm eyes
looping smile sighs, holding Soul steady
whorling, whispering veins tirelessly heady
expansive is a rush of blood
Rain tears feed its sizzling throbbings
arteries androgyny crying crumbling piously
lying awake, nothing’s at stake
Heart within Planet of the Heart
touching, encircling, squeezing
Soft supple sublime smoothing
in rhythmic dance inward and out
twirls across seaspun songs, sealed
as blood flows through brain cells
holds no sin, beating making no din
Heart pure stillness, pricelessly present
through sockets smiling : sees, hears, feels
tastes, smells ~ in silence connecting its moment is only a moment
holds exalted longings without expectations
observing own arising gyrations
musings, twinnings, dismantlings
Beauty of Heart melts catalytic
making music, fascination still
cannot label nor judge neither contradict
or impress empresses or advocates
governors, lover hierophants or poets
fathoms no fools ~ merely IS
Presents primal lingering languid gaspings
for its own beatings, pulsing, unfoldings
irrepressible expressions
explosions of expirations
Split open its P R E S E N C E
e x p o s i n g slivered voluptuous
vulnerability breathing
HEART AM I
Violent attack,
An aquatic invasion:
The tigress’ hunt.
A light has always been glowing
Close to the heart of the universe.
Over the course of time and evolution,
We as mortals have lived in fragile transience.
Yet flickering in the soul
Is the sublime, primordial sparkle.
In this ember born of the primal fire,
The transient contains the immortal
And the infinite caresses the finite.
Through the morass of earthly chaos,
The crystal beacon shines, and
Its power has not been extinguished.
She is staring thru a window
so small its hard to see;
Still, she dares to wonder,
an affair is what he seeks;
She didn't want to mate -
what she could not dominate;
If this is all he needed,
he could have let her be;
It's not fair she felt cheated -
her despair no one can see;
He didn't know that her agenda -
did include a primal seed;
Doesn't care for his opinion -
or how he dared to take the lead;
Promiscuity he claimed slated -
he turned over a new leaf;
In her youthful ignorance -
so blind she couldn't see;
It wasn't the man she needed -
it was the man who needed thee!!!
Carlos Bousono’s poem : Recordando a pastora imperio
for Damaso Alonso
(Poem published in the collection : Metaphora del desafuero, 1988, and dedicated
to Damaso Alonso, who exerted on Carlos Bousono an avowed influence and
patronage, concludes my own present tribute to the Maître. I confess I had not
read Bousono’s poems – I may have glanced at a couple of poems when I first
bought the Espasa-Calpe anthology some years ago – before I began translating
them on October 16, 2013.)
I have always thought that in the state of sudden immobility
of the immemorial dancer of flamenco the entire dance
is concentrated of a sudden in this posture
of an instant,
under the weight of centuries,
all of its foregoing agitation,
in such a way as in its absolute fixation is to be found
its passing and its minute ad mysterious simulation :
the flight of sea gulls over the sea, their avid and sudden swoop
onto the prey,
and she herself, the flamenco dancer herself, becomes in that instant,
like the form most refined and pure
of such an incomprehensible paradox : velocity and paralisation,
becoming more dense in the procès
between Aquiles and parsimony,
or the tortoise and despair…
No, there is no différence,
because to differentiate hère is to make a descent,
while here there is but an ascent.
And has the flamenco dancer understood suddenly
that to make a move
is an intolerable imperfection
for whoever aspires to the most arduous achievement,
to the supreme compromise with the fire in the beyond
and the surprise, sacred and full of rejoicing between
the fresh flames,
a compromise, then,
with the truth of the highest form of living,
and so the dancer of flamenco
remained for this reason without moving
in a difficult equilibrium
to see if that position, without touching it,
in not moving any of the pièces,
without turning a page, without causing the hinges to friction,
could by chance last, keep enduring there,
on the razor’s edge,
maintain itself on the head of a pin’s unlikely verticality,
balance itself on tip-toes, without breathing, each instant
succeeding the other,
on the verge of the abysm itself,
earth and boulders coming loose,
and one after another in succession, and in succession…

I feel your need to romp on twilight's climb
despite the consequences life can claim,
you know my velvet touch can make you pine
I am mystery you know by first name.
Through hours we will groan a sinless prayer
and think of nothing more than primal flesh,
sensing how deeply you think... I am rare
a warm appetite that brings hearts refreshed.
If you accept desire's sweet effect
and choose wild abandon for fire's release,
then plunge with me until grasslands are wrecked
as stripe of innocent love climbs and heaves.
But before we complete our final song,
can't gushing heat douse instant passion's heed?
To covet me... tenderly to prolong
my tigress’ spirit by grace will concede.

Can you see now
The quest of how
Can you niche deep
The dreams that sleep
Can you feel then
The fest right then
Can you work smiles
The mood that styles
Can you know zest
The scripts of jest
Can you ask spell
The wit that tells
Can you urge more
The joys galore
Can you meet clear
The dark that fears
Can you make time
The pun in rhymes
Can you find play
The words that stay

The Sea is my lover
the shoreline our bedroom
slowly he takes me to
the Ends of Forever.
Ignoring the jagged rocks he comes calling
cutting himself on the
stones and the shingles.
Arriving breathless, he lifts me
higher
until I crash on the vague
horizon.
And I am left
clinging
to his nebulous shadow
while my salt tears descend
and fill his great
Body.
Enter the beast of manlihood
Living flesh fall to their prey
Taste the wine of mortal sons
Sacrificial blood of fates
Slaughtered nations desecrated
Now under the flag of hate
Dying for anothers cause
Seducing powers contemplate
Free to rape,free to kill
Free to conquer all at will
Impaled corpses piled high
and many more are doomed to die
Some rebel,some retreat
Falling to their masters feet
Extra flesh to feed his wrath
Smell the stench of carcass baths
Revieling plagues and atrophy
Planting rotted demon seed
Wars and chaos fill the earth
Burnt remains of all its worth
Bodies left to slugs and worms
Flies swarm in and take their turn
Decayed bones and tortured souls
With no remorse the bell does toll!!!
It's the sun's prerogative
whether to shine.
It's the moon's volition,
to make our dreams sublime.
It's the stars discretion,
whether we align.
But to love you
is a choice all mine.
Primal and divine!
Primal law of nature
In winter
Give the most
Save the must
O Little Earth, You Present Fruits Of Primal Seed
O little earth, wonder rests in thy glorious all
You allow mankind but what is he truly worth
Is he no more than an insect, so very small
Gazing at bright Heavens confused by mighty earth
To we, you giveth honey from thy heaving breasts
And the purest sweetness of your clearwater to drink
Bounty of night's black darkness for to sleep and rest
And wonders of our human minds for us to think.
O little earth, you present fruits of primal seed
Have you jewels hid, waiting for our greedy hands
Do you hold even more to harvest for our needs
And in reality, blessings even more in your lands!
O little earth dare we from you take all and even more.
With ravenous greed, we desire an even bigger score!
