It Was You

It was you from the moment I seen you.
I knew in my heart I would be the one to rescue you, but in the end you ended up saving me.
I see in your eyes the pain that lingered inside.
From your past relationships your pride was on cloud nine.
My theory was to put your fears aside.
You feel like I am like all the rest, so you continuously put my love through a test.
Why won’t you let me love you?
My love is a virtue, forever lasting external statue.
It was you my handcrafted imbue tattoo I cling to.
If you only knew how I truly feel about you.
I was sculpted only for you my sahib, I am your rib.
You’re a reflection of me desperately wanting love, but scared of the many risks that come with it.
Love should have come with an asterisk.
You’re my only weakness causing infectious affection.
It was your personality that spoke volumes to me, showering me with chivalry.
Persistency kept me where I wanted to be.
Let me be the one you need, all you need is faith as tiny as a mustard seed.
Abundantly this love will be an adjustment for you, and me.
If you should have a nightmare just know I will be there.
If you’re hurting and need to cry, I will be the one to wipe your eyes.
For my love only identifies.
I fell in love with you, not for the things you’re able to do.
                  It was simply you…
If you should happen to get laid off work, I will be the one standing in the door.
The only one you brace oneself for.
Your personal landing gear, I am whole heartily sincere.
I will be your rocking chair.
If the time comes and you begin to lose your hair, baby I will be your favorite barber chair your personal concierge.
It was you that introduced your love voodoo.
Only wanting you timeless déjà vu.
You made me love you; you are my lifetime band aid.
Now let me be your brigade, your right hand grenade.
You’re forever nursing aide.
The sharpest in your drawer knife blade.
The one and, only ace of spade your jack of trades.
Equivalent to money your love is symbolic.
A polished rocket you’re extraordinary, and solid.
Biologic process but simply flawless.
If I am getting off topic I might be losing conscious.
Thinking of you makes me forget my surroundings.
My heart starts pounding echo sounding.
I automatic start smiling, it’s simply astounding.
You knew it has always been you.
           It was you.

Blinding Power of Love

He gathers all flowers he sees to show off his romance.
He chops all trees he faces to show off his masculinity.
He gayly spits out a lump of saliva to show off his coolness.
He leaves traces of money wherever he goes to show off his richness.
He sings everyday, every moment to show off his persistency and passion.

But she doesn't stare into his eyes
with admiration nor satisfaction nor true desire.
Her eyes are a pair of story tellers, without a tint of a lier.
They only speak the truth, insulting the man with a harsh glare.

This time, his simple-mindedness carries him away.
His lack of mind demonizes his very heart and bones of his soul,
Snapping at once like a monster, existing as a deleterious being.
He goes mad, killing hundreds, thousands, millions, thirsty for a genuine love,
only waiting for to see a swarm of oozing blood waves gushing in and out of his lungs.

He cannot cope with this madness,
His responsibility he has once established.
At last, he cuts his breath with an undeniable slash with his double edged sword,
chanting a regretful cry out of his body until the silence takes over his surrounding.

After all this time
Dare we go there?
Eventually we have no choice
Unknowingly the decision was made for us
So although I am a little sad this is adieu; until we meet again

Hope you are not disappointed*

Photograph

( after Achebe's remembrance)

We opened our book of remembrance with a
Blissful kola nut from Ogidi, then poured libation
On that same ground that once held our eyes of unity.
Your photograph is that which hung on the wall
of my heart parted by walls of your wisdom and thoughts.
You saw how the moon peeped through the leaves
Uniting our shadows as you loosened your buttons
Showing me the path between two mountains;
Smooth sand of precious stones sparkled on your softness..
You're a gem in the heart of poetry figures of now.
Okigbo was but a zealous fellow of your domain.
Sorrow will be the Joy of tomorrow when Okonkwo
shall return to enquire of those who called him weak.
what makes up the poignancy of your stars?,
what make the radiant cloud relish clement despite
the inclement rain that once betrayed you ?
The most beautiful colour which paint an imminent
memory in my heart are found in the palette of moment
By the imageries in things fall apart and am eased.
if before you get to the soothing roost of opulence,
We'll remember you as a man of the people,
you did never sail through the thickness of reverberated gloom,
We'll not allow the children to fondle sky with fear like
Ikemefuna did through dogged consistency and tugged persistency .
the sweatness of tomorrow shall becomes the sweetness
of today, and the sun and the star shall supply from your thoughts.
When shadow of discouragement overshadow our reflection,
We'll search through the mirror of courage in 'there was a country
and see the encouragement in the image of your vision.
I have counted the stars for Ezeulu without a mistake,
Obi Okonkwo wIll be here with a clattering breeze to flutters his
irrevocable bluster. We will journey East again but this time
With a drum of hands and whistle of mouths to tear down
Awka with a vocable melody of caress, and remind them of
the photograph of your deeds still dangling in our eyes.

Yours Poetically,

The Wooden Floor and the Wet Summer Night

The wooden floor creaked as I lay on it.
My eyes narrowed, slowly, into slits
As I stared at the half-drawn blinds,
As my limbs, lazily
Throbbed with dull persistency
After the long,
Enervating bus journey.

Not much had changed over the years.
The same wooden houses and paddy fields;
Farmers toiling, indefatigably.
Children playing with perpetual felicity.
The village still was as I had known
Six years ago.

The sweet smell of the incense sticks
From the tiny shrine
 In the damp alcove
Filled my little room .
Mingled ,gently with the wooden floor.

Not much had changed over the years.
The same wooden houses and paddy fields;
Farmers toiling, indefatigably.
Children playing with perpetual felicity.
The village still was as I had known
Six years ago.

Like every night, the flautist did come.
Beside the same gnarled tree, he seated himself.
Under the lunar spotlight, he rose
Far beyond the temporal world.
The ineffable melody and its ungodly pulchritude
In esoteric harmony with the quietude
Accompanied the miners
In their lonesome journey
Back home.

Not much had changed over the years.
The village still was as I had known
Six years ago.

Hummingbird hardly heard,
airily, merrily
extraordinarily
effortless floating, near
weightless transparency,
seemingly without the
slightest of care.

Urgent persistency,
terribly panicky,
frenzied and frantic, she's
burning through energy
rapidly, hungrily;
precise machinery
executes there.

Mallard so lazily,
buoyantly floating on
glassy flat waters, he
glides on the surface, and
wanders unhurriedly,
conveying contentment,
trivial feat.

Feet like a bicycle
furious pedaling,
splendidly, swimmingly,
chasing and fishing, he's
hungrily hunting and
ready to eat.

Human Autopilot

It's interesting how a person can move in a steady rhythm without a thought to the matter

How autopilot is as real of a thing to the human person as it is to a plane

How this constant unconscious movement often pulls us thin to the point where we might shatter

And how we don't even realize it's happening as we find ourselves driving along in the wrong lane

It's interesting...

It's interesting how we can watch our feet moving step by step but not register at all that we're walking

How we can clearly see in retrospect all the things we were blind to as we mechanically trudged by

How the mindless persistency of consistency causes us to look at nothing gaulking

And how we can pass by everything and still miss it all without even a try

It's interesting...
