My God, Thank You For Bringing Down My Pride

August 26 Scripture Meditations Based on Obadiah

Key Verse – Obadiah 1:3 The pride of thine heart hath deceived thee, thou that dwellest in the clefts of the rock, whose habitation is high; that saith in his heart, Who shall bring me down to the ground?

MY GOD, THANK YOU FOR BRINGING DOWN MY PRIDE Thank You for bringing down my pride of haughty sufficiency To correct me by Your satisfaction-persistency So that I can stay in Your compassionate proficiency And be content in enjoying Your mercy. Thank You for bringing down my pride of vain arrogance To rebuke me by Your meekness-deliverance So that I can abide in Your nourishing sustenance And be peaceful in claiming Your assistance. Thank You for bringing down my pride of shameful selfishness To humble me by Your sacrifice-completeness So that I can acknowledge Your omnipotent greatness And be confident in trusting Your kindness. Thank You for bringing down my pride of obvious idolatry To discipline me by Your standards in the ministry So that I can march along truth-infantry And be courageous in doing Your will against sin-entry. Thank You for bringing down my pride of hypocritical reaction To cleanse me by Your purging sanctification So that I can strive for Your holiness-anchored function And be teachable in learning from Your instruction. Thank You for bringing down my pride of worldly interest To reprove me by Your divine test So that I can invest in Your eternity’s fullest And be fruitful in working for Your honour, always the best. Thank You for bringing down my pride of disobedient tenacity To mold me by Your loving authority So that I can yield to Your guiding sovereignty And be blessed in praising Your Deity.
