Best Panther Poems
beautied panther, black as night
through the jungle, prancing
my machete longs to bite
dark and sleek
grand mystique
moonbeams bright, entrancing
beautied panther, steely gaze
long, I've watched you stalking
thru the twilight's violet haze
birthed to slay
sweet, the prey
joined, our souls keep talking
beautied panther, have you seen
the maid that walks the reefs?
much as you she strolls between
the dimming light
and growing night
through shadows close as thieves
beautied panther, jungle shores
now scorched with fanning fires
she strips bare, this carnal core
on cooling sands
her flesh demands
like yours, night's dark desires
beautied panther, myst’ries seen
tho’ far too deep to name
within her eyes of absinthe green
two stripes of gold
like yours, truth told
you are but ONE, the same ...
(now I've become your game)
beautied panther, plunging deep
the gloaming's limpid pool
I follow you to rapture's keep
you change to her
soft skin, from fur
we dive down, dark and cool ...
the panther - and her fool.

* Inspired by Lucius Shepard’s short story “The Jaguar Hunter” *
Hush hush busy muskrat;
all you bucktoothed beavers
gnaw on unheard, work you unseen.
The sleek panther is stalking
slipping silently through the feathergrass
an angel of hunger is in its eyes.
You timid rabbit and fawn, be gone!
That creeping killer can stalk the wind
it smells your breath,
the faint odor of death
is already upon it.
Quick you nibblers, you green grazers
Your time comes ever nearer -
flee now, be gone!
Silent, hidden lurking
In the quiet, empty spaces
Floating, ancient Insect;
Turning droplet hazy. . .
Moving, breathing knowing
Another feline faces---
Hunger, further paw marks
Corners there to brace me.
Climb up to a tree.
Jump, tear, and tether.
Hold-fast, breathing, eating.
Reaping other meanings. . .
Stepping; other traces.
Spiders, monkeys, murky. . .
Sniffing, darkness, pausing.
Toying other feelings
Elusive, resting purring.
Other paw marks near me.
Clothed in pristine fur,
Black like midnight in Thailand,
Golden eyes see all.
scathing panther
amidst the lime brush
onyx he stands
black shade betrays
soft stunning silence
yellow eyes stare
eyes yellow jewels
a secret hunter
hungry to feasts
alert purring deep
as he watches red tail hawk
before chaos
you follow my ghost
too late you came to save us
did your children learn?
As the only large cat with a voice I roar from within my solitude
Prowling with swagga and a side of attitude
My voice is wild game's command
Order in the kingdom is my superior demand
Backed clearly by my teeth and claws
They call me Wisdom and I'm here to lay down the law
I stalk the cantelope
Terrorize the antelope
"Why in the world..." you may ask
Feeding my cubs is my task
I roam from Argentina to the African Safari
My name is bigger than the historical Atari
To mankind I am a beast
In my pack I am a leader at the very least
Upon my hunters i seek revenge
Upon these lands I shall avenge
Less fortunate creatures line the shore of the creek
Stir not as this black panther speaks
For I am the most fierce of all
Disobedience shall be their death call
You are a beautiful and totally magnificent creature
You haunt my dreams and set my heart pounding
I want to reach out, Oh how I so long to stroke you
Your eyes they gaze and penetrate deep into me
But I know with you, I must always tread carefully
Moving gently towards you, one small step at a time
Untamed and wild you could so easily tear me apart
Yet your sensual hypnotic gaze it draws me forth
I want to walk so very proudly beside you in your world
I want to understand what sort of existence you lead
What draws you here so silently in the night to me
Yet all is silent and yet shattering as you a small prey indulge
Does it wet your appetite for much larger warmer flesh
Do you want to rip me apart to sate your hungry desires
As your eyes gaze down at me and haunt my very soul
Oh yes you come to me in the dark, the dark deepest night
Come pounce on my bed, be my companion be my friend
Together let us leap and run and roam through your jungle
This night let it be ours, my black sleek panther wild and free
There was a fire in the sky,
The day Tecumseh fell.
No white man could deny,
They would know his cursed spell.
There was thunder in the spirit realm,
That bellowed out a threat.
No holy book or church house hymn,
Could make Crouching Tiger forget.
There was a stillness among the trees,
As time came to a halt.
While his spirit became free,
He vowed revenge for those at fault.
Panther Across The Sky,
Keeper of the sacred serpent.
Held secrets of the ancient cry,
Effigies, prophecies, and observance.
Shooting stars are no coincidence,
They were born to eventually fall.
But the paths they leave are instruments,
To conduce a stormy squall.
Along the New Madrid fault line,
In the year of 1812.
He stomped his foot to undermine,
And sent many a man to their hell.
Backwards ran the mighty Mississippi River,
As the Winged Serpent ripped the earth.
And in New England they felt the quiver,
Of an angry god's girth.
Strength from the Chickamauga,
Wisdom of the Cherokee,
Fire of the Onondaga,
And the magic of the Shawnee.
Like a bundle of twigs bound together,
Roots from the same gnarled oak.
Controls the tides, sky, and weather,
Upon the ground in which he spoke.

Mosiac Black Panther
There is a mosiac black panther caged in my warm breast
Does what's his name even have a clue there's a yearning in my brain I know?
For a long endless time of mine, know what it is that drives him as though
Forward or backward in a long relentless of yearning of quest.
His silent rage had ballooned into an unrealistic unknown unsuppressed
The unperturbed fibers of those stealthy feet that surely walk and go
Over and over my body feels like it's in a prison coming to and fro,
Within these walls it's forever trying to continue to reap with much rest.
All through the day I at times feel him living in my hardened of heart
But as the night sets forth, its becoming to bring his dreams and stars,
And in a hesitant inexorable moment of frenzy it alas awakes:
His violent wrath trembled and hurled upon the steel bars.
His long eternal passion stretches me beyond and sweeps me apart
Then after I lie in subliminal bliss as my whole body skillfully shakes.

written by James Edward Lee Sr.
Have you heard the Panther’s roar?
A sickly sweet odor.
He traps his prey in his paws,
devours them with beastly jaws.
Have you heard the Panther’s roar?
Three torpid days, he’ll snore.
Appetite he can’t sate.
Constant hunger is his fate.
Have you heard the Panther’s roar?
He requires so much more.
Dragon eludes him despite his feat.
He’ll never taste the other white meat.
Temptress myrrh, lips cherry liqueur,
slinky stir, pulsing panther purr,
femme fatale’s flirt dangerous tease,
wild-cat style pounce you to your knees!
Sinuous, sensual gyrate,
animal allure consummate,
delicious grin, deadly as sin,
inside-out she will spin your skin.
Prowling, growling and soft meow,
feline finesse, enchantress know-how...
tie you in knots, lie you a mess,
panther purr in little black dress.

HE OFFENDS THEM
AND RUNAWAY
FORGETTING HIS FOOTPATH
ARE ITS TRACES
PATH THE WAY CHASES
DESPITE ITS FASTNESS AND SPEED
HE WAS LATER COUNTERED
HE QUITE CONCEEDS HIMSELF
KNOWING HE HAS OPEN PANDORA BOX
CAUSING A PANICKY SCENARIO
FORGOTTEN HE POSSESSES SPOTS
FOR THEY ARE ALSO TRACES
WHICH REVEAL HIM AMONGST ALL
HE WAS CALLED TO HALT
HE FOUGHT GALLANTLY
WITH ITS STRONGNESS AND AGILITY
TO OVERWHELM WHOLE
KNOWN AND PROVED NULLED
WHILE TRYING ESCAPING AGAIN
THE DAWN HAS CAST ABOUT
HE WAS CAUGHT PANTING
AND THEN NAPPING…
