AP: Honorable Mention 2021
Sometimes life's a competition of how far we can throw,
Or simply having the greatest mind to win an intelligence show.
Certainly, there is still one thing to know,
Even the toughest or smartest of man contains a piece of his heart that is soft as dough.
The variety of flavors and sizes we come in are wide and plentiful.
Underneath our regenerating skin is one pretty tough skull,
As we are all created from a genetic code that was once considered a solid whole.
Now remember each and every one of us contains a different life goal,
And even the craziest of extremes can seem like someone else's version of dull.
Even if we are children for the first time learning the ABC's,
Or possibly someone who has spent a lifetime beating up their knees.
Somewhere there is an expert teaching the up and coming rookies,
As the fact will always remain that we are all just a bunch of tough cookies.

With trepidation, a card from the Seer's deck, she drew
In hopes she get some insight on what she should do
Decipher why she attracts men that are afraid to commit
Continue to work two jobs, if not, then which to omit?
She flipped over a card and was overjoyed to see 'The Sun'
Predicting good health, happiness, love, vitality...all rolled into one
She cleared her mind and prepared to have her fortune read
Promising herself to take in stride everything the physic said.

Make that appointment with your financial advisor to avoid red tape
All the hard work you put into your job is noticed by many
Your a natural in your field and your rewards will be plenty.
People are drawn to you because you always see the bright side
Radiate who you are and what you stand for, don't hold it inside

In love, relationships will reach new levels of connection, harmony and bliss

Tarot card ~ 'The Sun'
How ireful the noise of days’ lecture
Endlessly testing my patience bare—
And as I watch corollas of early moon
Flicker under an obscure skyline ;
I linger on to await the eerie frenzy
On a congested Highway 106:
The small dipper winks kindly
Where a certain piousness flows
Against the growls of angry horns--
That somehow, I begin to launder
My habitual ramblings and change them
Into one light of stillness --to savor
Breath’s rhythmic, free-flowing movement
When duskfall gifts me tolerance.

(A poetic representation of this world unfolding before a child as he grows up to adolescence)
He stood on a hill,
And saw a picture,
A silent stare at the universe,
Meaning without a description.
It hung by a branch,
Too weak to live,
The picture was of a child,
Represented by “force of will”.
An absurd birth,
The peace of wild things,
An uneasy existence,
And an an anxiety of seen things.
A slow rapture,
The sudden unbecoming,
Wonder and the magic,
And truth, that is forgiving.
The first instincts of animal,
Devoured by envy,
A dog killing a dog,
Ah! Such freedom for jealousy.
The red in our body,
The white in our souls,
And colourless love,
Forgotten but extolled.
Genuinity of our emotions,
Thoughts and reflections,
A circle of understanding,
A prism of actions.
The fascinating possibilities,
The pages drawn with wisdom,
The frightening limits,
And the boundaries of freedom.
Such remarkable coincidences,
Such abundance of peace,
Diversity of similar faces,
Such abundance of greed.
A weak thread,
Binding us all,
We are one and many,
The strongest knot.
The universe included,
And everyone’s dreams,
The revelations from that picture,
The flashes from within.
He stood on that hill,
And the glory became his,
The contrasts of creation,
But will he dare to live?
I decline to be of sad world.
I refuse to live inside tears.
I choose to hold life as precious and dear.
Though my words may often reflect depression deep within,
I never neglect joy’s right to take hold of me again.
An outlook on life varies from person to person
Various aspects do count
Your ideology
Your experience
Your view
Your emotional quotient
Your intelligent quotient
Your conscience
Your confidence
Your perseverance
Your perception
And lastly maybe the influence of a religion
But there's no rights or wrongs
No perfection
No flawless guidelines
And so we lead a different life
With different consequences and endings
And so we're so eager to find
Any voices from heaven
Any signs from heaven
With our eyes, our hearts and our souls
As I pick up where I left off from the Intro
I bring you the Outlook as I peer through relationships like a window
The chance of seeing real love is narrow
It seems Cupid doesn't know where to aim his arrow
Cupid my Cupid
How could you be so stupid
The way girls treat boys
Like toys
The way boys treat girls
Like squirrels
Got them going nuts
Teens and adolescence in love?
You must be nuts
Ages 13-19 is filled with lust
Their conscience still underveloped
They don't know who to trust
20s-30s
That age group can slide
Because at some point they have a hunch about what they want inside
That's the flagship age to get married
Couple says vows
Bride gets carried
These days it seems no one wants to be single
Once you pop you can't stop
Sex is like Pringles
I guess it's ok
As long as its safe
If you're in love with your partner don't let the feelings be fake
Children wait until you're older to get under those covers
And if your hormones rage out of control shake hands with a rubber (condom)
Most teen girls hate the feeling of latex
Then goo goo ga ga
The babies are born next
I'm just calling it how I see
Relationship game is dirty so I'll be the referee
All of a sudden the world is in love
My God it's sickening
As i write this my pulse is quickening
Now now some couples really do love
Til Death Do They Part
To the world above
I just think the word "love" is greatly misused
The Constitution of Love
So often abused
Our society thinks it's amusing
Fifteen year old in love?
Doesn't it sound confusing
Maybe it don't to you
But it does to me
They are wasting emotions
Unrenewable energy
It's a shame
Love is no game
It's more like a lion
Waiting to be tame
From what I observed couples aren't the same
Whether the pair is nameless
Or enshrouded with fame
Real love is too far up
Way above our aim
I'm in my right mind
I'm definetly sane
That's why everyone is hurting
Because love is pain
I'm still researching
My mind is my reference book

Singapore
the muscles in your forehead
control your eyebrows
and your outlook
so just know to look beyond your brow
if you know how !
when I last looked
snow sprawled in
like an embrace from a foreign world
outdoor walk suspended
by squabbles of sleeted wet
unappealing chords
of ice pellets that stand hair on edge
to coat a hatless head in splinters
force that shapes a winter's pace
implanted temper
abrasions
in tracks of snow
as February squeezes into loins
an ache
my icy fingers
trace the window, vaporized
a shield of separation
a pledge of freedom re-booted
like green paths rising
a shifting focus
till March tramps into place
month of mis-rule
ornamental promise
that a turnstile world
clangs change
when I next look
to turn the page
Poem written February 23, 2023
Prices rising: the reality of this plunging economy,
thriftiness and frugality are greatly demanded
in order to survive, and having less to spend
is a deterrent to those once-easily-obtainable luxuries;
I have become very frugal, to buy more for less,
and waste of food is not allowed to incur scarcity...
I squandered my money on items laying in unopened boxes,
never displayed: I could have saved those dollars,
and not put on a grim outlook as dispirited as this;
so embittered and hard-to-get-used-to, and yet hopeful that
the New York's Stock Market will improve, by the bell's sound,
bringing stability to the Nation and the optimist's mind...
The extended warranty on my Honda has run out,
and repairs must wait...back on jammed buses and trains,
standing up and putting up with noisy and naughty kids;
my savings account is running dry and worries amount,
repression or recession are bad news for an honest working man:
no planned vacations, and no expensive gifts for that matter...
Here, in the United States, Mega Millions and Lotto promise to make people millionaires,
but every winner has deprived himself of many needed things
before striking it rich, and with tons of money: how will one handle it wisely?
For now, this fate remains unchanged...following the same routine:
getting up and going to work, just being normal and making ends meet;
being thankful to have a job to ease up this grim outlook: not awfully dull and daffy...
