Best No Rhyme Poems
Where is the rhyme; where is the reason
Discrimination takes many forms
Cultural differences enrich us
Why should others conform to our norms
Religion’s often the cause of wars
Each should be free to worship their way
Where is the rhyme; where is the reason
Judge others not by the way they pray
Red, yellow, black, brown colors of skin
All of us have hearts, feelings and souls
Where is the rhyme; where is the reason
When racial barriers hinder goals
Politicians cast public needs aside
Point fingers with charges of treason
Independent thinking is needed
Where is the rhyme; where is the reason
What am I without someone like you
Someone to say I love you to
You gave me nothing more than a maybe
You are the one I want to call my baby
Our love is written black on white
You stole my heart in broad daylight
You set my soul on fire
You are the one I admire
I look at you once in a while
I have to take a peek at that beautiful smile
You are filled with beauty
To keep you satisfied is my duty
You are always welcome in my arms
In my heart you set of fire alarms
Calling you mine is in my desire
You give me the power to never retire
My soul will scream
Yelling out you are my dream
We are both battling fear
No one knows what we are still doing here
I want you to be mine
I want us to be together like twine
Maybe we are more than chemistry
Together we could make more than world history
Your heart is exquisite
So extraordinary I have found no rhyme
No rhyme or reason, this prolific verse
Comes flooding forth, least none can be explained
By blows to head, nor tumor sprouted, worse,
No courses in linguistics entertained.
Commencing with a rather simple dare
To cut the snark, to soften it with rhyme,
Yet in the midst, longing discovered there,
With lilting phrase, to scale the sweet sublime.
The recent shift in target audience,
to Bible tales for precious progeny,
Left higher forms arrested in suspense,
And made it crystal clear for eyes to see;
Though unbeknownst, forsythian sprang the muse,
Of late, I fear I channel Doctor Seuss.
----------
I think this was one of my first, back in '15 or so... At this point, I have no idea where 'forsythian' comes from, other than it is a prolific, flowering plant possessed of the proper number of syllables, lol.
Please read this and think of where there would be
A rhyme
Bless the confessed embodiment of angles on earth
Hear them sing with voices of pure harmony
Embrace there presence with reverie and humble yourself
Look through the many faces of deceit and mistrust
Regain what peace you find when playing your favorite game
Don’t miscalculate worth with earthbound joys
Love those with you and those who where
Balance your evils with your check book of good
You will never have me again
I trusted when you held me
I felt connected when looking into your eyes.
There are some things that should never be
all thoses tears fall from the lies.
You will have to live with what you did
if the bones in you care for me at all
my heart was priority I thought
but you made me a joke afterall
Everything I believed in you was a lie
fighting is what you thrive from
my love was never to be alive
as I was clawing up from the bottom
I hate you.
You have made me see who you are
weak inside a tree of a shell
never to defend me, or love me out loud
a ghost, a secret and shadow is all I was
betrayal was all I found
my life with you of mistrust
I am done with you.
I've never before felt
like half of a whole,
but I'm joyously half of us now.
It's not that I've diminished by half.
You grow me,
and now I'm half more.
The whole day spent
With broken clouds
No taste nor colour
A boat drifting on
For aeons and aeons
Inside the moment
Resides what not
Red bitter warm
Soft flute green
But the orange has left
In the boat so
No radar no rhyme

Not for Contest
So - you’ve written a poem you say, after reading mine,
Not so easy - is it?
- oh! You’ve written yours in rhyme.
Um! that forms considered just a bit old fashioned now
Ah!- you’ve let your feelings enter in - oh no! -
let me show you how.
You choose an obscure, abstract theme,
one few out there will understand:
say the philosophy of Kant
or a few lines from the Koran.
Never set a rhythmic flow,
make sure the words collide.
Avoid the telling metaphor
or anything personified,
That’s much much too clear - they might understand.
You have to be original you know,
more intellectual and abstruse
Toss in a foreign phrases or two
that usually cooks their goose.
Try to split the meter up
- alter the length of lines
shape your poem like a pyramid,
or some other symbolic sign.
Never tell them what it means!
There’s sure to be a Judas goat
who wants to appear intelligent
Remember the Emperor’s invisible coat!
There is no rhyme or reason
Why that day you had to die
It was that cold winter season
When you got your wings to fly
You are up high where the Angels live
Where passed loved ones have flown before you
Though you still had much love to give
You left me alone and feeling blue
Missing you more as each day passes
Time not easing this grief
I now see through eyes covered with dark glasses
Will my heart ever find relief
No rhyme or reason just jotting words down
could I put them together for a thought profound
Sometimes it all comes together
sometimes not
Read and read them over
nothing close to plot
Crumple the paper toss in the trash
think it over possible to rehash
Out of the trash smooth to read
wrinkled words mocking me
Then eureka how could I not see
just let them flow and speak to me
No rhyme or reason does it need to be
just random thoughts flow into poetry.
For I have not anything of any worth if what you desire is to rule the earth.
I have no blood I’m prepared to spill for your quest of evil, I shall do no kill.
I have no time of precious life to lend to your madness for gun and knife.
I have no rhyme, I have no song to write for you and for what you’ve become.
When I hold a door open for a woman;
Doesn't mean I love her;
It's just a polite/righteous thing to do;
If I let you go in front of me in line;
doesn't replicate anything thing out of time;
No rhythm no rhyme;
Just a polite/righteous thing to do;
Won't you try it be a blessing, be true!
There's no rhyme nor reason to be polite in any season
There is no rhyme or reason to what is happening in the Zodiac.
I understand the confusion, having orchestrated the flex myself
Many astrological signs are irritated and consternated, annoyed even.
They are not air signs, so do not understand the full beauty
Of shaking things, up and dancing naked in the moon for no reason
There is a levity waking up the cancers, who are the most irritated
Leos try to take over, wanting things to be changed their way
Virgos are horrified, being ardent rule-followers
Taurus tries to bully everyone, which makes the Aquarians laugh.
Other signs come by to visit but do not stay, being more passive and fearful.
“no rhyme nor reason”
a backwards formed limerick game
melons and lemons
lemons and melons
though they don’t taste the same
if you’re dyslexic they are by name
Free me from this bold transgression,
Random words without expression.
No clear thought from them unfolding,
I’d rather listen to a scolding.
My plead is this, if not profound,
Please mute thy instrument of its sound.
For better yet it’d surely be,
If some message the reader could not see.
Please add some rhyme, or at least a rhythm,
Expound on something, begin with a given.
They say that the wind as it rustles the trees,
It’s only a wind ‘til one calls it a breeze.
Chaos will come with no rhyme or reason,
To thy own words be true, no need for treason.
