Best Nightfall Poems

Nightfall
I saw fingers severed
with comically large scissors
and heads near severed
with an even larger pair,
or crimped stubbornly halfway.

I contemplated with some hurt
what I might have thought
to be my earliest loss,
and thrust myself headlong
into my first descent.

The darkest car I’d ever not seen...

Eventide’s splendorous motifs on blazing arc rise
Tinting golden horizon of glinting vermillion skies
Where setting sun inflames decaying gilded rays
As twilight glistens graying eve’s yellowing haze

And pewter winds rustle leaves, lilting meadows
Swaying hills of trees in rhythms of tilting shadows
Where bidding the day goodbye birds hastily...

The blanket of darkness lays across the hills
As night settles in and wind stops, it stills
Not a tree moves, as silence consumes
Seeping through walls, into empty rooms
Worn thoughts are left at the end of the day
From taking many turns along the way
Just trying to get...

Premium Member Think of Me Come Nightfall
Think of me as the eyes of late nightfall
crawling through a wafting sill
where lone moon cuddles dimmed glow
before she quietly slowly lays
herself on a cradle of clouds
as whistle of barn owl and incantations groans.

When dusk explodes into ash
upon fairways that lap,
think of me
mysteriously walking on...

How quickly the earth forgets
all that the sun has said today
As daylight bows out gracefully

Nightfall
Shadows cross my doorway
Silence fills my soul
I smile at the coming of my friend
For darkness brings the quiet
Then peace at last begins
So, I wait
I wait for my friend...

Another Day Before Nightfall
Pen to paper
So no tears today
Monday back to slavery
I cast my out my lline
Hoping for a bite from a female fish
Do you not see what is meant by love ?
Do you not see what is meant by peace?
Shalom is where its at, friends...

It is now dark and under the dome
there are hands moving
inside a home

Notes of angelic sound
circulate the air
wandering beyond walls
flying into the city
making countless calls

Creators of footsteps below the full pearl
tread in the alleys
hearing musical melodies shout out for them to hark
their hearts dance to...

Up so high all the fireflies fly
Look at them! Look at them all!

Birds and crickets are chirping in unison

Nightfall
Amethyst twilight
melds with sunset's gold.
Moon, a lustrous pearl,
glowing diamond stars
Celestial beauty ~
Bejeweled night sky.

Celtic Nightfall
On the crest of the sky
Where blue Irish mountains lye
Lightning strikes and greenery starts to die
Through thick, misty clouds like those from dry ice
The full moon peaks through, ideal for a pagan sacrifice

Through the mountains you walk further
And you hear from the water an unsettling...

Nightfall
Was it at the close of wakeful light
  Rough cutting field and town,
  The dark blade-cleaving deep,
  Eyebrow sharp and scything down,
  The landscape hacked to sleep.

And if it were my dreamless sight
  Of...

Evening strolls on ruby beams

Fixing sights on skyline mauve,

Birds are singing joyous hymn

Breezing thrill of lilting trees,

Dusk is hosting lilac dreams

Blushing face of whirling winds;

Blessing night, moon is smiling.

Whenever life gets too hard and you feel like falling apart,
seek shelter in my arms,
find comfort in my heart,
and when night falls,
I'll sit with you in the dark,
and we'll make friends with the moon and the stars.

And when the sun finally rises and...

Dusk
Dusk

As the dusk summons twilight,
The sky deepens its colors.
It gathers the quiet as it demands an audience.

Transparently slow and thickening light,
Sends out a scented chill, so slight, and at will,
While the land below prepares for its darkness.

It's colors of golden, red, brown and yellow,
Submerge together...
