Premium Member 12-31-23: A Number's Existential Crisis

'Twas the twilight of the year
     a twinkling tiara.
December 31st, digits dancing dunes
     in the Sahara.
One, two, three, one, two, three,
     it's a prance.
A numerical Irish step dance
     given a whimsical chance.

In the calendar's corners,
      a magical mystery unfurls.
As the date spins and swirls
     like a jester's jingling twirls.
One, two, three, one, two, three,
     in a line.
A date so divine,
     it deserves its own shrine
          so fine!

But wait, what's this? A satirical twist!
The date's just a number
     it doesn't exist!
One, two, three, one, two, three,
     what's the fuss?
Wait… all dates are human-
     created
          YES, by us!

The numbers are shocked
     feeling quite superfluous.
In the grand scheme of things
     oh so ridiculous!

So here's to the New Year
     let's raise a toast.
To the date that we've come
     to boast the most.
With champagne that sparkles
     and tastes like the sun.
2023 is yet undone
     run from the old
          to the new one,
               run, run, run!

In the canon of the digits
     a lesson we see.
Time is a construct
     as fluid as the sea.
So let's celebrate the moments
     both big and small.
For, in the end
     they're the most
          precious of all.

Premium Member My Tricycle -

~My Tricycle~

Christmas eve,
I could not help but peek.

There it was, a blue and pinkish bike.
With streamers all for me...

A ride, I wanted to feel inside.
A surprise, I ruined for my eyes.
The joy I felt, a naughty kid like me could not hide.

Running back into my room, jumping with glee.

Waiting and waiting...............................................

Christmas day, comes to life.
I'm all excited.. With the biggest grin...
Mommy walks me to my bike.
My grin slowly fades away.
A red tricycle, I start to cry.

I did not understand, why my older sister got the pretty bike.
My Christmas, ruined by a ruby red tricycle.

Mommies, hug did not comfort me.
I cried all night, and asked my daddy'
"How can this be?"
"It's not fair!"
"it's not fair!"

Daddy, had only one response..
"Sweetie, soon you will see."

New Years Eve**

I sit near the windowpane.
Staring at my sister ride her blue pinkish bike.
Even the streamers were laughing at me.

Night fall comes around..
It's cold and everyone is asleep.

I sneak my way into the barn.
I stare at it~
My sisters bike!
The smile on my face, I still can't erase.
"This bike will be mine tonight."

I grab the bike by the handles bars.
I walk the bike under the stars.

Two hours pass, and still I can't operate the pedals.
Finally I remove my shoes, and reach the pedals with my toes.
I'm off into the night, than suddenly I fell upon them rocks.
If only I waited for that push from daddy's hands.

My scars all accounted for.

New Years Resolution

Love more, when it is hardest to love.
Show compassion, always.
Be kind when deserved or not.
Be patient, when you are at the end of your rope.
Smile, when you are saddest.
Pray when you are at your lowest.
Thank God when you are at your highest.

New Year Media Noche - the Retourne

More than the grand fireworks display,
above chart-topper music blast;
What is the highlight of this night -
The Media Noche, New Year’s toast.

Above chart-topper music blast,
stay still awhile, to breathe our thanks;
A farewell to the year that was
and welcome one - now upon us.

What is the highlight of this night -
Carousing, whole night rejoicing?
Babe year pushing rudely the old,
at street parties ruled by one clan?

The Media Noche, New Year’s toast -
Grounding to roots, a youngster’s boast.
Each morsel chew, each laugh renews,
one's world-weary bones and sinew.

Premium Member My New Years Resolution

My New Years resolution is not to make any more New Years resolutions!
I've made 'em in the past but they died on the craggy shoals of the Aleutians!
I'd swear to ease up on the vittles but I caught those scales lyin' to me.
I tried to curb my cussin' by usin' terms like gosh, darn and golly gee!

I resolved to be more courteous to other drivers and not flex my middle digit,
And be more patient with my kids when they wanted to squirm and fidget!
I vowed to take my dentist's advice and floss my choppers each and every day.
I flossed religiously but lost my religion leavin' my teeth prone to decay!

I promised myself that I'd exercise regularly in order to keep fit and trim,
But preferred lollin' in my LazyBoy with a beer sans goin' to the gym!
'Tis obvious when it comes to keepin' resolutions I ain't got much fortitude,
So I reckon I'll take my chances and not lock-in on any inane platitude!

Premium Member The Fallen Leaves of New Years

Golden are finite grains of sand, running smoothly through
The hour glass of time, tiny precious moments of reflections
Treasured gems, captured in thoughts of the shifting pages,
Of the ever turning calendar months.
Against the frosted goblet of remembrance, lie champagne
Lipstick kisses, impressions left overs of smudges residue
Of love's betrayal.
Celebrations bursting bubbles of memory, turning into frothy foam,
That slides downwards, off the empty bottle of regrets broken vows,
Of the New Year's promises sensed past.
A clicking symphony of tiffany tears, shed upon the satin pillow shams,
Dried are the rose petals of passion, cold embers burn within the
Hearth of the tender heart.
Bold is the youthful yearling, whom stands upon the Oedipus of
Emergence, strong is the inner being, a blossoms flower yielding,
Yearning to sprout, to feel the warmth of the sun's loving grace,
Yet banished beneath the weight of truth's injustice at the end.
But in hopes faith it grows, lighting up the box window pane of reality,
Climbing upwards towards the heaven's enlightenment of
Tomorrow.
Ripple do the waves of the timeless, one more waltz to dance,
Another romance to enhance with their devotional trance, a
Lingering flickering flame moves across the ocean of the broken
Hearted lover, who listens only to the music’s rheum.
Oh in desires high pitch moment of consequence does not
The innocent victim lie slain, at the footsteps of lusts threshold
Of adulthood, evergreen is the tree of the New Year, and
Loneienesses vines, creep along the life lines of the
Devotional heart.

Premium Member T'Was the Night After New Years

(True story...!!)
                                   ~
T'was the night after New Years, and all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings and tree stored away with a sigh,
Finished the eggnog, and the last piece of pie.
Me in my nightie, while Pa fed the cat
We had just let the dog out, and said, "Goodnight, dear, that's a wrap!"
Then we both settled down for a long winter's nap

When the phone by the bedside, cracked the silence with a clatter!
And I awoke in a daze to see what was the matter!
Neighbor Dan on the phone.....he needed some help!
I laughed when he told me, in spite of myself!
A cow's in his pool, so chubby and plump!!
He needed some help to haul out it's big rump!

Rushing over,...to my wondering eyes should appear
There's Old Bessie in water, her eyes full of fear!
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof,
Old Bessie was frightened, she had made a big goof!

Friends ran to the rescue, and went straight to work...
Taking care that poor Bessie wouldn't get hurt.
They put heads together and laid out a plan,
Getting ropes 'round Old Bessie as fast as they can.
Tied the ropes to Dan's truck, then gave him a whistle
And up came Old Bessie like the down of a thistle!
She shook from the cold like a bowlful of jelly,
So they patted and prodded, till she rolled on her belly.
Then off ran the cow, with relief and so merry,
Her cheeks a bit frozen, her nose like a cherry!

We were offered hot chocolate to warm up again,
Four o'clock in the morning, and it was time to turn in!
Our neighbor called out, as we got out of sight,
"Have a good year and thank you!! And to all a good night!"

New Years Revolution

New Years Resolution?
Heck no, I don't care

Making time to suffer
I see no reason there

Eat a little less
lose the sugar and the salt

Eat a good dinner
that's what i was taught

Try to get some exercise
maybe lose some weight

Really, I have no problem
with my plus size waist

Slow down with your drinking
it's really not that cool

How do I have a real good time
if I don't act a fool

Stop that crazy driving
cut down on the road rage

If they don't want to drive
they better get out of my way

You need to stop smoking
it's bad for your health

You need to stop talking
and worry about yourself

Premium Member New Years Eve

Tis here, the eve of one day less
Of sorrow lost and hope reborn
If will brings us closer to our best
What reasons leave us cause to mourn?

From dust we pass and sweep aside
Its wake to crest in history's courts
Our fate, at hand, to be un-denied
Trim sails that wind for peaceful ports

No wishful thoughts add moments more
Nor take hours away paid to the past
As tides cast sand upon the shore
So time decrees the grains that last

     May our imperfections drift away
On this the eve of New Years day

     Happy New Year

Be my friend
Walk with me when I am walking
Sit with me when I am sitting
Hug me when I need a hug
Talk with me when I need someone to talk to

Ignore me when I am angry
Hold me when I am crying
Be there through my sorrows
Help me carry the load when I am struggling

Be there when I need someone
Help me to move on with my life
Be the one person who never judges me
Show me how to be a better person

Most of all love me for who I am
With all my faults
Also the good parts as well
Just be the person you are
My beloved
My Friend

Premium Member Don'T Hug and Drive

On this eve before New Years I resolved to be cheerful
But while driving my car, another car bumped me
The driver got out, and he gave me an ear full!
It took but a moment, and I knew he was beer filled!
Disgusted and angry, I found myself grumpy
I called the police, and they came to the crash
So I cheered up, and resolved, and expressed my relief
So happy, I hugged them and offered a kiss
Well they thought ME imbibed!!!
So they took me inside
And into a jail cell...I was thrown like a flash
My mood isn't good...I'm as mad as a hen!!
My great resolution has faded again!
How can this girl be happy,
When justice kidnaps me?
I'm spending my New Year's locked up in the pen!!

                                     ~

New Year Changes

New Years Day
Is a time for change
People change for the better
Some don't change at all
Most don't follow through
My New Years resolution
Is to not fall
Into the endless pit
Of abandonment
And follow through
With my New Years resolution

       New year, new goal.
       Laughter,
       a goal that provides
       many benefits.
       A wellness challenge.

       It makes the brain
       swim in dopamine.
       Is mood-lifting
       and removes stress.
       Increases metabolism,
       and burns my calorie consumption
                                   (I love chocolate)
       Stronger abdominal muscles
       and a well-shaped butt
       The face becomes softer
       - highlights the glow in the skin
       All this without plastic surgery
       - Goal's outcome
                               - a win-win situation.

Back Then

New Years eve gave warmth even in the winds chill.
Young lovers with open arms.
And a wreckless passion so very eager to fulfill.

So blessed to live tonight no need to draw a line.
Kisses tasting sweatier flavored by whisky champagne and wine.

Counting down the seconds down till the next year.
A moment of pure bliss.
I love you seem's to be all your heart needs to hear.

We live.
We learn.
We love we yern.

For that which cannot be held in hand.
You can ask my dear but you can never command.

Don't question for we have moments in time that shall never change.
that is perfection beyond the the life that appears so very strange.

Back then can never be now.
I'd move past her memorie.
If only someone could tell me how.

The Oath

As I sit on the stand and raise my right
hand and swear to tell the whole truth.

I look at the man that raised his right hand
and made me suffer through all the abuse.

As I tell everyone what he has done,
his face turns red and I wish he were dead
but wishes don't always come true.

So as I step down from the stand to become a new man,
the darkness breaks free as the light finds me.

For the first time in year's I have other
tear's, tear's of happiness.

Now I'm free from all the wasted tears and all the
wasted fears, Because new years is a smile away.
