Premium Member Despair Dispelled

Dawn's rays burst through gray clouds
Though evening's bitterness lingers
She struggles to shake free of tear-stained, satin shrouds

Each morning, so much effort just to rise
But lips part to flash a much-needed smile
When she opens the door and ventures outside

A sparrow had nested in her hanging flowers
High-pitch chirps alert the world life has renewed
And gladly does she acknowledge nature's powers

A wee, brown owl is perched upon the sprawling oak
He's forgotten to take refuge as the night receded
Then a tiny tree frog begins his pond-side croak

She sees his motley, textured body and begins to laugh
For nature's creatures have learned to live carefree
As he does daily, the frog hops to board a lily-pad raft

The tension has eased as nature's chorus serenades
Such joy and harmony their songs evoke
She saunters through the woodland, joins their parade

Her heart is now light; she has mastered their technique
Overcome with gratitude, she skips along the path
Knowing that wallowing in sadness is never unique

For the blues will strike again as night covers the land
And she will face her personal demons once again
But for now she revels in these gifts from nature's hand

And to find relief the next morn, she will simply open a door
Step into the refreshing flow of a passing breeze
And find her way to happiness once more

Awaiting Dawn

The heat of today,
Shall vanish, as the day ends;
Coolness shall return.
·
Coolness shall return,
On shoulders of tomorrow:
While night exhales dawn.
·
While night exhales dawn,
Breath on invisible wings;
Discharges fresh air.
·
Discharges fresh air,
The lungs of the forest breathes;
Scorching regions praise.
·
Scorching regions praise,
The arrival of coolness,
Their faith awaits dawn.

Premium Member Did You See Me As I Saw You?

Memories come alive of childhood days gone past
When at day’s end I’d lie in bed, at last
The house was quiet on those moonlit nights
We’d gaze so amazed at the glorious sight
A gigantic ball hanging in mid night blue skies!
Like a Chinese lantern, by invisible strings hung
As noisy crickets sing their shrill song
Fireflies in the garden played hide and go seek
While little girls and boys found it hard to fall asleep
Their curious minds filled with questions so deep

I believed truly, that there was a man in the moon
Who in recline like I, would be off to bed soon
Who delayed sleep each night to hear the tired sighs
And share imagined tales of adventures in space
Bringing warm smiles to brighten a little face
Then slowly behind a cloud, he’d peek with one sleepy eye!
When suddenly a brilliant shooting star would whiz on by
Excitement reigned for a while as sleepy eyes roamed the sky
“Man in the moon, today I ask of you-
Did you see me back then as I saw you?"

Until Sunset

The dawn doth come too soon my love
Once more we must be apart
And I shall wait all day for you
To return, and warm my heart

Your beauty beyond comprehension
Seems to glow from within
I sit in hushed contemplation
And wait for the night to begin

So at last you come back to me
Pulling my soul as the tide
It's clear as the freshly washed shingle
Our love, cannot be denied

Then as the night grows old, once more
And draws near, that moment of strife
When it's time for you to leave me again
Sweet Luna, the love of my life

Premium Member Back of the Moon

In a dark night sky, you take your place.
We can see your reflection in the influenced tide.
Why is it you show only one face?
Half of you we see, the other half you hide.

We can see your reflection in the influenced tide.
Moon, you have a side hidden away from view.
Half of you we see, the other half you hide.
Shrouded in darkness, it is the side we call “new”.

Moon, you have a side hidden away from view.
What is on the side we cannot see?
Shrouded in darkness, it is the side we call “new”.
To the earthbound, it is a mystery.

What is on the side we cannot see?
We gaze at varying crescents of you in many ways.
To the earthbound, it is a mystery.
Your full bright sphere we see once in thirty days.

We gaze at varying crescents of you in many ways.
Each passing hour changes your position.
Your full bright sphere we see once in thirty days.
Tales are woven from myth and superstition.

Each passing hour changes your position.
Moon, your origin is something nobody knows.
Tales are woven from myth and superstition.
You are the brightest until the sun shows.

Moon, your origin is something nobody knows.
Why is it you show only one face?
You are the brightest until the sun shows.
In a dark night sky, you take your place.

Premium Member As I Look At the Sky

(Hourglass poem)

I look at the sky and see clouds
Blush and cover sun as they flood
And light grows small as they go by
I watch them as they cross the sky

I see clouds change into weird shapes
Sometimes the sky is a blue grape
But there are times when it turns gray
And that's when the sun fades away

Looking at the sky is quite nice
I'd love to watch it more than twice
As they glow in the night so bright
And count stars in the sky at night

And count stars in the sky at night
As they glow in the night so bright
I'd love to watch it more than twice
Looking at the sky is quite nice

And that's when the sun fades away
But there are times when it turns gray
Sometimes the sky is a blue grape
I see clouds change into weird shapes

I watch them as they cross the sky
And light grows small as they go by
Blush and cover sun as they flood
I look at the sky and see clouds!

Perfect Timing

Hurriedly through the night it came
Blanketing the ground in white
A storm of raging wind and snow
Late one Christmas Eve night

It came to us with little warning
A blizzard of blinding white
While families bowed their heads
Giving thanks for the birth of Christ

The winds did howl like a wolf
And snow drifts halted travel
The dark night was black as pitch
Emergency crews were frazzled

Then as the night gave way to dawn
They found the silver lining
Families snowed in for Christmas
Seemed winter had perfect timing

Ankh Amon - Ra

Ankh Amon - Ra

Morning to the gateway of the sun
Set between lantern sea skies
The magic of those Egyptian eyes
Their incantation has begun
Turning worlds of one
Washes through my mind
Azure beaches in the cloud

Focus zenith hidden in the line
Where night has drawn her time

By the sanctum of the free
Ancient memories
Settle with antediluvian leaves
Pages in their wings
Roll through centuries
Turning worlds of one
Waves mystic in my mind
Azure beaches in the skies

And the keening Earth resounds
Draws their message to the ground

The flights are on their way
Silken veils where lovers pray
Temple pillars shafting from the shade
Tuning worlds of one
Their incantation has begun
Sonic oscillation in my mind
Azure beaches in the sky

Sustaining the passage in the lines
Where night once drew her time

Their flight is on its way
When quiet lovers pray
Shaping temples through the clouds
Dancing constellations to the ground
Between the sun skies sea
The inner sanctum of the free

Turning worlds of one
This incantation has begun

The Night the Moon Fell

The night moon bows to sheer degree
Passing through an arching tree
Branches together shape a breach
Form a portico - it to reach

A precisely finished border
Drifted in natural order
Light bulb sans elongated stem
An hourglass made to diadem

I had been waiting for hours
The night too for its fine flowers
And for the essence each distends
Natural stage the arch portends

Lilac scent and other delights
Often touch on soft breezy nights
Their creation so appeasing
Affect comfortably pleasing

Never to see I must append
When next falls’ moon makes its bend
The trees swell in each later year
Cede consent to natural veer

Never there be a midnight call
The night the moon made this grand fall
Sit out no matter what they say
Watch and smell the revered archway

How T Rabbit Got His Name

Their once lived a bunny in the land of Ozark.
He was clever, cool, and funny. Could even hunt in the dark.

One night while hunting small game, he found a ring made of gold.
The ring made him sing and feel incredibly bold.

His voice got so loud he awoke all of the town.
Naked, the bunny panicked and threw on his mom's gown.

People came from all over just to hear his sweet voice.
Then came a dog named Rover, who had a difference of choice!!

Rover threw a sharp stick into the leg of the rabbit.
The ring fell out his pocket and Rover just had to have it!

He knew the ring is why people liked the Bunny's new sound.
But since it was night the ring couldn't be found.

The people dragged off the bunny and helped his leg heel.
Others surrounded poor Rover, chanting loudly out, "KILL!"

"That's one terrific Rabbit!" Stated the king who was short.
So, the bunny was named "T Rabbit!" In their small Ozark court.

Haikus of the Night

Haikus of the night

brightly stars twinkling
diamonds about the night skies
dead on arrival

reflective presence
as the night begins to fall
half moon pale light bay

a howling lone wolf
search under the full moonlight
mating rendez-vous

Grow

See the sun going down
golden glory sighing lone
time for his existence to be known
for when he leaves the others cry:

O light that shines, don't show then hide
for we are hungry to survive
your golden fingers; Midas touch
leave not solid, but warm and lush
how could our aloe leaves than sooth
If you just come to surely move

Yet the sun keeps slowing thrown
and peers to those who blow their moan
just smiles with eyes of lion sight
and blast his rays with all his might;
his last goodbye before he goes
and whispers to those what they should know:

In the night there's much to fear
of odd creatures and noises *****
but the moon will glow her stories
and luminate her lullabies
so bud your heads and clover in sleep

For in the night you grow
and have the day to sweep

Premium Member As Night Descends - a Rondelet

As night descends
God's paintbrush colours the night sky.
As night descends
purple, pink and violet blends.
An artist's mural floating by.
Beauty to bring tears to the eye,
as night descends.

Sonnet 15

At night the Morning sleeps and Night she is
Wearing a pearl of stars and moon-lit ring
Her quilt spreads through the firmament a quiz
Unquestioned by nocturnal beasts that sing

I wonder what it would be like to dream
Without the beauty of her essence drawn
To ever be a Queen or ever gleam
The diamonds from her darkness after dawn

Nights ornaments are much to fine a view
That our erotic eyes romance and spy
For it would be a crime if no one knew
Her chandeliers that constellate the sky

And be it may I lay on fertile flowers
Gazing her gown that glitters after hours

Three Di-Mentional Firefly In Hcc

A thousand fireflies,
light up the night with torches.
World getting brighter.

Torch
firefly
holds light high
brightens night sky
lit

Phosphorescent light
coming from male abdomen.
Invites passionate glowworms.
Wingless female blinks,
hoping to attract nice male.
Will soon be a thousand more.
