Premium Member Desperate Hope

While gelid breezes of winter, quiver emotions of decaying rays,
And arc of horizon cedes to dusk, evoking grimace of malaise,
Casting shadows tenebrous, shrouding glimmer of a slowing day,
Desperate hope lingers still, in resplendence of autumn’s decay;

Gawking in yonder, where gamboge-orange woodlands fade,
Reminiscing in seasons harkening, realms of love now evade,
Mindful of the broken vows, when grievous calls destiny made,
When forever promises receded, and pledges eternal strayed.

Love now mulls~ if kiss of passion was a subtext of final goodbye?
Was it the last tear of hapless eyes; a bawl of love gone awry?
A silent protest, concealing mindfully, anguish of a forlorn sigh?
Was it the clamor of jilted desires, love enamored chose to decry?

Springs of past summon hope, having risen from wintry throe,
Nights of nightmare cede to dreams in halo of daybreaks aglow,
As candle of love revives hearts, fueled by inspirations of soul,
When whispers of sensuous hints, aspirations of romance cajole.

Desperate hope expounds repentance, vying healing through time,
Unsure if, pleadings in atonement, will redeem future sublime;
Whether love saplings will ever sprout, from ashes of passions bygone,
If dreams forsaken will blossom, in womb of tomorrow’s dawn.

Our October Sky

October sky, the 1st we celebrate, a seasons heart yearned treasured moment,
    Sun rises, new beginnings, Enlightens nature, we seek atonement.

  Dawn lights an autumn’s crisp chill, christening fallen leaves of tomorrow,
    Decorated front porch memories, earthly heritage, smothered sorrow.

  Passes monsoons, thirst quenched foliage, brought on dust storms, summer’s breeze.
     Colors dancing, enchanting harvest, Orange golden glows, on resting trees,

  Cinnamon sneaks by steaming cider, mulls a spiced aroma essence,
     Caramel apple, child’s smile, escapes harvest reminisce.

   A wonder inspired walk, a gentle kick to wisp away,
      Tree’s blessings, fallen life, decorated memories of yesterday.

   Crisp leaves falling, sprinkled mist, dripping dew drops land by chance,
         Hearts pitter pattered warmth speaks, provoking sudden dance.

   Fawns brook side, a mother’s love, protectant father thru seasons dressing,
       Such beauty grace lingers freely, coins free, bestows natures blessing.

   Falls door opens, touched hearts so deeply, awakened sober love outpours,
       God’s mystique he created goodness, for all of us he adores.

    Daylights autumn beauty, followed by nightfall’s tucked in kiss,
        A glowing lullaby, we’re put to bed; our harvests moon we’ve greatly missed.

Premium Member Pondering of a Puddle

Ponded and becalmed after the downpour, lying in shining stillness, I reflect an earthly existence; above me newly leafed limbs, and beyond, the wild beauty of motley skies in the afternoon’s brightening quietude. On the side of a country back road, I daydream. As leftover clouds drift in light and dark moods across my mirrored face, I ponder the possibilities of ‘what ifs’. What if life had taken me elsewhere - to a different time and place, filling another space, in another form and shape? What if I had fallen soft as a summer drizzle instead, dressing spider webs in misty strings of mini crystal beads.. or had filled a rusty-relic watering can, left behind ages ago beside an ivy-smothered stump.. or maybe had been wind-whipped with a vengeance into a swollen river rough and ready to ride the rapids.. What if, I had fallen as snow eons ago and now was found deep in an ice core in Antarctica.. how exotic! Straying cumulus find themselves captured in my imagination as well as in my liquid looking-glass oval, and my thoughts stray back to the soothing smoothness of my present reality. I know my time here, though sweet, is short-lived; and so I set my pondering aside and decide to seize upon the moment with contentment in my tranquil state of repose.

placid puddle mulls
lost in reflections of clouds -
spring rains laid to rest

Book: Radiant Verses: A Journey Through Inspiring Poetry

It Was One of Those Days

It was one of those days…not great!
I went to the mailbox, there to find
A playbill dated September 8.
I could not tell for sure, half blind.
It seemed like a bill for raking the leaves.
Perhaps, written by my second grandson.
Or it could have been for sweeping the eves.
He asked that I pay him for work he had done.
The night before, “Dog” chewed my trifocals.
Shattering my precarious vision.
Fortunately, I found my old bifocals.
It was time; I was about to have some fun!
But first, I must read the chronicles
And finish an ongoing word puzzle.
It is amazing what thoughts the mind mulls:
Pranks for the kid, a muzzle for the dog.
Just three more words until completion,
My doggone pencil broke; life can be funny.
I took out my cell phone and called my grandson.
He laughed when I thanked him a million … in play money!

Villain Unmasked

Villain Unmasked

In odd places the Villain appears,
In the right places he disappears-
On merry moments then re-appears.

For, such is the habit of a Villain
Who enjoys to inflict carnal pain
Yet, scarce and elusive to be slain.

He contorts in a fearsome grimace
Ogling timid children on the face
Their infantile courage to displace.

Crawling like a famished beast,
Beating and flexing scaled breast;
He mulls on how to enjoy the 'feast'.

Where children are happy at play,
Ugly features at once are on display
To throw everyone into disarray;

Face clad on an fearsome hood,
Picks and chases them in the wood
To eat the abandoned Picnic food.

He cast to innocent people a spell
By urinating in the clean water well
Sickness to ring the death knell.

No wonder, he flies on black garb
Wielding the sword or his barb-
Voice, tearing the air with rhubarb!

His throaty laugh is deep, not mild
He groans and growls loud and wild
To shudder man, woman and child.

Between two lovers having sex
Suddenly, he re-appears to perplex
By disturbing, disrupting the reflex!

To the crafty potter kneading hard
He disrupts Industry and its reward
By breaking everything to shard.

Villain and his cruel art of stealth,
Art of disrupting another's wealth
Peace, Happiness and his health;

Art of appearing in places so rare
Schism, fear and confusion to flare
Peace, harmony, stability to scare;

One day he will know that his art
And foible of scare is not so smart-
He will be impaled by a holy heart!

Premium Member Ice On Fire

As in crystal methamphetamine, the mind becomes cold.
Anxiety, paranoia, and schizophrenia
Creep in, like snakes and deathstalker scorpions, uncontrolled
Are bones, veins, flesh, and blood affected by asthenia?

The body begs for calm composure; the moody mind mulls.
Midst fires of optimism, the ice of pessimism melts.
Restlessness and rebelliousness resemble spineless skulls
Vandalism of vindictiveness vitiates vague vents

The feeling of freedom to fly and fervently flutter
Fill and flow flawlessly, like fine floral fluorescence.
Mild melodies of memories musically mutter
Constant conscious conscience has come to be the quintessence.

When the ice of hateful, heinous, hideous hurdles heaps
May passions of compassion flare from the depths of the deeps!

Pleasure primes pain,
Wit wonders why?
Glimpse gutsy gain,
Style sanguine sigh.

Fancy feels faint,
Big blossoms bulge;
***** questions quaint,
Ideas indulge.

Prompt payment plays,
Ask apt award;
Death delays day,
Reap real reward.

Action aids arm,
Buzzy blooms bounce;
Cherry cheeks charm,
Pretty play pounce.

Wanting woos wealth,
Migraine mulls meet;
Hurts hurling health,
Gloomy groans greet.

Desire dreams day,
Big blossoms beam;
Pure passion plays,
Dear dancing dream.

Sense sensuous surge,
Bright bearings boom;
Play plunders purge,
Greet glory gloom.

Bright blooming book.
Charm creams cherry;
Lasting lines look,
Love leaps lovely.

Soar sweet stanza,
Choice charms charade;
Apt agenda,
Poise primes parade.

Grab grouchy gaze,
Loss litters lull;
Doom defers daze,
Moments mimes mull.

Dare describe deuce,
Loose lines lessons;
Meet mindful muse,
Words weave weapons.

Termite Jill

(Dedicated to all booklovers who have lost their loved ones to the scourge of the termite hordes - I did)

I thought I was a bibliophile
and indulged in pedantic boasts
I'd speak of ancient tomes and stuff
revel in Academia's toasts

horror of horrors I discovered
a lover of books beyond compare
who beat me hollow at my game
whose fame and honour I cannot share

the greediest booklover of all
who mulls all words into a hill
I hate to say that to this day
I have never beaten Termite Jill

when ole Termite Jill gets just a sniff
a book or paper placed someplace
she hies herself with fearsome glee
leaving for her ilk a homing trace

and from now on you could search in vain
to try and trace out Termite Jill
In nooks and crannies, desks and shelves
but till her deed's done, you never will

and when she's chewed on till bursting gut
she lets her hungry kin-folk feed
and then when done you can be sure
they'll spawn a more ravenous seed

a million Termite Jills will be born
you cannot add their growing sum
a million more and then some more
a progression ad infinitum

a termite apocalypse  looms anon
spells doom to the literal world
The termite minions move ahead
Jill's dance has the Tandava Twirl

so who now is the bibliophile
who undoubtedly fits the bill
not me the voracious reader
but the rampant, raging Termite Jill

I Should Have Let It Go

I should have let it go,
   theunkind words they spoke
the phrases unjustly, hurtfully said
   but you know me...
My mind thinks and mulls the words
   over and over again.
They churn like whipped shakes and malts
   until they begin to overflow.
Before realized, they spill over
   onto counter tops and make a mess.
Cleanup doesn't serve me well
   as the disliked stickiness is spread
Soon, everyone around sees and knows
   that thing they said  -
I should have let it go,

A River Boat Gambler

With wit and wisdom and a cunning eye...
At the gaming table Naomi goes on a natural high.

She mulls the odds and places her bet...
And she's never been a loser yet.

With nerves of steel and a will to win...
And a reputation she's eager to defend.

A River Boat gambler is the life for her...
And those who know her all concur.

She sits at the table with emotions of steel...
And if there is to be a winner, she will.

So place your bets and enjoy the scene...
Because when Naomi is gambling she's cunning and mean.

Keep art form crisp, keep shades of grey;
Offer to bare, offer to show;
Sense strokes made brisk, sense lines that sway;
Take wear and tear, take tint and glow;
Art lines propose, art sparks appeal;
Bring profound fare, bring passion's flow;
Indulge fond dose, indulge stark feel.

Surreal form flings, surreal art hurls;
Urge moves the dice, urge mulls the case;
Rich purpose rings, rich motive swirls;
Roaring shades spice, roaring tones trace;
Entice wild pain, entice mad touch;
Angst beyond price, angst between space;
Loiter with gain, loiter with much.

Picture the touch, picture the face;
Look beyond shades, look between tints;
Align bold nudge, align stern pace;
Yield image made, yield textured mint;
Blaze blooming bust, blaze brazen boom;
Open mind floods, open heart knows;
Offer sharp thrust, offer pulse room;
Kinder full blood, kinder prime show.

Ideas and plots, ideas and thoughts;
Do grand surprise, do great display;
Etch surreal thought, etch pregnant lot;
Aim blunt reprise, aim canvas stray;
Sign fragrant spot, sign searing slot!
