Listen
Be Still
Whispered words arriving on teardrops of the wind
They call to me
Embracing me so that I may exhale
For a moment in time
I look down to see the child woman curled up on my lap
Quietly dreaming
I stroke her sleep dampened hair and
Caress her cheek gently with my palm
Oh, child of mine
Allow me to reach in and
Cradle your wounded heart
Let me carry your pain and worry
Stirring, she turns her face revealing
A half-eyed sleepy smile
A gift I have treasured for centuries
Remembering the day
I walked through the trees of time
Lime, emerald, forest green, moss, juniper, ochre, and kiwi
Yellow tinged velvet leaves ride silver breezes
Tree people
Miraculous sacred creatures
Birthed of mother nature
Beckon me onward and inward
Towards water’s edge where moving mirrors of
Intellect and mystery await me
I walk with my companion who rides on my shoulder
The white hawk of my dreams
Narrating our passage through space and time
Howl Howl Howl
Stories above me, monkeys wearing fur
Play and swing
Screeching, flying, and tumbling through the air
Reaching sacred river’s edge
I pause and hear silent footsteps
Of the others joining
I gaze at the flowing water
Reflections of the lost ones float by
Faces of those who have passed from this life
I reach out and kiss each one with my fingertips
All of us gather ~ standing and joining hands
Collectively we reach up towards the heavens
We rise as one
Taking a moment to listen and
Receive grace from one another
A glimpse and a grin are shared
As I squeeze the weathered hand
Of my fellow human
Up Up Up Up
We float above the majestic green canopy
A glorious carpet of
Lavender clouds awaits
The day moon and the day sun kiss
As they watch us rise
A moment of gratitude shared by all

I get it now…
it’s not about
momentous events
it’s about
memorable moments
moments that
take your breath away
being in the moment
with your whole being
being at one
with the universe
wherever
that may be

November 6, 2018 Poem of the Day
In endless moments waking
Alone she sits at twilight
to dream of shimmered lace
While staring at the moonlight
reflecting on her face
The winds of change are brewing
through evergreens they call
To question what she’s doing
believing in it all
Her heart begins to travel
with wishes sent a far
As boundaries unravel
to touch the farthest star
She floats on wishes sharing
so soft upon a wing
While in the dark she’s staring
to futures it may bring
She knows it’s disappearing
for night is soon to end
The daylight she is fearing
a morning comes to send
Until the dawn is breaking
her eyes they cast a glow
In endless moments waking
that only she can know
Silent journey
I ride with you O Mother Earth
On the wings of time and space
I feel you cradle me in your arms
Lifting me high above you
To feel the kiss of your wind
..... and the warmth of your sun
A flicker of light and I am
Surfing the tips of your waves
Salty mist fills my nose
My eyelashes sticky with moisture
My heart wide open
Oh joy !
To glide up and down
On your surging tide
To undulate with the motion
Of your sea
To feel the movement of the
Magical water beings below me
Sunlight follows me
Illuminating the foam before me
Twinkling glitter radiating
Centuries of adventure and passion
Lust and loss spread out before me
Ancient battles
Sunken ships
Lost treasures and dreams lay
Below me in the darkened depths
Remembering your light within my heart
A child of eight
Knowing you Mother Earth
Digging in your soil
Smelling the damp dirt
Grasping handfuls
Unearthing small treasures of
Colored glass and painted pottery
Glancing upwards towards the sky
Filled with puffy white cloud dreams
Knowing your spirit and soul
Feeling you entwined with me
In the heavens and stars
Finding you in unexpected ways
Climbing the highest trees
Grasping at thick branches
Hoisting myself up
Beams of light piercing through
Shadows beckoning me higher
My t-shirt soaked with
excited sweat and purpose
Flying my dime-store kite
Out of my bedroom window
Wind taking it up so far
Up.... up...up
Appearing as a migratory bird
Making its way home
Dissolving into a small speck
Until I could see it no more
Painful grooves biting into my fingers
Cutting her loose
She’s free to fly home now
Transcending time
A silent whisper
Imperceptible movement
Pushing upward
Through fertile earth
I slowly unfurl my cloak of greenery
Stretching out my arms
Raising my head upward
I see the beauty of my form
A new seedling with furry lime tendrils
A baby plant on the carpet of the forest
Glancing upward I see my self surrounded
Sacred towering redwood giants gaze down upon me
As sunlight music tickles my soul

Stepping into the dance
Gently taking your hand in mine
Entering the realm of infinite possibilities
Where passion and desire breathe as one
An eternal hug
Enveloping our laughter and tears
Swaying slowly
Your breath tickling my ear
We are guided by our mirrored hearts
Open to the ancient whispers within
Arms open wide in vulnerable flight
Encountering lavender vibrations
Nuances ~ miraculous moments
Distant drumming arrives
From within dense fragrant pines
Carried on silver musical notes
Pale turquoise sky
Brushes against our cheeks
We fill our lungs with moist cool air
Breathing in gratitude
Glorious heights surround us
Crag and gleam of crystal
Midnight ebony obsidian shafts
Gulls cry above
The smell of salty waves beckoning us below
I ride the foam in your welcome embrace
Glistening waves our chauffeur
Diving deeper
Into ocean’s chambers of kaleidoscope blue
Sunrays guide us
Coral’s fingers delight
Wearing mandarin, cranberry and apple green
We laugh as bubbles escape our smiles
Playfully gliding upwards
Our friends arrive
Regal parrot fish
Mosaic rainbow scales shimmering
Calling out to us
A sacred union gathering
Inclusive of all
Silent language is shared
Spellbound destinies of
Beauty and grace
Envelop us

it is

* always and forever with you, sounds so sweet to me *
Not sure what it is
about this land
that grabs you
but I was grabbed
long ago.
Trip ends today,
last night I stayed up late,
sipping remaining whisky
as the red sun set
neath hill's dark shoulders.
Crisp morning
up before six
lake like glass
rustle up the fire
and make coffee.
Rest of camp
sound asleep
so I solo
cast the back bay
release a hammer handle
then troll the north shore
into a freshening wind
nothing.
Move out
to deeper water
perhaps a morning walleye
but the wind’s up,
and the sparkling sun
puts fish down
still nothing.
End of lake
head back
cast the shoreline
snag a bush
retrieve the lure
test line – it snaps.
Retie, change lures,
Tom got a good fish
in these narrows
but today
nothing.
Ignore my watch,
change to a deeper lure
last point, a satisfying tug
good pike – strong fish
open water, use net
she’s mine.
Paddle back to camp
with fresh fillets for home
and memories
of when the lake
and I were one.
Cherry wood accents, glass entombed
precious moments captured, enshrined
antique curio cabinet, bring me back in time
that porcelain doll, great gram's pearl
painted piercing eyes still reflecting her love
thoughts of Mimi, now in heaven above
that vintage mantle clock, octagonal design
all the years sitting on Dad's desk,
can't remember the last time it ticked,
but I still recall the nights watching you hard at work
sitting and pondering over a pile of bills and letters
oh how those days were so much better
there are many different figurines and collector plates
I can't even recall what they are there for
But there is one picture I just can't get past
I often stop and just stare
wishing you were still here
the little playful smile
always lighting up a room when you walked in
those deep caramel eyes, able look past all the smoke and mirrors
deep into someone's soul
oh how I long to hold
oh how I long to feel
oh how I long to be
be one with you again
I sit here alone on these jagged sea washed rocks
the seagulls squawk
picking at left over food scraps
left in the sand
smells from the hot dog vendor up on the pier
fill the salty air
the brisk breeze blows softly like your warm breath in my hair
melting moments frozen in time
a time when we walked this very beach
holding hands and holding hearts
a time when we frolicked in the surf
we'd never be apart
soft kisses and long gazes
into your deep loving soul
long talks and soft touches
love beginning to take hold
I close my eyes and remember
remember a time
a time running my hands through
your soft flowing hazel hair
oh how it made my fears disappear
I remember and now I wish
I wish and I hope we can be one again
Come place your hand upon my beating chest
feel my unspoken words
and let our instincts do the rest
"To The Moon And Back"
Once, in a blue moon, true love comes along
Surpassing all limits...growing so strong...
That each beating heart breathes in, the same song.
I found such a love...the night I met you...
The stars whispered to me, "This love is true!
For you, there is nothing, he would not do."
Each time I asked you to lasso the moon
And take us both there, to sit, while we spoon
Within its crest...in a place you had hewn
Aloft on a cloud...that rope made whack.
We said, "I love you to the moon and back!"
With our hands entwined...this love would not slack.
We loved with our heart and soul...and we knew
Love's Eternal...even when gone from view...
Gazing at the moon, I see...me and you.

Note:
Final verse not entered d/t confines of length:)
Precious moments...are these. I hold them dear
Looking not for stars...when the moon's so near
Your reflection sparkles in every tear.

Just a Little Scribble
~ Simply me ~
Sunday October 25th, 2020- Poem of the Week
~
I saw the moon beyond the mist
its glow this darkened sky, it kissed
Through branches of an old oak tree
as if it waited there for me
So as I gaze upon these skies
awaiting on the sun to rise
I’ll stand here as it’s coming soon
and spend these moments with the moon
~
i have had moments in life
where the vortex becomes silent
those minutes spent in halcyon rapture
away from the maelstrom of hours
when the soul must be refreshed
to pause in the wonder of it all
listen to the soft murmuring sounds
as doves nearby roost
oh i could easily give wings
return to the hurried world
but these minutes as i listen
i know well their place in the order
of life's duties calls
a respite to refresh the soul
with a heaven-sent cooing
and as Emily did note
they asked nothing of me
joyous in the nobody we are
leaving me treasures in song
minutes that make tolerable the hours
more so the width of life, its song
to breathe the breath given to us all
the euphoria in a dove's murmurings

Me
and my
mindfulness.
My present thoughts,
the sounds and feelings;
a sort of deep meditation,
whether standing or sitting down
I am aware of the moment and sounds.
Right now a wild wind is blowing outside,
it is howling and screaming through the trees.
But when it takes a rest there is deep silence,
and a soft murmuring of background noises.
I smell lavender from a candle burning,
there is tranquility within my home.
I like the feel of my work chair,
the satin feel of the wood;
there is a cold draft.
Love this mindful,
day within,
me.
