Notes About The Poem

Mindful of Moments

Me
and my
mindfulness.
My present thoughts,
the sounds and feelings;
a sort of deep meditation,
whether standing or sitting down
I am aware of the moment and sounds.
Right now a wild wind is blowing outside,
it is howling and screaming through the trees.

But when it takes a rest there is deep silence,
and a soft murmuring of background noises.
I smell lavender from a candle burning,
there is tranquility within my home.
I like the feel of my work chair,
the satin feel of the wood;
there is a cold draft. 
Love this mindful,
day within, 
me.

Andrew Fairchild February 16, 2019 at 4:22 PM I like the way that the shape depicts the reflection of Spirit in Matter, just as the top half is spiritual concepts and thoughts -- Fire/Air and the bottom half is emotions and physical things -- Water/Earth. This form is different than a concrete poem, in that a concrete poem takes the shape of the object it describes.
