Premium Member Lonely Leaf In the Water

I watched it fall
In spiralling flight
This browned yellow leaf
A saddened sight

For not long ago
It was alive and so green
In a canopy of cover
Above the stream

I watched it meander
Around rocks and through eddy's
On the stream it continued
Becoming more unsteady

It's protective coating
Now a shadow of it's past
As the water moistens
It's out on it's last

It came to rest
Between two rocks
As the water cascaded
To the bottom it dropped

The end of it's life
But it's journey goes on
For nature will use
This leaf that roamed

                    ---------------------------------------------------

Thrilling and alluring
hazard, affection, zeal, and heat
all the stated above
crimson, as a rose, is a sign of love
at all times evolving
             when planets are aligned
             color doesn't matter
             because true love is blind
unseen for the most break
but only when glimpsed
mutable and undulating
colors are shifting
lasts only long enough
to be outrageous
          love is a colorless mood
          It is a heartfelt emotion
          our eyes grasp everything
          love stems from inclusion.

She hates frilly pink stuff
flavor, spice, everything squeamish
three sons and spouse
she shares blue but shuns others.
once drove a crimson race car.
        young passion, now a yellow SUV.
        easy access and exit.
        deeply anchored, like her life.

Experts called her Autumn,
but what do they gasp?
to me, she’s summer,
colors bright and warm,
        at times a little dusty,
        like a sunlit kitchen.
        so color her something,
        it would just be opal—
a humble stone, but look deeply,
all the colors of the rainbow
explode from its heart.

When I am missing her:
I am just cobalt blue,
with emptiness...
when we are intimate:
I am a royal purple,
with happiness...
      when I am working:
      I am anxiously green,
      with jealously...
      when she is sick:
     I am indigo, with
      hopefulness...

Pleated, flirtatious hair.
release her loose braids.
with freckled cheeks.
She vibrates sweetly.
the furious downpour.
moistens dusty roads.
falling cobalt beads pitter.
rainy beat orchestra.

Premium Member sweet poison, mine -

'I love you' moistens on your lips
          I watch it, breathless, as it drips
               coating, sweet, my foolish heart
     now hopeless in its guileful grips

once I trilled that phrase to you
          so sweetened it was mostly true
               yet now there's bitter aftertaste
     that sourly whispers chilled adieu

how often have I played the game
          and uttered myths, the very same
               fomenting, then, those like replies
     that light the apt and artful flame?

I feign to count them in my head
          those subtle stories told, instead
               of placing faith for righteous love
     and by that honest heart, be led

so now the gambol's back to me
          to deal through cold inclemency
               its keening card, the last guffaw
     and not waste efforts on a plea

you drizzle damp, the lie again
          the ruin of much stronger men
               I swallow thus the poison mine
     to tend my heart its last amen.

I Will Love You More

As we step closer to our final door,
when words succumb to days of restless sleep,
and dance retreats into a stiffened creep,
I wonder, will you love me even more?
For I will answer with my final breath,
that I will love you more on coldest night
as outer beauty dims to inner light
when aging hands entwined do embrace death.

Tis easier to love in summer heat,
while springtime of our love does not yet slip
from thoughts and dew still moistens our warm lips.
Our June days liven blooms beneath our feet!
But autumn days will fade to wintry snow
as surely as my love for you will grow.

A New Day

Her grateful kiss moistens the dawn, raised arms embrace the sun.
A light like fire burns for all time, a new day has begun.
When Sunday morning’s church bell chimed, brisk steps tapped with the song.
Gray walls of stone held prayers within, stained glass cast shadows long.
She stood hunched low prisoned by sin, carved statues froze her feet.
A face of slate hid darkest fears, her path walked in defeat.
A voice of hope from prayer spoke clear, love shined from grace unbound.
With arms held high and knees bent low, soul praised without a sound.
On high, she saw gold haloes glow and wings spanning blue sky.
This Sunday morn behind church doors, to hate she said goodbye.
With love, each new day to explore becomes a welcomed gift.
The world around her is her church, God’s beauty does uplift!
Heavenly song floats from high perch, the birds know all too well
God’s love brought forth a melody from Sunday’s old church bell.
Then when the bells toll solemnly, she’ll rise to a new song;
bell’s chime will call to other souls as new days come along.

Premium Member The Gift of Winter

The Gift Of Winter

When Winter brings old seasons to their ends
      and plans a rest for Spring and Summer trends,
we're eased by lovely scenes that Autumn sends,
     while Winter puts to sleep those retirees

of brittle vines and leafless, naked trees,
     exhausted roots and bulbs, with expertise.
The drab gray scenes will brighten in degrees
     when layered white with spread of pristine snow

that purifies and moistens ground below,
     where life, like 'sleeping beauty', waits to grow.
When Winter has achieved her last plateau,
     she nudges Spring to wake and take the stage.

But while the sleeping ground does not engage
     in life-filled days, our Winter does upstage
with beauty of her wonderland onstage;
     snow-covered limbs and hills of velvet white

that leaves us breathless at their very sight,
     as sunbeams glisten and reflect the light.
This gift she offers as her own delight,
     when Winter brings old seasons to their ends.

Premium Member Stopping for a Coffee on a Morning Walk

Bleak winter Melbourne morning,
a cold wind coming in
from across the Bay
and blowing down the street,
past the Esplanade Cafe
with the smell of coffee
and warm air spilling out
from an open door.

I stop, look at the cake
and pastry display through
the window, the basket
of freshly baked croissants,
Danish pastries topped with
strawberries and apricots
and glazed with syrup.
A cloud of steam
from the espresso machine
adds a touch of the surreal.

Anticipation moistens my mouth
on the sight of French vanilla
slices plump with custard
and cream, muffins erupting
from their papery patties,
Portuguese tarts, thick slices
of carrot cake topped
with icing. I savor each
with an imaginative bite
and decide my treat…
then groan. I've left my wallet
at home.

Premium Member Rain Frogs

Twelve tree frogs sing in loud chorus
on this damp, foggy morn
Their vocal would break the sound barrier
By it nature is torn

Fog caresses the valley
Settles loosely on trees
Exaggerates the silhouettes
Moistens all the leaves

The frogs have removed the silence
Their din walks on nerves
They need another residence
Where they won't be heard

Ship them to another planet
Box them up in damp wrap
Let them start a new settlement
Send them, get them trapped

My prayer for rain was answered
This morn is nice and cool
The frogs loved it also, singing
To God their thanks refueled

For a moment I was ungrateful
The constant din distrubed
Now I am accepting of the sound
Let them sing unpreturbed

The tree frogs or rain frogs came out
in wild excitement last night following the rain..

Premium Member String of Pearls

Written: March 09, 2024

                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's utterly aquiver and ambivalent
With is a glimmer of modesty
His fame stems from promoting peace
But who holds the power to bedraggle?
Let's embrace bel esprit, compassion, and mercy.
There is a path betwixt utterance and ubiquity
where knowledge flows freely
In quiet sternness, it evolves...
It wraps with a meandering debate.
Behold those who wept covertly,
Who wastes these precious tears?
When some dreams come to a halt,
Life endures and perseveres.
Who moistens their life, oh you?
Who bathes, but why won't submerge?
When water drifts away and out...
The monsoon remains never fades away.
 A sacrifice can lead to martyrdom,
They have a way of shaping history
And confronts the dishonesty.
Fostering defiance and optimism,
aim for an idyllic future,
Leave a legacy.
And participate in upheaval.
What purpose does the blood serve?
Is it futile to draw that to a boil?
What's beneficial is the blood?
Is there a way to safeguard the soil?
Everyone raised a voice in reply,
Ahead of us is a fierce opponent
For the sake of the homeland,
We will shed our blood.
In posh perfumed musk
Mysterious essence glows
Be
BE
Be like the rain
that moistens the parch land
and revives the earth
Be like the wind
that blows gently on hot days
and gives comfort
Be like the water
that quenches thirst
and brings relief
Be like the sun
that brightens the day
after the night
Be like the ocean
vast and limitless
and deep
Be like the sky
wide, open
and unbounded
Be like the moon
that glows with beauty
Be like the star
that sparkles brightly
Be like the season
that brings color
and leaves a beautiful memory
Gone-No More-Goodbye
The Heart That Bleeds Contest
Sponsor: Malta Forever
I've been lost and found and forgot where I should start,
it's all contingent on the circumstance of my bleeding heart.
Gone...no more...goodbye...
My veins twist and my senses expand,
as I walk by your picture on your old night stand.
Sure, there was a time I didn't expect this outcome. The clear ways of your final days
only portrayed who you never thought you'd become.
At a standstill as my vessels constrain and contract, you were most special but
I couldn't contain you through an exact tunnel to refrain you.
My platelets wither as my plasma spreads, they slither like lead poison into magma
forgetting you are dead, my blood moistens, believing your lies instead.
Vascular system depleting my oxygen, if only you had listened beyond religion,
contemplating secretion, as you started the incision.
When did you think we would find you?
Was it thought out or impromptu?
I've been lost and found and forget where I should start,
it's all contingent on circumstance of my bleeding heart.
My veins twist and my senses expand,
as I walk by your picture on your old night stand.
Gone...no more...goodbye...
Liquid Tragedy
-Does ugly under rain become beautiful?-
she asks, watching luminescent liquid unfold over her fingertips.
-The tragedy is that what's beautiful in sunlight becomes ethereal in rain-
he says, silking his hand into hers until the same wet moistens both their palms and slips off
their skin like a second-hand cloud.
-Tragedy?-
she asks
-But I'm not afraid of the rain-
and she's not. Jumping in puddles and wishing on glow-in-the-dark, plastic stars as she
counts sheep on his ceiling at midnight always was her cup of tea.
what he can't say is that
          she burns too bright.
              That her tragedy is there in her wide
                    eyes as they face the storm without fear.
                        That he aches as she soaks through his lungs
                              and flickers along his veins,
                                demanding thought processes.
Someday she'll reduce him to ashes.
He tightens himself around his personal fistful of fire and tries to avoid all the cracks in the
sidewalk as they stride through an atmosphere of entropy.
She pools her feet firmly
in
every
one.
She Assassin
She assassin; smooth and sultry,
moves through the night air so swiftly,
her straight legs in the shadows moves,
she takes your last breath away smooth.
A red carnation's her ticket plus,
wine spirits moistens her mouth's
inhaling her blond in pipe -
a payment rendered for her plight.
A killer not. Murderer? No.
Such words not meaning so -
a professional doing business maybe,
or protection for me, certainly.
For those others veiled in sand,
how they kill matters not,
she casts them down to the lot,
and moves in line to kiss me slow,
she hold the hilt of my bow.
With her sweet gentle caress
she impales the discoverence of death.
From the End
Desolation blinks steam rises as earth's suffix
The omega spoke through chain clanging gravel movement
Immorality runs rampant fully disclosed
Drug use becomes the norm legalizing blinding
And we continue to demoralize morals
Mankind walks parting destiny from fear with doubt
               Time Tasted
Today is Today the same as yesterday was
I saw my own mistake corrected by prayer
From hating this place to wondering why is how
Life confined and oppressed at the same time is why
To deserve a punishment that can't seem unfair
Self love over zealous will exist as no love
             Move Forward
The interrogation was as pointless as sin
My face showed zero emotion on that morning
Last night was the same as the day before non stop
For two years before then I should have remained free
And they all loved me but back then love escaped me
As sweat moistens theory my face gilds crimson
              Life free spilled
The time was 4:44 when the answer came
The change between am and pm was the same
Thanking God was not my ritual in times past
Music was the oxygen crime was the basis
So the crimes I committed explained two faces
The good and bad side of y'all in me is just half
              Silence Failed
With Athleticism
Through raw talent ignored
Like A Haunted Spirit
Lives in cracks and crevices
As the good that life lost...
           and left...
                   Life began
